Accuracy Improvement of the Estimated Angle Using Phase Averaging in Phase-Comparison Monopulse Algorithm (위상 비교 모노 펄스 알고리즘에서 위상평균법을 이용한 추정 각도 정확도 향상)

  • This study describes the accuracy improvement of the estimated angle using phase averaging in phase-comparison monopulse algorithm. In addition, to compensate the time-delay due to the phase averaging, we propose the time-delay compensation algorithm which uses the derivative of the estimated angle. These derivative is calculated by the curve fitting method. Using the real radar interferometer, we have verified that the phase averaging and time-delay compensation algorithms are effective in real-time signal processing application.

  • For a target echo containing interference, it is very difficult to improve the performance of a monopulse radar with spatial domain processing, because the statistical property of interference cannot be exclusively obtained. This paper proposes a monopulse system that has a generalized sidelobe canceller(GSC) filter-based time domain processor as a preprocessor prior to conventional monopulse spatial processing. We analytically show the procedure of time-space signal processing running in the system, and assess its performance through simulation. In particular, the performance dependence on the number of taps in the main channel filter and the estimation error in Doppler frequency are assessed by comparison with those of existing systems.

The Characteristics and Optical Implementation of OA-pSDF BPOF (OA-pSDF BPOF의 특성 및 광학적 구현)

  • In this paper, an coherent optical correlator system based on the off-axis projection synthetic discriminant funtion (OA-pSDF) was analyzed and implemented optically. The filter was synthesized by combining conventional pSDF with single reference plane wave multiplexing. Synthesized pSDF were transformed to binary phase only filters (BPOFs) and fabricated as computer generated holograms(CGHs), which was used in the real time optical correlator system instead of using expensive spatial light modulators(SLMs). From the characteristic test, it was found that OA-pSDF showed distortion invariance and good performances in discrminating subset images. The proposed OA-pSDF BPOF could overcome the limitations of conventional BPOFs : that is distortion variance such as acale and rotation, especially out of plane variance.

  • Digital still camera generally uses optical low-pass filter(OLPF) to enhance its image quality because it removes high spatial frequencies causing aliasing. However, the use of OLPF causes some loss of detail. On the other hand, when image are captured by using no OLPF, the moir$\acute{e}$ is generally existed in high spatial frequency region of an image. Therefore, in this paper, moir$\acute{e}$ reduction method in case of using no OLPF is suggested. To detect the moir$\acute{e}$, spatial frequency response(SFR) of camera was firstly analyzed by using ISO 12233 resolution chart. Then, moir$\acute{e}$ region is detected by using the patterns that are related to the SFR of camera. next, this region is analysed in the frequency domain. Then, the moir$\acute{e}$ is reduced by removing its frequency component, which represents inflection point between high frequency and DC components. Through the experimental results, it is shown that the proposed method can achieve moir$\acute{e}$ reduction with preserving the detail.

Fuel Concentration Measurements by Laser Rayleigh Scattering (레이저 Rayleigh 산란을 이용한 연료농도 계측시 잡음원인과 대책)

  • In this study, a system to measure continuously the fuel concentration in a steady flow rig on the basis of Rayleigh scattering is presented. The system can be employed to measure both the temporal and the spatial distribution. Also, it is possible to calibrate the system for the measurement of accurate absolute concentration. Firstly, the system was tested at a calibration chamber for the determination of scattering cross section from propane, butane, acetylene, Freon-12 and Genetron 143a. After this, the system was adapted to a steady flow rig to measure the temporal and spatial fuel concentration. The rig is composed of cylinder head, intake manifold, injector, and transparent cylinder which can simulate internal combustion engine. To cope with the interference of Mie scattering, which is main obstacle of the measuring concentration with Rayleigh scattering, a hardware filter was installed for reducing the number density of particles. Furthermore a software filter was developed, which is based on the rise time and the time constant of the photomultiplier-amplifier system. In addition, background noisy was reduced by adjusting the optical array and applying the pin hall and beam trap. The results show that LRS can provide useful information about concentration field and the software filter is very effective method to remove Mie interference.

GPS Anti-Jamming Using Beamforming Technique (빔포밍 기법을 이용한 GPS 재밍 대응)

  • Because GPS signals are weak, system jamming is a real and present danger. This can happen when the receiver is subjected to intentional or unintentional interference by a transmitter. If the jamming signal is strong enough, the receiver can be operated to take corrective action automatically. Current methods to protect GPS receiver from jamming condition are based on spatial filtering. In this paper, the beamforming as referred to in signal processing technique used in arrays for directional signal reception was suggested and analyzed for anti-jamming. In order to change the directionality of the array when receiving a jamming signal, a beamformer can control the signal at each sensor. Therefore, cutoff angle ${\theta}$ was measured in the opposite direction of the jammer. GPS signals are only processed when the antenna element is within inside the cutoff angle. As a result, GPS positioning can be used in condition under cutoff angle $30^{\circ}$.

Removing SAR Speckle Noise Based on the Edge Sharpenig Algorithm (경계선 보존을 기반으로 한 SAR 영상의 잡영 제거 알고리즘에 대한 연구)

  • 모든 SAR 영상에는 전자기파 간의 간섭으로 인한 스페클 잡영(speckle)이 존재하며, 이를 제거하는 것은 양질의 SAR 영상을 얻기 위한 필수적인 전처리 과정 중 하나라고 할 수 있다. 그러나 이러한 스페클 잡영을 제거하기 위하여 기존에 제안되었던 알고리즘은 잡영은 효과적으로 감소시키는 반면 경계선과 같은 영상의 고유 정보까지 함께 감소시키는 한계가 있었다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 SAR 영상의 경계선은 보존시키면서 영상으로부터 불필요한 잡영을 제거할 수 있는 알고리즘을 구현하고, 기존의 알고리즘과 비교하여 그 효율성을 평가하고자 한다. 영상의 통계적 특성에 근거하는 기존의 알고리즘과는 달리 웨이블렛 변환(Wavelet transform)으로 경계선 및 특징 정보의 여부를 판별한 후 평균 필터(mean filter)를 적용하는 경계선 보존(edge sharpening) 알고리즘은 경계 정보의 신뢰성을 향상시킬 수 있으며, 1차원 필터를 수평, 수직, 대각선, 역대각선 방향으로 적용함으로써 하나의 영상소를 중심으로 모든 방향에 대한 경계선 여부를 확인할 수 있는 장점이 있다. 본 연구에서는 512 × 512로 절취한 1-look SAR 영상에 대하여 창 크기 5 × 5의 경계선 보존 필터를 적용하고 동일영상에 대하여 기존의 Lee, Kuan, Frost 필터 등의 실험결과를 비교함으로써 그 적합성을 판단하고자 하였다. 실험결과에 대한 수치적인 평가는 ①정규화 평균을 이용하여 평균값의 보존 여부, ②편차 계수를 이용한 스페클 잡영의 제거 여부, ③경계선 보존지수(EPI)를 이용한 경계선의 보존 정도를 통해 이루어졌다. 본 연구의 실험결과를 통해 경계선 보존 필터는 평균값의 보존 여부 및 스페클 잡영 제거 정도에 있어 다른 필터들과 큰 차이가 없지만 경계선보존지수는 다른 필터들에 비하여 가장 우수함을 확인할 수 있었다.rbon 탐식효율을 조사한 결과 B, D 및 E 분획에서 유의적인 효과를 나타내었다. 이상의 결과를 종합해볼 때, ${\beta}$-glucan은 고용량일 때 직접적으로 또는 $IFN-{\gamma}$ 존재시에는 저용량에서도 복강 큰 포식세로를 활성화시킬 뿐 아니라, 탐식효율도 높임으로써 면역기능을 증진 시키는 것으로 나타났고, 그 효과는 crude ${\beta}$-glucan의 추출조건에 따라 달라지는 것을 알 수 있었다.eveloped.   • This paper addresses the problem of combining adaptive polarization processing and space-time processing for further performance improvement of radar target detection in clutter and Jammer environments. Since the most straightforward cascade combinations have quite limited performance improvement potentials, we focus on the development of adaptive processing in the joint polarization-space-time domain. Unlike a direct extension of some existing space-time processing algorithms to the joint domain, the processing algorithm developed in this paper does not need a potentially costly polarization filter bank to cover the unknown target polarization parameter. The performance of the new algorithm is derived and evaluated in terms of the probability of detection and the probability of false alarm, and it is compared with other algorithms that do not utilize the polarization information or assume that the target polarization is known.

Multibeam-based Subspace Approach for Code Acquisition in Antenna Array DS-CDMA Systems (안테나 어레이 DS-CDMA 통신 시스템에서 코드 동기 획득을 위한 다중 빔 기반의 부분공간 접근 방법)

  • In this paper, the use of an antenna array is considered for code timing acquisition of DS-CDMA signals. The probabilities of acquisition are evaluated by applying multiple narrow fixed-beams to the conventional MUSIC acquisition approach in the multiuser environment on the time-varying Rayleigh fading channel. Each fixed-beam for spatial filtering is dedicated to an individual angular sector that is formed by dividing the entire angular domain by the number of antenna elements. The fixed-beams with a capability of interference suppression provide the additional degrees of freedom,. Hence, the multibeam-based MUSIC estimator can be used to synchronize to more users than the conventional MUSIC algorithm for one antenna. The multibeam-based subspace method is evaluated to significantly improve the performance of a single antenna based MUSIC technique in multiuser scenarios.

Head Tracker System Using Two Infrared Cameras (두 대의 적외선 카메라를 이용한 헤드 트랙커 시스템)

  • In this paper, an experimental optical head tracker system is designed and constructed. The system is composed of the infrared LEDs and two infrared CCD cameras to filter out the interference of another light in the limited environment like the cockpit. Then the optical head tracker algorithm is designed by using the feature detection algorithm and the 3D motion estimation algorithm. The feature detection algorithm, used to obtain the 2D position coordinates of the features on the image plane, is implemented by using the thresholding and the masking techniques. The 3D motion estimation algorithm which estimates the motion of a pilot's head is implemented by using the extended Kalman filter (EKF). Also, we used the precise rate table to verify the performance of the experimental optical head tracker system and compared the rotational performance of this system with the inertial sensor.
