Study on Seismic Fragility Analysis of Water Supply Facilities (상수도 시설물의 지진 취약도)

  • In this study, The failure of water supply facilities is categorized into two phases: functional failure and complete collapse. The fragility curve of water supply facilities under PGA has been developed for two loading cases: actual overseas earthquake and Korean artificial earthquake. The seismic fragility of water supply facilities has been analyzed and compared about failure phases and PGA. From the analysis results, the probability of failure of the wrapped steel pipe and ductile case iron pipe under Korean artificial earthquake has been shown as lower than that under actual overseas earthquake in the range from 0.1 to 0.4. The suggested seismic fragility curve by using Korean artificial earthquake can be exploited in a reasonable seismic design reflecting Korean local ground condition.

A Scalable ECC Processor for Elliptic Curve based Public-Key Cryptosystem (타원곡선 기반 공개키 암호 시스템 구현을 위한 Scalable ECC 프로세서)

  • A scalable ECC architecture with high scalability and flexibility between performance and hardware complexity is proposed. For architectural scalability, a modular arithmetic unit based on a one-dimensional array of processing element (PE) that performs finite field operations on 32-bit words in parallel was implemented, and the number of PEs used can be determined in the range of 1 to 8 for circuit synthesis. A scalable algorithms for word-based Montgomery multiplication and Montgomery inversion were adopted. As a result of implementing scalable ECC processor (sECCP) using 180-nm CMOS technology, it was implemented with 100 kGEs and 8.8 kbits of RAM when NPE=1, and with 203 kGEs and 12.8 kbits of RAM when NPE=8. The performance of sECCP with NPE=1 and NPE=8 was analyzed to be 110 PSMs/sec and 610 PSMs/sec, respectively, on P256R elliptic curve when operating at 100 MHz clock.

  • 다목적댐의 유입량은 댐 저수지 관리 및 운영에 있어 중요한 고려사항으로, 정확한 유입량을 사용하는 것이 필수적이다. 댐 저수지 유입량은 유역의 물수지분석, 홍수조절 의사결정 등 이·치수적 측면에서 활용도가 높으며, 특히 기후변화로 인한 홍수나 가뭄의 발생이 빈번해진 최근의 상황에서 위기경보 운영 등 재난관리 측면에서도 그 중요성이 높아지고 있다. 현재 우리나라에서는 댐 저수지 유입량 산정에 방류량과 저수지 수위를 활용한 물수지방정식에 의한 방법을 공식적으로 활용하고 있다. 그러나 물수지방정식을 이용하여 계산된 유입량은 평수기와 갈수기 오차가 크고 음의 유입량 값이 발생하는 등 지속적인 개선의 필요성이 제기되었다. 이를 보완하기 위해 댐 저수지 직상류부 하천의 수위 측정치로부터 수위-유량곡선을 통해 유량을 산출하고, 그 값을 활용하여 댐 방류량을 추정하는 방법이 제시되었다. 그러나 직상류부 수위 측정이 불가능한 저수지에는 활용이 어렵기 때문에 다양한 지점에 적용할 수 없다는 한계가 있다. 본 연구에서는 기존 댐 저수지 유입량 산정방식의 한계를 보완하기 위해 수위계측이 어려운 지점에서도 유량 계산이 가능한 분포형 강우-유출모형 GRM(Grid based Rainfall-runoff model)을 연구에 활용하였다. 한강권역 내 K-water 운영 다목적댐인 소양강댐, 횡성댐, 충주댐 직상류부 유량과 분포형 강우-유출모형으로 계산된 유량을 비교하여 모의 유량자료의 활용성을 검토하였다. 다음으로 댐 유입지점-상류 관측지점 간 유량의 상관관계를 분석하였으며, 이를 통해 상류 하천에 흐르는 유량으로부터 댐 유입량을 계산할 수 있는 관계곡선식을 도출하였다. 본 연구에서 제시한 댐 유입량 산정방식은 관측지점의 다양성과 결과의 정확도를 향상시킬 수 있다는 측면에서 기존 방식 개선에 활용할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다. 또한 분석 절차의 표준화나 결과에 대한 다양한 검증이 이루어진다면, 홍수 및 가뭄의 위기경보 발령에 대한 참고자료로 활용이 가능할 것으로 판단된다.

Effect of Rainfall Distribution Types of Moving Rainstorms on Surface Runoff (이동강우의 공간적 분포형이 지표면유출에 미치는 영향)

  • Based on the kinematic wave equations, the influence of moving rainstorms on the surface runoff were analyzed with a focus on the rainfall distribution types. Applied hypothetical rainfall distribution types of moving rainstorms used are uniform, advanced, delayed and intermediate type. The moving rainstorm velocities applied in this study were $0.125{\sim}2.0m/s$ of moving upstream and downstream direction of plane surface. Simulations were undertaken by varying the rainfall distribution type, moving rainstorm velocity and moving direction, and the results were compared with that of stationary rainfall. The results indicate significant differences in peak discharges and hydrograph shapes for moving rainstorms of various rainfall patterns and moving directions. It shows that the moving rainstorms of downstream direction generate the largest peak runoff at all rainfall distributions. The sensitivity of runoff to rainfall distribution types decreases as storm velocity increases. It is clear that faster rainstorm velocity generates faster peak time and becomes thin hydrographs rapidly.

  • As a certain job is repeatedly done by a worker, the outcome comparative to the effort to complete the job gets more remarkable. The outcome may be the time required and fraction defective. This phenomenon is referred to a learning-curve effect. We focus on the parametric modeling of the learning-curve effects on count data using a logistic cumulative distribution function and some probability mass functions such as a Poisson and negative binomial. We conduct various simulation scenarios to clarify the characteristics of the proposed model. We also consider a real application to compare the two discrete-type distribution functions.

In-plane Free Vibrations of Horseshoe Circular Arch (마제형 원호 아치의 면내 자유진동)

  • This paper deals with in-plane free vibrations of the horseshoe circular arch. Simultaneous ordinary differential equations governing free vibration of the arch are derived with respect to the radial and tangential deformations. Particularly, differential equations are obtained under the arc length coordinate rather than the angular one in order to extend the horseshoe arch whose subtended angle is greater than ${\pi}$ radians. The differential equations are numerically solved for calculating the natural frequencies accompanying with the corresponding mode shapes. In parametric studies, effects of the rotatory inertia, slenderness ratio and circumferential arc length ratio on frequency parameters are extensively discussed.

CLASSIFICATION OF OGLE VARIABLES IN GALACTIC BULGE (은하벌지에서 발견된 OGLE 변광성의 분류)

  • The miscellaneous variables observed by OGLE Project of searching for dark matter in our Galaxy have been analyzed to find their characteristics. We investigated evolutionary status, shape of light curve, relationship between orbital period and amplitude of light variation for the miscellaneous variables. The miscellaneous variables except ellipsoidal variables are subgiants or giants. The shapes of the light curves are similar to those of nearby RS CVn type stars. The amplitudes of the light variations decrease rapidly as increasing their orbital periods for the variables whose periods are shorter than 30 days, while the amplitudes decrease slowly for the variables whose periods are longer that 30 days. Thus the OGLE miscellaneous variables are classified as the RS CVn type stars.

A Study on the Climb Flight Test of Light Airplane (경비행기의 상승 비행시험에 대한 연구)

  • This study is performed to find out the climb performance of light airplane, Chang Gong-91, as a part of flight test to acquire the certification. Chang Gong-91 is a 5-passenger light aircraft of normal category with single reciprocating engine, and the first officially certified by Korean Ministry of Construction and Transportation in 1993. These flight test procedure and data for climb performance are used to get type certification. We have got maximum climb rate for operating altitude, best angle of climb speed, best rate of climb speed, and absolute ceiling of Chang Gong-91 using drag polar data reduction method from sawtooth climb flight data. Also we compare the form drag coefficient from the results of climb performance and Oswald's effectiveness coefficient to design values using lift-drag curve of light airplane.

Design of a Elliptic Curve Crypto-Processor for Hand-Held Devices (휴대 단말기용 타원곡선 암호 프로세서의 설계)

  • The more improved the Internet and the information technology, the stronger cryptographic system is required which can satisfy the information security on the platform of personal hand-held devices or smart card system. This paper introduces a case study of designing an elliptic curve cryptographic processor of a high performance that can be suitably used in a wireless communicating device or in an embedded system. To design an efficient cryptographic system, we first analyzed the operation hierarchy of the elliptic curve cryptographic system and then implemented the system by adopting a serial cell multiplier and modified Euclid divider. Simulation result shows that the system was correctly designed and it can compute thousands of operations per a secdond.
