The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between the product characteristics and spatial configuration in a retail store. This study utilized the analytical method of Space Syntax, and the software package used for the analysis was New-wave and Pesh. The qualitative study focused on the showroom of 'H INTERIOR', a leading furniture company in Korea, and examined the accessibility of the space. The result showed that the main accessible route was well established in the retail store, and more trendy and fashionable products were likely to be displayed in more accessible places. Also, the products in the selected showroom were arranged according to the pricing information, so that products with lower price were displayed in more accessible places. This study suggested that it be important to adequately and appropriately display the products in relation to the characteristics of products, and implied that the method of Space Syntax was useful to strategically evaluate the display in retail spaces.
Since the active enhancement of large-scale apartment development in 1970, apartment complexes in Korea have shown considerable changes throughout, with respect to its planning and design. Depending on the government legislations, and economical and social issues of its time, apartments have been designed to respond to varying demands of the society; from minimal unit design to overall masterplan. As existing researches regarding development of apartment planning are conducted in individual and distinct manner, not only is it difficult to find cases of an overall critical analysis of apartment complexes, it is also rare to look for research that deals with a greater urban context, nor the geographical location of the site. With specific focus on apartments in the metropolitan, the focus of this research lies in critically analyzing the qualities of outdoor spaces within an apartment complex, its generational change and interpreting the value it holds for the society. With regards to analyzing its outdoor features, the core of this study deals with applying space syntax, based on the configurational properties of spatial constituents. The results of this research have some implications that the accessibility change of apartment outdoor spaces was examined through quantitative analysis, and the changes of it by time were clarified in detail. And objective and quantitative approaches were employed for an alternative to the methods used in existing related researches.
The Commercial space are changed gradually large scalized and complexed to introduce different culture exchanges and experience. However, the mass-complex commercial space are limited as of their complexed space composition or degree of space depth, which may become factors causing people to get tired easily. Thus, having a design strategy is important to create economical effectiveness in order to overcome these limitations and for the people to stay longer and do their consumption activities through more experiences and social interchanges. Recently, Jerde Partnership's who designed many complex commercial spaces made a commercial success by their unique design strategy to setup a new space and lead the interaction between space and people. The purpose of this study is based on Jerd's design concept to analyze Jerd Partnership's design strategy and space related structure to propose their space construction and design method for mass-complex commercial spaces. The results are as follows. (1)Jerde Partnership's causes the abundant space experience of the user through mass and space constitution to have a theme and a story. (2)They builds an excursion type line of flow system with an organic curve, and a non-daily experience by the change of the space scale and the application of various programs is enabled and guides the stay for the long time. (3)They builds the doorway of various courses and a circulation system through the open space and controls depth of the space. In addition, various events are performed in the center of such a circulation system, and this event makes a unique place.

Analyzing of dependency relation among clauses is one of the most critical parts in parsing Korean sentences because it generates severe ambiguities. To get successful results of analyzing dependency relation, this task has been the target of various machine learning methods including SVM. Especially, kernel methods are usually used to analyze dependency relation and it is reported that they show high performance. This paper proposes an expression and a composit kernel for dependency analysis of Korean clauses. The proposed expression adopts a composite kernel to obtain the similarity among clauses. The composite kernel consists of a parse tree kernel and a liner kernel. A parse tree kernel is used for treating structure information and a liner kernel is applied for using lexical information. the proposed expression is defined as three types. One is a expression of layers in clause, another is relation expression between clause and the other is an expression of inner clause. The experiment is processed by two steps that first is a relation expression between clauses and the second is a expression of inner clauses. The experimental results show that the proposed expression achieves 83.31% of accuracy.
The remarkable growth of city population and rate of urbanization are increasing every year rapidly in Korea. On the other hand young people are decreasing and old people are increasing in rural areas. So in 2009, the five Rural New-Town Development Areas were selected by the Ministry for Food, Agriculture Forestry and Fisheries. To provide data necessary for housing types and floor planning and development suitable for rural new-town development to be implemented constantly in rural areas all over the country later, this study used a space syntax program to analyze housing types and space structures within houses in five new-town development areas. After analyzing 33 floor plans for the five areas, there were few houses with separation of communal (integration space) and personal living spaces (segregation space). In particular, 82% had personal living spaces requiring protection of privacy, such as bedrooms and the toilet, classified into communal living spaces. Residential houses for rural new-town development targeting the young population valuing personal life and privacy, which failed to reflect city people's life properly, were expected to decrease residential satisfaction after occupancy.
This paper deals with the spatial configuration of the unit floor plan based on the apartment building type. It is generally agreed that various apartment building types were organized by diverse apartment unit floor plan. The reason behind this diversity, apartment unit plan are affected by the environmental condition and the diverse spatial composition of the unit floor plan. Apartment building types were classified by the similarity of the justified-graph type. This types classified into two category; One core type which were classified by the shape of the core, and multiple core type which were compounded by more than two core. These categories divided into 5 types, and 2 types. Each types were compared in view of the mean depth, relative asymmetry, integration value. Consequently, these types could be classified in the number of the unit floor plan. It is profitable to 3 unit types which was analyzed in view of an indicator of the spatial configuration. Therefore, 3 unit types is favorable to the composition of the apartment building types.

Applying metric(distance) factor as weighting to spatial syntax is known to not contribute to the explanatory power for the human movement behavior as compared to the geometric(angle) factor according to the negative results of several related studies. However, Kim & Piao (2017) assumed that there is not a problem of the metric factor itself but a problem of the way of applying the metric factor as weighting, and presented a new possibility of the metric factor as weighting by proposing and verifying the methods of applying the metric weighting, which are different from the existing ones. The purpose of this study is to propose advanced methods of applying the metric weighting to space syntax, and to verify whether they contribute to the improvement of explanatory power of space syntax analysis. In this paper, we propose functions for combined depth of distance-step that combine the distance-weighted depth function with the step depth function and apply them to axial segment analysis to check the improvement of explanatory power of them.

The object of this study are 32 floor plans types of "Standard Korea Traditional-Houses Design=SKTHD.". The purpose of the research was to enhance the satisfaction level of users by comparing and analyzing the characteristics of the SKTHD. Research decision : 1. It tried to accommodate modern life by including space elements of modern housing, such as the 'entrance space', in the SKTHD. 2. The SKTHD. also favored the southern layout of living rooms and entrance spaces. 3.The number of bedrooms was generally planned to be two to three and it was judged that more various space and bedroom were needed to hold various functions of rural areas. 4. It has been analyzed that the depth of space is deeper to enter the entrance space(E)' than to enter from Thet-maru(TM). And as the depth of space in the Master bedroom is related to personal privacy, it is needed that the depth of space should be sufficiently.

The emergence of smart devices and IoT leads to the appearance of O2O service to blur the difference between online and offline. As online services' merits were added to the offline market, it caused a change in the dynamics of the offline industry, which means the offline-space's digitization. Unlike these changing aspects of the offline market, exhibition industry grows steadily in the industry, however it is also possible to create a new value added by combining O2O service. We conducted a survey targeting 20 spectators in '2015 Seoul Design Festival' at COEX. The survey was used to analysis of the spatial structure and generate the dataset for machine learning. We identified problems with the analysis study of the existing spatial structure, and based on this investigation we propose a new method for analyzing a spatial structure. Also by processing a machine learning technique based on the generated dataset, we propose a novel evaluation model of exhibition-space cells for O2O service layout.
The spatial planning of the elderly care facility plans is analyzed using space syntax in terms of encouraging the social interaction of the residents in this study. First, through the visibility graph analysis, openness and accessibility of space is analysed. Second, the walking behavior of residents through agent analysis model is simulated. Third, the space planning methods for the elderly care facilities are proposed based on the results. The results are as follows. According to the visibility graph analysis, the main corridor has high visual openness and high accessibility. The visual openness and accessibility of the unit living room, where social interaction among residents is possible in each unit, is low. Space planning is needed to increase direct protection and observation of employees to the unit living room. The location of the nurse station that manages the entire floor needs to be located where the openness and accessibility is most high. The nursing station should have a high degree of connectivity to the entire space, so that any accidents can be managed and contact is accessible. Through the agent simulation the flow from the center to each unit space is highest in the corridor space and the inflow to the private rooms and the living room are similar. Therefore, it is necessary to plan the accessibility of the unit living room more for the natural inflow of residents.
