Surface Texture and Roughness of inclined surface milled by Long neck ball endmill (리브가공용 롱엔드밀의 경사면 가공시 표면형상 및 조도)

  • High speed machining experiment on the inclined surfaces of hardened mold steel(STAVAX at hardness HRC 53) is carried out using the long-neck type ball endmill. Surface texture and roughness are compared fur various cutting conditions. Tool overhang length greatly affects the roughness of machined surface. It is found that, fur this type of long-neck endmill, the chip load should be carefully selected by reducing either the axial depth of cut or feedrate to avoid tool vibration. Feedrate adjustment is more appropriate method in terms of tool wear.

  • We report experimental results on the high-speed micromachining using a femtosecond laser (800 nm, 130 fs, 1kHz) and galvanometer scanner system (Raylase, Germany). Periodic hole drilling of silicon and glass with the scan speed of 1-20 mm/s is demonstrated. Finally, we demonstrate the utility of the femtosecond laser application to ITO patterning by using a high-speed femtosecond laser scanner system.

  • The wavelet transform is a popular tool for studying intermittent and localized phenomena in signals. In this study the wavelet transform of cutting force signals was conducted for the detection of a tool failure in turning process. We used the Daubechies wavelet analyzing function to detect a sudden change in cutting signal level. A preliminary stepped workpiece which had intentionally a hard condition was cut by the inserted cermet tool and a tool dynamometer obtained cutting force signals. From the results of the wavelet transform, the obtained signals were divided into approximation terms and detailed terms. At tool failure, the approximation signals were suddenly increased and the detailed signals were extremely oscillated just before tool failure.

  • 초미세 레이저 가공기술은 미세화, 대면적화, 고속화의 방향으로 발전되고 있다. 이에 따라 이를 대응한 레이저의 사양도 파장의 단파장화 또는 펄스폭의 극초단화, 펄스 반복률의 고반복률화, 출력의 고출력화가 요구되고 있다. 극초단 펄스레이저는 사용자 편의성, 안정성 측면에서 산업체의 요구에 미흡하다. 이에 따라 산업용 초미세 레이저 가공을 위한 광원으로 고품질, 고출력의 단파장 자외선 레이저 활용에 집중하고 있다. 현재 고품질 자외선 레이지는 DPSSL 형태로 구성되어 출시되고 있고, 거의 대부분 수입에 의존하고 있다. 국내외 자외선 UV 현황을 간단히 기술하고, 광주과기원 고등광기술연구소에서 산업원천기술개발사업의 일환으로 개발중인 복합형 자외선 DPSSL에 대한 개발 계획 레이저 특성과 현재의 개발 진행 상황을 소개한다.

  • 정보처리의 다양화, 고속화를 위하여 장래의 집적회로는 다량의 정보를 단시간에 처리하지 않으면 안된다. 종래, 3년에 4배의 고집적화가 실현되어 LSI개발에 기술 견인차의 역할을 하고 있는 DRAM(Dynamic Random Access Memory)은 미세화기술의 한계를 우려하면서도 오히려 개발에 박차를 가하고 있다. 이러한 DRAM의 미세, 대용량화에는 미세가공 기술, 새로운 메모리 셀과 트랜지스터 기술, 새로운 회로 기술, 그 이외에 재료박막기술, Computer aided design/Design automation(CAD/DA) 기술, 검사평가기술 혹은 소형팩키지(package)기술등의 광범위한 기술발전이 뒷받침되어 왔다. 그 중에서 미세가공 기술 및 새로운 트랜지스터 기술과 메모리 셀 기술을 중심으로 개발 동향을 살펴보고 최근에 발표된 1Gbit DRAM의 시제품 기술에 대하여 분석해 보기로 한다.

  • High speed milling experiment on the hardened mold steel (CALMAX at hardness of HRc 55) is carried out using small diameter ball endmill. Tool lift and wear characteristics under the various machining parameters are investigated. Effect of dynamic runout on the wear of the tool is also studied. For most of the cases, catastrophic chipping of tool edge is not observed and uniformly distributed wear on the flank surface of the tool is obtained. It is found that lower rate of tool wear is obtained as the cutting speed is increased. Also, high pick feed rate is found to be more favorable in terms of tool wear and material removal rate.

  • In this paper, we studied a machining method using a diffractive beam splitter (DBS) and multi- pulse repeated radiation for breathable film. We fabricated micro-grooves on polypropylene (PP) films using multi-pulse radiation and one-shot radiation (radiating pulses at once) and a DBS. In the result, width and depth of the PP film using multi-pulse repeated radiation were more precisely controllable. Therefore, this method can be applicable to in manufacturing breathable film precisely at a high speed.

  • The design parameter study about the magnetic pulse forming is performed using finite element analysis with MAXWELL. The first case of design parameters is about the initial charging voltage and the capacitance and the second case of design parameters are about the winding turns and the spacing of electromagnetic coil. The 3D finite element model of electromagnetic forming system is created and the magnetic force is calculated. The effects of design parameters on the magnetic forming force are investigated.

  • In the machine tool spindle, various tasks ranging from roughing to finishing must be possible, and the functions of constant speed movement or rotation positioning must be performed. Therefore, there are many variables to be considered in the spindle design. The Swiss Turn Type spindle automatic lathe is a good machine tool for working pins with thinner shafts than a fixed automatic lathe. The Swiss Turn Type spindle is mainly used for precision machining of small products, so the machining precision should be high. The maximum outer diameter limit shall be Ø32 and the inner diameter limit shall be Ø6. In this study, the static and dynamic characteristics of the SCM440 material used in the spindle type automatic lathe were analyzed by applying it to the Swiss turn type spindle automatic lathe. Numerical analysis was used to obtain optimal design technique with high speed and high accuracy considering the factors affecting the static and dynamic characteristics of the spindle.

Effects of Phenolic and Phosphite Antioxidants on the properties for PC/ABS Blends during High-Shear-Rate Processing (고속 전단 가공에서 페놀계와 인산계 산화방지제에 의한 PC/ABS 블렌드의 물성 변화 연구)

  • The effects of antioxidants on the properties of Polycarbonate/Acrylonitrile-Butadiene-Styrene(PC/ABS) blends were studied for the functions of the screw speed and loaded duration of high shear rate processing in order to investigate the degradation for PC/ABS blends. Tris-(2,4-di-tert-butyl-phenyl phosphate) (A1) and Bis(2,4-dicumylphenyl) pentaerythritol diphosphite (A3) as phosphite antioxidants and Octadecyl 3-(3,5-di-tert-butyl-4-hydroxyphenyl) propionate (A2) as a phenolic antioxidant are used. The thermal properties were detected by TGA and severely decreased, after the processing. The stress-induced and thermal degradation for PC/ABS blends with the antioxidant A3 was retarded better than the others. By using UTM, the mechanical properties also showed individually decreased according to the antioxidants, after the processing, especially, the elongations showed considerable decline behaviors, while the tensile strengths of PC/ABS blends changed very little. For example, in the operating conditions of 1000rpm of screw speed and 20 seconds of loaded period, the elongations decreased from 148% before the processing, to 91.6% with the A1, to 63% with the A2 and to 131% with the A3 after the processing, respectively. In order to get the morphological properties, the size distributions of the dispersed phases for PC/ABS were investigated by SEM analysis and tended to decrease, as the screw speed and loaded period of the processing increased. Therefore, we confirmed that the antioxidant A3 was the best of all of three to inhibit the stress-induced degradation of PC/ABS blends during the high shear rate processing.
