Microbial Contamination in a Facility for Processing of Fresh-Cut Leafy Vegetables (신선편이 채소류 가공작업장 내 시설 및 제품의 미생물 오염 실태)

  • Microbial contamination levels in a fresh-cut leafy vegetable processing plant were evaluated. Total plate counts of samples collected from the walls, equipment, and raw materials ranged from $10^1{\sim}10^2$ CFU/100 $cm^2$, $10^0{\sim}10^4$ CFU/100 $cm^2$, and $10^4{\sim}10^6$ CFU/g, respectively. No coliforms were detected on walls; however, equipment and raw materials contained coliforms in concentrations ranging from ND (not detected)to $10^2$ CFU/100 $cm^2$ and $10^4{\sim}10^5$ CFU/g, respectively. Additionally, total plate counts for falling and floating bacteria in the processing plant were $10^0{\sim}10^1$ CFU/plate and $10^1{\sim}10^3$ $CFU/m^3$, respectively. Pathogenic microorganisms such as Escherichia coli, Salmonella spp, Staphylococcus aureus, or Listeria monocytogenes were not detected on walls, equipment, or raw materials. Overall, the results of this study indicate that hygiene control in the fresh-cut processing plant should be improved.

Thermoelectric Property of Fe-Si Based Materials Prepared By Self-Propagating High Temperature Synthesis (비기체연소합성법으로 제조한 Fe-Si계 재료의 열전특성)

  • 금속분말 Fe와 Si에 KNO$_{3}$(Fe+Si)무게비=0.2로 점화촉매 KNO$_{3}$를 혼합하고 50MPa로 성형한 후 점화시키는 비기체연소합성(SHS; Self propagating High temperature Synthesis)법으로 출발 분말을 얻었다. 점화분위기를 공기 및 Ar으로 한 경우 XRD결과에서 특별한 차이가 없었고 두 경우 모두 SiO$_{2}$피크가 검출되었다. 합성된 분말을 성형한 후 119$0^{\circ}C$환원분위기에서 소결하고 포석온도이하에서 열처리하여 반도성 FeSi$_{2}$가 주상인 Fe-Si계 열전재료를 제조하였다. Fe/Si무게비=46/54,44/56 및 42/58시편의 제벡계수는 Si함량이 증가할수록 증가하였다. 점화후의 세척처리를 2단계로 하는 경우 제벡계수의 부호가 변화하여 p-type에서 n-type으로 변화하며 소결밀도가 크게 상승하였다. 조성에 관계없이 공통적으로 발견되는 SiO$_{2}$는 점화시의 분위기보다는 점화촉매에 포함된 K성분이 소결 및 열처리시 산화제로 작용하여 형성되는 것이 확인되었다.

Development of Air-jet Washer for the Agaricus Bisporus (공기분사에 의한 양송이 버섯 세척기 개발)

  • This study was conducted to develop an agaricus bisporus washing machine which uses compressed air to remove foreign materials attached on the surface of agaricus bisporus. A prototype of the washing machine was constructed, and performance of removing foreign materials was tested. Research results are as follows: 1. Several transferring methods including PE roller rotation, brush roller rotation, PE screw rotation, vibration plate, and belt conveyor were evaluated. Roller, screw, and vibration methods caused damages on the surface of the products, but belt conveyor method caused the least damages. 2. For air jet, a stationary nozzle type and a rotational type were evaluated. The best air jet nozzle was the jet-type nozzle, and the rotational type was more effective than stationary type nozzle. 3. With the conveyer belt, box type moving method and the rotational air jet nozzle, the washing machine showed the best performance when higher than 5.4${\times}$105 Pa of air jet pressure and lower than 0.047 m/s of moving speed was used. Working performance of the system was 650 kg/h, and the damaging rate was 1.2 %.

  • This research was for reducing leachated concentration of hazardous pollutants in bottom ash from municipal solid waste combustors(200 tons/day) of Korea. Lead and copper compounds were selected as main pollutants. For reducing of leachated level, optimal conditions were observed using air oxidation for lead compounds and water washing method for copper compounds. and it was observed stable pH range of bottom ash from analyzing lechated level by pH variation.

  • Owing to highly developed industries and the use of fossil fuels, environmental problems becoming becoming pressing issues globally. Therefore, a study of automobile exhaust is urgently needed. Generally, air is sucked into the engine through the intake manifold. The aims of this study were to reduce the exhaust from used cars and increase the output by removing carbon deposits, which are considered a reason for the increasing exhaust and reduction of output, and the reduction of exhaust, variation of output and stability of idle speed were analyzed. The formation of carbon deposits within the suction manifold was investigated through a test device (KD147). In the intake manifold, the exhaust cleaning effect was confirmed.

  • 본 연구에서는 GaAs 소자제작 및 epi-layer 성장 공정에 있어 이용되어지는 HCI, H3PO4, 탈이온수(de-ionized water:DIW)를 통한 습식제정후 공기중 노출에 따른 오염을 최소화하여 표면상태 변화를 진성적(intrinsic)으로 관찰하고자 모든 세정처리를 아르곤 가스(argon gas)로 분위기가 유지되는 glove box에서 수행하였으며, 표면조성 및 결합상태 변화에 대한 관찰은 X-선 광전자 분광기(X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy)를 통해 이루어졌다. 고진공하에서 GaAs를 벽개하여 관찰함으로써 Ga이 대기중 산소이온과 우선적으로 결합함을 알 수 있었고, 이런 GaAs 표면의 반응성에 대한 고찰을 바탕으로 습식세정에 따른 화학반응 기구가 제시 되어졌다. HCI 및 H3PO4/DIW/HCI처리후 CI-이온의 Ga 이온과의 반응에 의한 Ga-CI결합의 형성과 As 산화물의 높은 용해도에 따른 As 산화물의 완전한 제거 및 식각전 초기(bare)GaAsvyaus에 존재하는 원소(elemental)As 상태의 식각후 잔류가 관찰되어졌다. 또 HCI, H3PO4/DIW/HCI 처리하고 DIW로 세척후 표면상태 변화를 관찰한 결과, DIW처리에 의해 elemental As 상태가 증가함을 알 수 있었다.

  • We evaluated the microbiological quality of a facility in which freshly cut onions were prepared. The total plate counts on walls, equipment, and raw materials were ND (not detected) to $10^1$ CFU/100 $cm^2$, $10^0{\sim}10^3$ CFU/100 $cm^2$, and $10^3{\sim}10^4$ CFU/g, respectively. No coliforms were detected on walls however, coliforms were detected at concentrations of ND to $10^3$ CFU/100 $cm^2$ and $10^3{\sim}10^4$ CFU/g on equipment and raw materials, respectively. Effects of Modified Atmosphere Packaging on the Quality of Chitosan and $CaCl_2$ Coated Mushroom (Agaricus bisporus) (환경가스조절 포장이 키토산 및 $CaCl_2$로 코팅 처리된 양송이 버섯의 품질에 미치는 영향)

  • The effects of modified atmosphere(MA) packaging and coating on the quality of mushroom (Agaricus bisporus) were investigated. Whole mushrooms(100 g) were packed with polyvinyl chloride(PVC) film wrap, PD941 and PD961 film bags and were stored in a chamber at $12^{\circ}C$ and 80% RH for 6 days. Gas composition of packages, respiration rate, weight loss, color and maturity index of MA packaged mushrooms were examined. The wrap packaged mushrooms showed different level of internal $CO_2$ concentrations among water washed, chitosan coated and $CaCl_2$ coated subgroups significantly at 5% level. The maximum $CO_2$ concentration of PD941 and PD961 packages for all coated showed $4.1{\sim}4.7%$ and $10.4{\sim}11.7%$, respectively, for the first day. PD961 package showed the lowest $O_2$ concentration compared to other groups. There were no significant respiration rate differences between wrap packed and PD941 packaged. Respiration rate of water washed. chitosan coated and $CaCl_2$ coated in PD961 packaged was 192 mg, 226 mg and 245 mg, respectively. Maturity index of PD961 packaged were not significantly different among the water washed, chitosan and $CaCl_2$ coated packages. Chitosan coating showed a negative effect on color change of mushrooms. The weight loss of 961 packaged was lower $(7.0{\sim}8.0%)$ that those of wrap packaged and PD941 packaged.

Quality Improvement of Retort Oyster Food by the Coating Method (보호피막 처리에 의한 굴 레토르트 식품의 품질 개선)

  • Removing shup from oyster by aeration method and coating with edible coating materials were investigated to improve oyster quality for the retort processing. Aeration rate and pore size of nozzle were critical factors to remove shup by aeration method. Optimum aeration rate and nozzle size were 45 L/min and 0.4 mm, respectively, when aeration was peformed two times and each operation maintained for 1 minute. Sodium alginate (SA) was used for oyster as the basal coating material. However, SA affected mouth-feel when it was applied at high concentrations. Sub-coating materials including skim milk, waxy corn starch, Purity CSC, white corn starch and carboxymethylcellulose (CMC) in decreasing order showed a positive effect on improving coatability and mouth-feel. Therefore, it is suggested that 1.5% SA and 0.9% skim milk should be the optimum composition of coating materials for oyster. Browning and syneresis of the porridge containing the coated oyster were considerably inhibited as compared with the sample without the coated oyster.

  • Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons(PAHs) contamination arises from several sources including processing of food(smoking, direct drying, cooking) and environmental contamination of air, water, or soil, the later being considered as the most important. In this study, to establish the analytical method for some PAHs[benzo(a)anthracene, chrysene, benzo(b)fluoranthene, benzo(k)fluoranthene, benzo(a)pyrene, dibenzo(a,h)anthracene, benzo(g,h,i)perylene, indeno(1,2,3-c,d)pyrene] in fish, alkali digestion time, extraction solvents, elution volume of florisil cartridge for clean-up have been optimized. The methodology involved saponification and extraction with n-hexane, clean-up on Sep-Pak florisil cartridges and determination by HPLC/FLD(High Performance Liquid Chromatography/Fluorescence Detector). Overall method recoveries for 8 PAHs spiked into these products ranged from 90 to 106%.
