This study presents the topology optimization technique by density method to determine the initial shape of space truss structures. Most initial shape design is performed by designer's previous experiences and trial and error method instead of the application of reasonable optimization method. Thus, the reasonable and economical optimization methods are needed to be introduced for the initial shape design. Therefore, we set design domain for cantilever space truss structure as an example model. And topology optimization is used to obtain optimum layout for them, and then size optimization method is used to find the optimum member size. Therefore, the reasonable initial optimal shapes of spatial truss structures can be obtained through the topology and size optimization using density method.

The research on red tide is generally in progress through field work, such as the naked eye and sampling. It was difficult to forecast exactly the course, from appearance of red tide to disappearance. with the established ways of investigation and analysis. Accordingly it is need to analyze environmental factors in time and space, the appearance of red tide and the path of its migration by more objective and scientific methods. In this study, GIS is applied to analyse the space character of red tide and the interpolation of IDW(Inverse Distance Weight) is applied to assume the density distribution of red tide after gather data by using Arc/Info. After IDW interpolation, the sea area occurred over 1,000 cells/ml of red tide density is extracted with CON and SUM Function of Grid Module, and the density of the sea area is accumulated daily. As a result of this study, the distribution condition of red tide is found timely and spacially by applying GIS to the sea area of red tide, the results indicated that the spatial density and the cumulative frequency about the origin of red tide using GIS, the sea area demonstrated that the maximum density and the maximum frequency varied significantly over the Nammyun of Namhae-Is. with the maximum frequency being 49 times. accordingly if data about the areas of red tide will occur from the present are accumulated, the shifting route of red tide occurrence and extinction can be predicted.
The purpose of selectivity estimation is to maintain the summary data in a very small memory space and to minimize the error of estimated value and query result. In case of estimating selectivity for large spatial data, the existing works need summary information which reflect spatial data distribution well to get the exact result for query. In order to get such summary information, they require a much memory space. Therefore In this paper, we propose a new technique cumulative density wavelet Histogram, called CDW Histogram, which gets a high accurate selectivity in small memory space. The proposed method is to utilize the sub-histograms created by CD histogram. The each sub-histograms are used to generate the wavelet summary information by applying the wavelet transform. This fact gives us good selectivity even if the memory sire is very small. The experimental results show that the proposed method simultaneously takes full advantage of their strong points - gets a good selectivity using the previous histogram in ($25\%\~50\%$) memory space and is superior to the existing selectivity estimation techniques. The proposed technique can be used to accurately quantify the selectivity of the spatial range query in databases which have very restrictive memory.
The present USN (Ubiquitous Sensor Networks) node deployment practices have many limitations in terms of positional connectivity. The aim of this research was to minimize a redundancy of USN route nodes, by integrating spatially weighted parameters such as visibility, proximity to cell center, road density, building density and cell overlapping ratio into a comprehensive GIS database. This spatially weighted approach made it possible to reduce the number of route nodes (11) required in the study site as compared to that of the grid network method (24). The field test for RSSI (Received Signal Strength Indicator) indicates that the spatially weighted deployment could comply with the quality assurance standard for node connectivity, and that reduced route nodes do not show a significant degree of signal fluctuation for different site conditions. This study demonstrated that the spatially weighted deployment can be used to minimize a redundancy of USN route nodes in a routine manner, and the quantitative evidence removing a redundancy of USN route nodes could be utilized as major tools to ensure the strong signal in the USN, that is frequently encountered in real applications.

A numerical study to predict the contamination behavior in a room being contaminated has been performed. The room with one inlet and three exits, which maintained same pressure at the ceiling, has been chosen as test model. Six sets of calculation have been performed, for one, two or three contamination sources of 1*10$^{-4}$ kg$_{c}$/s strength at two different velocities(0.2m/s, 20m/s). Numerical results show that the number the contamination concentration near the first source increased by every 20%-30% of the maximum concentration for each increase of the contamination source.e.

This paper considers a probability density estimation problem of climate values. In particular, we focus on estimating probability densities of summer extreme temperature over South Korea. It is known that the probability density of climate values at one location is similar to those at near by locations and one doesn't follow well known parametric distributions. To accommodate these properties, we use a mixture of conditional autoregressive species sampling model, which is a nonparametric Bayesian model with a spatial dependency. We apply the model to a dataset consisting of summer maximum temperature and minimum temperature over South Korea. The dataset is obtained from University of East Anglia.

It is a general agreement that exact statistical solutions can be found by a Monte Carlo technique. Due to difficulties, however, in the numerical generation of random fields, which satisfy not only the probabilistic distribution but the spectral characteristics as well, it is recognized as relatively difficult to find an exact response variability of a structural response. In this study, recognizing that the random field assumes a constant over the domain under consideration when the correlation distance tends to infinity, a semi-theoretical solution of response variability is proposed for general structures. In this procedure, the probability density function is directly used. It is particularly noteworthy that the proposed methodology provides response variability for virtually any type of probability density function, and has capability of considering correlations between multiple random variables.
The aim of this study is to analyze the temporal and spatial distribution aspects of red tide using GIS techniques. The damage caused by red tide appears various aspects according to the species, concentration and spatial distribution of red tide plankton. Therefore, in order to prevent the damage of red tide it is important to understand the distribution characteristics of red tide by each species according to time and space. In this perspective, we analyzed the beginning outbreak area, spatial occurrence frequency and spatial migration of red tide. The spatial data used by this study was constructed by digitizing the red tide quick report and coupled with various attributes such as species, concentration and water temperature for construction of red tide database. We used various spatial analysis methods such as union, intersect, tracking, buffer and spatial interpolation for analyzing temporal and spatial characteristics of red tide. From the result of these spatial analyses, we could get the spatial information on the temporal and spatial distribution characteristics of red tide at the Southern Sea.
