  • LiDAR has capability of rapid data acquisition and provides useful information for reconstructing surface of the Earth. However, Extracting information from LiDAR data is not easy task because LiDAR data consist of irregularly distributed point clouds of 3D coordinates and lack of semantic and visual information. This thesis proposed methods for automatic extraction of buildings and 3D detail modeling using airborne LiDAR data. As for preprocessing, noise and unnecessary data were removed by iterative surface fitting and then classification of ground and non-ground data was performed by analyzing histogram. Footprints of the buildings were extracted by tracing points on the building boundaries. The refined footprints were obtained by regularization based on the building hypothesis. The accuracy of building footprints were evaluated by comparing with 1:1,000 digital vector maps. The horizontal RMSE was 0.56m for test areas. Finally, a method of 3D modeling of roof superstructure was developed. Statistical and geometric information of the LiDAR data on building roof were analyzed to segment data and to determine roof shape. The superstructures on the roof were modeled by 3D analytical functions that were derived by least square method. The accuracy of the 3D modeling was estimated using simulation data. The RMSEs were 0.91m, 1.43m, 1.85m and 1.97m for flat, sloped, arch and dome shapes, respectively. The methods developed in study show that the automation of 3D building modeling process was effectively performed.

  • UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) photogrammetry has recently emerged as a means of obtaining highly precise and rapid spatial information due to its cost-effectiveness and high efficiency. However, current procedures or regulations for quantitative quality verification methods and certification processes for UAV-images are insufficient. In addition, the current verification method for image quality is not evaluated by an MTF (Modulation Transfer Function) analysis or edge response analysis, which can analyze the degree of contrast including image resolution, and only relies on the GSD (Ground Sample Distance) analysis. Therefore, in this study, the edge response analysis using a Slanted edge target was performed along with GSD analysis to confirm the necessity of analyzing edge response analysis in UAV-images quality analysis. Furthermore, a Matlab GUI-based software tool was developed to help streamline the edge response analysis. As a result, we confirmed the need for edge response analysis since the outputs of the edge response analysis from the same GSD had significantly different outcomes. Additionally, we found that the quality of the edge response analysis of UAV-images is proportional to the performance of the camera mounted on the UAV.

  • The purpose of this study is to reveal spatial relationships between landslide and geospatial data set, to map the landslide susceptibility using the relationship and to verify the landslide susceptibility using the landslide occurrence data in Boun area in 1998. Landslide locations were detected from aerial photography and field survey, and then topography, soil, forest, and land cover data set were constructed as a spatial database using GIS. Various spatial parameters were used as the landslide occurrence factors. They are slope, aspect, curvature and type of topography, texture, material, drainage and effective thickness of soil. type, age, diameter and density of wood, lithology, distance from lineament and land cover. To calculate the relationship between landslides and geospatial database, Bayesian probability methods, weight of evidence. were applied and the contrast value that is >$W^{+}$->$W^{-}$ were calculated. The landslide susceptibility index was calculated by summation of the contrast value and the landslide susceptibility maps were generated using the index. The landslide susceptibility map can be used to reduce associated hazards, and to plan land cover and construction.

  • This study was conduct to the reduction and elimination of Limnoperna fortunei that problem in the facilities and water supply pipeline is done to review proposals for the controls. In order to effectively removal the larva and the adult of that, chlorination and being used to an existing method is to be commended. The water temperature of Limnoperna fortunei spawning season was ranged 16 to $17^{\circ}C$ during May to early November. A chlorination of this period is appropriate in order to control a larva. However, existing in the attached young and old shell at the same time consistently been deemed to apply, because it must be taken into account. The range of concentration of chlorination to control the biomass for Limnoperna fortunei was from 0.5 to 1.0 ppm. Proliferation attached to the mitigation or appropriate technology to solve the domestic situation the priorities of the choice of a more urgent. Also, the monitoring of water temperature and larva will constantly to be done. And development of larva monitoring method as well as after chlorine treatment is effective analysis needed. Finally, we are expecting to good use in validating the results presented in this study.

  • To explore on the defense strategies against hervivory of Juglans regia and J. mandshurica, morphological characteristics of the leaf, leaf domatia structure and the number, herbivores insects and mites on the leaves, collected from the trees growing in Mt. Chiak, Mt. Cheongtae, Mt. Jungwang, Namyangju-si and Wonju-si, were investigated from May to October, 2009. Domatia of J. mandshurica revealed tuft type, these of J. regia revealed pocket+tuft type. Domatia number per leaflet proved the higher figures, 28.3/leaflet for J. mandshurica, and the lower, 19.6/leaflet for J. regia. Leaf surface trichomes of J. regia revealed stellates only on the domatia structures, and that of J. mandshurica does dense stellates and glandular hairs on the leaf-blade and vein. Predatory mites' number per leaflet proved highly significant differences among tree species, and mean of predatory mites was higher values (4.8/leaflet) in J. mandshurica and lower values (3.5/leaflet) in J. regia. Small amount of nectar are found distal veinparts on the leaf margin of J. mandshurica. Dense glandular hairs on the lower leaf surfaces of J. mandshurica estimates useful strategy against herbivory. It may be possible to breed J. regia for better expression of leaf traits such as dense glandular hairs that increase predator populations and efficacy.

  • The effects of different stocking densities on the growth of juvenile abalone, Haliotis discus hannai and water quality in the recirculating system with rotating biological contactor, were assessed. The trials were conducted using total weight 32 g juveniles abalone for 60 days at stocking densities of 5, 10, 15 kg/$m^2$. The animals were fed sufficient amounts of the pellet diet of 30.4% protein during the experimental period. Daily feeding rate (DFR) and survival rate (SR) of 5 kg/$m^2$ showed 0.76% and 85.5% those were not significantly differed 10 kg/$m^2$ showing 0.75% and 96.0% (P>0.05). DFR and SR of 15 kg/$m^2$ showing 0.38% and 31.2% were significantly lower than 5 and 10 kg/m2 (P<0.05). Daily growth rate (DGR) and feed efficiency (FE) showed the highest as 0.19% and 24.2% in 5 kg/$m^2$ the lowest as 0.05% and 14.3% in 15 kg/$m^2$ (P<0.05). According to, these results was an inverse relationship between growth and stocking density. The optimum density of juvenile abalone from this experiment is 5 to 10 kg/$m^2$ in the recirculating system.

  • The purpose of this study is to determine the impact on settlement pattern of wintering swans by distribution of rapidly spreading lotus in Junam reservoir. When we investigated the relationship between the spreading lotus and population variation of the wintering swans in all around Nakdong-river estuary, the spreading lotus did not affect the number of swans in Junam reservoir. The occupation ratio of lotus distribution continuously increased from 13.2%(2013) to 19.0%(2014). Before we begin with the investigation, we compared two particular groups: inside of lotus community and far (>100 m) water area from the border of lotus community. At the first survey(2013.12.17), we observed 3.1 times more swan population in the inside, comparing with far water area. The third(2014.01.29.) and fourth(2014.12.03) inquiries also showed respectively 5.5 and 7.5 times higher swan population in the inside and near water area. The second observation was conducted during visitors were increased so these phenomenon was not observed. This result might be explained as the similar environmental condition of habitate for swan and lotus such as less than 1 m water depth. However, we considered that lotus and swan were not relation of conflict due to increasing both lotus community and swan population at the same time. According to the observation that inhabitation density of wintering swans is significantly high in near lotus communities area, at least spread of lotus did not negatively affect the wintering swans.

  • Due to recent increase in applications requiring huge amount of data such as spatial data analysis and image analysis, clustering on large databases has been actively studied. In a hierarchical clustering method, a tree representing hierarchical decomposition of the database is first created, and then, used for efficient clustering. Existing hierarchical clustering methods mainly adopted the bottom-up approach, which creates a tree from the bottom to the topmost level of the hierarchy. These bottom-up methods require at least one scan over the entire database in order to build the tree and need to search most nodes of the tree since the clustering algorithm starts from the leaf level. In this paper, we propose a novel top-down hierarchical clustering method that uses multidimensional indexes that are already maintained in most database applications. Generally, multidimensional indexes have the clustering property storing similar objects in the same (or adjacent) data pares. Using this property we can find adjacent objects without calculating distances among them. We first formally define the cluster based on the density of objects. For the definition, we propose the concept of the region contrast partition based on the density of the region. To speed up the clustering algorithm, we use the branch-and-bound algorithm. We propose the bounds and formally prove their correctness. Experimental results show that the proposed method is at least as effective in quality of clustering as BIRCH, a bottom-up hierarchical clustering method, while reducing the number of page accesses by up to 26~187 times depending on the size of the database. As a result, we believe that the proposed method significantly improves the clustering performance in large databases and is practically usable in various database applications.

  • Dynamics of the river plume is a very complicated non-linear problem with the free boundary changing in time and space. Mixing with the ambient water through the boundary makes the problem more complicated. In this paper we reduced 3-dimensional problem into 1-dimensional one by using the integral analysis method. Basic equations have been integrated over the lateral and vertical variations. For these integrations we adopted the well-established assumption that the flow-axis component of plume velocity and the density difference of the plume with the ambient water have Gaussian distributions in directions which are perpendicular to the flow-axis of the plume. We also used the result of our previous study on the lateral spreading velocity of the plume derived under the same assumption. And entrainment was included as a mixing process. The resultant 1-dimensional equations were solved by Runge-Kutta numerical method. Consequently, comparatively easy method of numerical analysis is presented for the 3-dimensional river plume. The method can also be used for the analysis of the thermal plume of cooling water of power plants.

  • Dependence of radical and ion density on electron density and temperature is numerically investigated for $Cl_2$/Ar, $CF_4$, $CF_4/O_2$, $CF_4/H_2$, $C_2F_6$, $C_4F_8$ and $SF_6$ discharges which are widely used for etching process. We derived a governing equation set for radical and ion densities as functions of the electron density and temperature, which are easier to measure relatively, from continuity equations by assuming steady state condition. Used rate coefficients of reactions in numerical calculations are directly produced from collisional cross sections or collected from various papers. If the rate coefficients have different values for a same reaction, calculation results were compared with experimental results. Then, we selected rate coefficients which show better agreement with the experimental results.
