The Changes of Architectural Design Concept by the Paradigm of Modern Physics (현대물리학의 패러다임과 건축 디자인의 개념 변화)

  • By the theories of the physics, the phenomena in the world are understood. And also these theories gave the influence to design the architecture. In this research, the contents which the thought of the physics gives a influence a building design is considered, and try to suggest the interrelation between the physics and architectural design. As the result, the architectural design on the influence of classical physics is based on the homogeneous space and the design focus on the style or form of the building with a geometry plan which is not concerned of the place. On the other hand, contemporary architectural design is based on the thought of the modern physics. By this concepts, the architecture is understood as the area contain the conditions of the circumstance and by interaction between buildings and the environment and by various viewpoints like cubism. And the architecture which is settled recently is shown of the diversity and atypical form.

  • 전력사용량이 산업발전과 더불어 기하급수적으로 증가하고 있으며, 한정된 공간내에서 대용량의 전력설비를 설치하기 위해 폐쇄형 배전반이 운영되고 있다. 한국전기안전공사에서 발표한 통계자료에 의하면, 고압이상 전기설비 검사결과 절연내력이 불합격인 경우가 다수 발생하고 있으며, 이는 아크 플래시 사고의 원인이다. 특히 수배전반의 경우 부하설비 또는 외부의 영향을 확인할 수 있는 장치 및 보호설비가 설치되어 있으나 자체 안전장치가 마련되어 있지 않아 자체사고를 신속히 검출하고 판단할 수 있는 기술이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 해상도가 낮은 저가의 열화상 센서에 고속 DSP를 사용하여 영상처리 기법인 이차원 보간 법으로 해상도를 올려서 사용하는 기술을 이용하여 아크에 의해 발생되는 열특성을 검출하고 검출된 데이터를 전송하여 전기화재사고를 미연에 방지할 수 있는 장치 개발을 위한 기초 특성조사를 실시하였다.

  • 우리나라 주거문화는 시대적, 환경적인 요인에 따라 많은 변화를 겪어왔다. 아파트 전성시대가 계속된 가운데 주상복합, 전원주택, 땅콩주택 등 다양한 주거 형태가 나타나기 시작한 것이다. 이런 변화의 중심에는 집이라는 공간을 단순히 먹고, 잠자는 곳이 아닌 '가족 구성원들의 보다 건강하고 행복한 삶을 만들어가는 특별한 영역'이라고 생각하는 인식이 자리 잡고 있다. '꿈의숲 SK VIEW'가 많은 이들의 관심을 받고 있는 이유가 바로 여기에 있다. 강북구의 중심에 들어설 예정인 것은 물론이고 인근에 우이천, 북서울 꿈의숲, 초안산 등이 위치해 있어 도시의 편리함과 생동하는 자연을 동시에 느낄 수 있다는 것이 최대 장점으로 꼽히고 있는 것이다. 때문에 이곳을 조성하고 있는 SK건설에서는 안전관리에 만전을 기하고 있다. 작은 사고로도 명성에 금이 갈 수 있기 때문이다. 근로자 안전을 최우선으로 신 주거문화를 조성해 나가고 있는 '꿈의숲 SK VIEW' 건설현장을 찾아가 봤다.

Developing a Traffic Accident Prediction Model for Freeways (고속도로 본선에서의 교통사고 예측모형 개발)

  • Accident prediction models have been utilized to predict accident possibilities in existing or projected freeways and to evaluate programs or policies for improving safety. In this study, a traffic accident prediction model for freeways was developed for the above purposes. When selecting variables for the model, the highest priority was on the ease of both collecting data and applying them into the model. The dependent variable was set as the number of total accidents and the number of accidents including casualties in the unit of IC(or JCT). As a result, two models were developed; the overall accident model and the casualty-related accident model. The error structure adjusted to each model was the negative binomial distribution and the Poisson distribution, respectively. Among the two models, a more appropriate model was selected by statistical estimation. Major nine national freeways were selected and five-year dada of 2003~2007 were utilized. Explanatory variables should take on either a predictable value such as traffic volumes or a fixed value with respect to geometric conditions. As a result of the Maximum Likelihood estimation, significant variables of the overall accident model were found to be the link length between ICs(or JCTs), the daily volumes(AADT), and the ratio of bus volume to the number of curved segments between ICs(or JCTs). For the casualty-related accident model, the link length between ICs(or JCTs), the daily volumes(AADT), and the ratio of bus volumes had a significant impact on the accident. The likelihood ratio test was conducted to verify the spatial and temporal transferability for estimated parameters of each model. It was found that the overall accident model could be transferred only to the road with four or more than six lanes. On the other hand, the casualty-related accident model was transferrable to every road and every time period. In conclusion, the model developed in this study was able to be extended to various applications to establish future plans and evaluate policies.

Comparison of Traffic Crash Characteristics Using Spatio-temporal Analysis in GIS-T (GIS-T 환경에서 시공간분석을 이용한 교통사고 특성 비교 - 도로 폐쇄 전후비교를 중심으로-)

  • Traffic safety assessment is often accomplished by analyzing the number of crashes occurring in some geographic space over certain specific time duration. In this paper, we introduce a procedure that can efficiently analyze spatial and temporal changes in traffic crashes before-and-after implementation of a certain traffic controlling measure. For the analysis, crash frequency data before-and-after closing a major highway around St. Louis in Missouri was collected through Transportation Management System(TMS) database that is maintained by Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT). In order to identify any spatial and temporal pattern in crashes, each crash is pinpointed on a map using the dynamic segmentation in GIS. Then, the identified pattern is statistically confirmed using an analysis of variance table. The advantage of this approach is to easily assess spatial and temporal trend of crashes that are not readily attainable otherwise. The results from this study can possibly be applied in enhancing the highway safety assessment procedure. This paper also makes several suggestions for future development of a comprehensive transportation data system in Korea which is similar to MoDOT's TMS database.

A Study on Application Standard of At-grade Intersection Considering Both Delay and Accident (지체와 사고를 고려한 평면교차로 적용기준에 관한 연구)

  • The Intersection is inner traffic facilities and the space where the roads are intersected and connected. And also, the Intersection is the decision-making section for drivers to select the route according to the geometric structure and operation method. However decision-making section cause to raise car accidents rate because it imposes a heavy burden on drivers. In that reason, many countries such as Europe use the Roundabouts to reduce the numbers of decision making and collision. In Korea, the kinds of method are just introduced and it is using now but there are no exact standards. Hence, this study suggests the process to evaluate and determine the types of Intersection which are based on the traffic flow (congestion) and traffic safety (accidents). Firstly, this study presents the number of accident at each Intersection which is depended on the traffic volume. Secondly, this study calculates and analysis the accident at signalized Intersection, non-signalized Intersection and Roundabout by TSIS-NETSIM program. Thirdly, this study concludes the best suitable Intersection type through the materials which are mentioned before.

  • Recently, the government has improvement projects of dangerous road for the site that has very high accident rate due to bad geometric structures of the road. Although, route selecting of the road is a basic and important process, but the process of route selecting must consider the technical, safety and environment factor together. Also, the technology for the 3-dimensional terrain model can be used as an important factor in planning and designing for selecting alternative route projects. In the course of experimenting with the 3-dimensional topography generated by the combination of the digital map and drawing of route, the technology as been developed to offer the multi-dimensional access to the potential construction sites from the nearby main roads. This 3-dimensional digital elevation model has made it possible to make various terrain analysis base on GIS, which provides real-time virtual access to the designated construction sites for development planning and construction projects. Therefore, this study presents a reasonable plan for route selecting from some alternative routes through subjective evaluation and classify the methods linked basic design of road construction.

Estimation of a Driver's Physical Condition Using Real-time Vision System (실시간 비전 시스템을 이용한 운전자 신체적 상태 추정)

  • This paper presents a new algorithm for estimating a driver's physical condition using real-time vision system and performs experimentation for real facial image data. The system relies on a face recognition to robustly track the center points and sizes of person's two pupils, and two side edge points of the mouth. The face recognition constitutes the color statistics by YUV color space together with geometrical model of a typical face. The system can classify the rotation in all viewing directions, to detect eye/mouth occlusion, eye blinking and eye closure, and to recover the three dimensional gaze of the eyes. These are utilized to determine the carelessness and drowsiness of the driver. Finally, experimental results have demonstrated the validity and the applicability of the proposed method for the estimation of a driver's physical condition.

Developing Design Guidelines for Rest Area Based on the Traffic Safety (교통안전을 고려한 고속도로 휴게소 설계기준 개발)

  • Entry and exits of the rest area are sections where designed speed can be rapidly change and also a weak traffic safety section. In addition, two tasks can be performed simultaneously at entry of the rest area, particularly searching for deceleration and parking spaces/parking sides etc. Thus, design criteria is required in order to procure the stability of accessed vehicle. In case of Korea, geometric structure design criteria of entry facilities, such as toll-gate, interchange, junction etc was established. However there are no presence in a detailed standards for geometric structure of the rest area which affiliated road facilities. In this study, Derive problems in regards to the entry of geometric structure of resting areas by utilizing a sight survey and an investigation research of traffic accidents. The survey was targeting 135 general service areas. After Classifying the design section of resting areas' entry as well as derive design elements on each section, a speed measurement by targeting entry of rest areas and car behavior surveys were performed, then each element's minimum standard was derived through the analyses. According to the speeds at the starting/end point of entrance connector road, the minimum length of the entrance connector road is decided as 40m using Slowing-down length formula and based on the driving pattern, the range of the junction setting angle of the entrance connector road is defined as $12^{\circ}{\sim}17^{\circ}$. Suggest improvement plans for existing rest areas that can be applied realistically. This should be corresponded to the standards of entry and exit of developed rest areas.
