Development of Non-Destructive Sorting Technique for Viability of Watermelon Seed by Using Hyperspectral Image Processing (초분광 영상기술을 이용한 수박종자 발아여부 비파괴 선별기술 개발)

  • Seed viability is one of the most important parameters that is directly related with seed germination performance and seedling emergence. In this study, a hyperspectral imaging (HSI) system having a range of 1000-2500 nm was used to classify viable watermelon seeds from nonviable seeds. In order to obtain nonviable watermelon seeds, a total of 96 seeds were artificially aged by immersing the seeds in hot water ($25^{\circ}C$) for 15 days. Further, hyperspectral images for 192 seeds (96 normal and 96 aged) were acquired using the developed HSI system. A germination test was performed for all the 192 seeds in order to confirm their viability. Spectral data from the hyperspectral images of the seeds were extracted by selecting pixels from the region of interest. Each seed spectrum was averaged and preprocessed to develop a classification model of partial least square discriminant analysis (PLS-DA). The developed PLS-DA model showed a classification accuracy of 94.7% for the calibration set, and 84.2% for the validation set. The results demonstrate that the proposed technique can classify viable and nonviable watermelon seeds with a reasonable accuracy, and can be further converted into an online sorting system for rapid and nondestructive classification of watermelon seeds with regard to viability.

  • This paper presents a real-time Hausdorff matching algorithm for tracking of moving object acquired from an active camera. The proposed method uses the edge image of object as its model and uses Hausdorff distance as the cost function to identify hypothesis with the model. To enable real-time processing, a high speed approach to calculate Hausdorff distance and half cross matching method to improve performance of existing search methods are also presented. the experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method can accurately track moving object in real-time.

  • In this paper dose a laver surface check using a real time image process. This system does false retrieval of a laver at a laver production line. At first, a laver image was read in real time using a CCD camera. In this paper, we use an area scan CCD camera. Image is converted into a binary code image using a high-speed imaging process board afterwards. A laver feature is extracted by a binary code image. Surface false retrieval is finally executed using a laver feature. In this paper, we use an area feature of a laver image.

  • Recently, in power system, even though the needs of protective IED(Intelligent Electronic Device) is highly increased, there are some problems in the field when use the IED. When the IED is in the fluctuated overload condition, because of the existing algorithm calculate the trip time only with the measured current of just previous measuring stage, the calculated trip time is not a proper value for the overload protection at this kind of condition, and when the load current fluctuate between overload and normal condition, because of the instantaneous reset characteristic of existing algorithm the IED dose not trip. And the non linear loads using power electronic elements seem to be increased. These non linear loads require a counterplan about various harmonics incoming to electric power systems. So we will give solutions about these problems.

  • Iris recognition is a biometric technology which can identify a person using the iris pattern. Recently, using iris information is used in many fields such as access control and information security. But Perform complex operations to extract features of the iris. because High-end hardware for real-time iris recognition is required. This paper is appropriate for the embedded environment using local gradient histogram embedded system using iris feature extraction methods have implement. Experimental results show that the performance of proposed method is comparable to existing methods using Gabor transform noticeably improves recognition performance and it is noted that the processing time of the local gradient histogram transform is much faster than that of the existing method and rotation was also a strong attribute.

  • This paper presents a new two-terminal numerical algorithm for fault location estimation and for faults recognition using the synchronized phaser in time-domain. The proposed algorithm is also based on the synchronized voltage and current phasor measured from the assumed PMUs(Phasor Measurement Units) installed at both ends of the transmission lines. Also the arc voltage wave shape is modeled numerically on the basis of a great number of arc voltage records obtained by transient recorder. From the calculated arc voltage amplitude it can make a decision whether the fault is permanent or transient. In this paper the algorithm is given and estimated using DFT(discrete Fourier Transform) and the LES(Least Error Squares Method). The algorithm uses a very short data window and enables fast fault detection and classification for real-time transmission line protection. To test the validity of the proposed algorithm, the Electro-Magnetic Transient Program(EMTP/ATP) is used.

  • Information technology improves convenience, safety, and performance of automobiles. Recently, a lot of algorithms are studied to provide safety and environment information for driving, and traffic sign recognition is one of them. It can provide important information for safety driving. In this paper, we propose a method for traffic sign detection and identification concentrating on reducing the computation time. First, potential traffic signs are segmented by color threshold, and a polygon approximation algorithm is used to detect appropriate polygons. The potential signs are compared with the template signs in the database using SURF and ORB feature matching method.

  • This paper presents the frequency spectral analysis based on FFT of the infrared ray fire thermal image, it is an object to deduce the conditions for determining fire alarm through the image processing with the frequency domain. After the candidate regions are separated by using pre-defined brightness value, the fast fourier transform is performed for consecutive infrared thermal images, the frequency spectral analysis of the thermal image analyzed DC and AC frequency distribution. The fire criterion of the thermal image was presented based on the analyzed result and a practicality was confirmed through the computer simulation.

  • The cover song refers to live recordings or reproduced albums. This paper studies two-dimensional Fourier transform as a feature-dimension reduction method to search cover song fast. The two-dimensional Fourier transform is conducive in feature-dimension reduction for cover song search due to musical-key invariance. This paper extends the previous work, which only utilize the magnitude of the Fourier transform, by introducing an invariant from phase based on the assumption that adjacent frames have the same musical-key change. We compare the cover song retrieval accuracy of the Fourier-transform based methods over two datasets. The experimental results show that the addition of the invariant from phase improves the cover song retrieval accuracy over the previous magnitude-only method.
