The population is aging rapidly in Korea. From that point of view, 'aging' becomes our reality, and the progression of aging brings about far-reaching changes throughout the whole country. The developed countries are making vigorous preparations for aging now, but our country has not been doing well. So it is necessary to research the counter plan for aging. As an aged society is coming dose at hand, we need the urgent overall countermeasures to decrease the difficulties and troubles the elderly are suffering in their daily lives. This thesis studied the documents and literatures on the fundamental direction of design in preparation for an aged society. The fundamental direction of design needs the conversion to the view that will enable society to cope with the problems of aging. One of solutions for them is Universal Design. Universal Design should be embodied with synthetic and diversified approaches and strategies. 1 expect the healthy aged society with Universal Design mind to build the society where everyone can live together.

This study examines the factors that influence the mobile social participation of elderly disabled people compared to that of young adults with disabilities. The analysis was conducted using Heckman's two-stage model. The first stage of the research focused on the populations who have mobile devices, while the second stage focused on factors that influence mobile social participation. The results of the study are as follows: for elderly people with disabilities, mobile social participation is associated with living alone, PC usage ability, mobile usage ability, internet usage ability, and attitude towards digital use. Based on the results of this research, this study presents a plan to support the mobile social participation of elderly people with disabilities.

최근 유행하고 있는 '9988234'라는 이 숫자 조합의 의미를 알고 있는가? '9988234'는 99세까지 88하게 살다가 2~3일 앓다가 죽는다는 걸 의미한다. 2000년에 이미 고령화사회로 진입해 2018년 고령사회로 진입할 것으로 예상되는 우리나라는 세계에서 가장 짧은 기간에 고령사회에 도달하는 국가가 될 것으로 전망된다. 초고속 고령화사회를 보내고 있는 우리나라이기에 이제는 '9988234'의 의미에 'Well'까지 부여해야 하지 않을까?

고령사회로 들어서면서 장수의 개념에 대한 인식을 새롭게 해야 할 필요성이 커지고 있다. 장수라는 용어를 단순한 연령적, 시간적 개념이 아니라 사회적 측면에서 보다 능동적이고 적극적인 삶을 영위할 수 있는 새로운 계층의 출현이라는 개념으로 인식해야 할 시점이 된 것이다. 새롭게 도출되는 장수문화란 종래의 연령적 특수계층인 고령자 중심의 노인문화라는 개념이 아니라 고령사회에서 사회구성원인 인간들이 남녀노소 모두 함께 어우러져 인간으로서의 존엄성을 유지하면서 건강하게 살고 사회적 책임을 다할 수 있는 관념 및 규범체계가 아닐까?

This study explored the tendencies of public perception and countermeasures on an aging society by the content analysis of Korea's four major daily newspapers since 2000. Results showed distinguishing growth of the public interest on an aging society. Articles were categorized into five domains - demographic structure, family and individual domain, health domain, economic and financial domain, and social domain. Economic and financial aspects occupied the highest frequency in the total number of articles. The analysis of public perception revealed both negative and positive perspectives on an aging society. In addition, the analysis of the newspaper articles identified particular phenomenon of Korean aging society as distinct rapid aging population, declining fertility rates caused by higher educational expenses, national security problems. Consequently, when we prepare for the alternatives of the aging society, we should pay attention to more various aspects of society based on the understanding of practical problems and needs. Furthermore, researches and discussions focusing on a particular phenomenon of Korea would be required.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the factors that interrupt the use of social security of elderly North Korean refugees. As a result of qualitative content analysis using interview data, it is found that the elderly North Korean defectors have a lower access to the social security system. The main reason for hindering the use of social security system is low awareness due to limited information channels, psychological distance to South Korean society and residents. Moreover, this psychological distance is a factor that reduces the geographical accessibility of elderly North Korean defectors by preferring to use services in specific institutions for North Korean, while South Korean elderly people can use the service elsewhere. In addition, there are many cases in which the elderly in North Korean defectors do not receive sufficient social security due to low income. On the other hand, social security systems with high accessibility of older North Korean refugees are characterized by the fact that they are provided by experts who have formed sufficient rapport with North Korean refugees. Therefore, it seems possible to improve the accessibility of elderly defectors' friendly system by professional workers with cultural competence. In addition, a multidimensional approach is needed to fully cope with the complex desires of elderly North Korean defectors and a mechanism should be set up to reflect their opinion in system operation.

We need to recognize the overall changes in Korean society with understanding the situation of the characteristic and actual living condition of the elderly, so to prepare efficient and active policies at the moment from aging society to aged society. Based on the 2008 national survey data of the actual living condition of the elderly and welfare need, the living condition of the elderly for household and individual information is identified and the effects on the life satisfaction of these variables are statistically analyzed. Therefore, this paper might help to establish the aged social policies with realistic validity and suitability and extend the academical understanding of Korean society.

고령화사회(aging society)에 접어 들자 마자, 세계적으로 유례없이 빠른 속도로 고령사회(aged society)에 우리나라가 다가가고 있다. 이러한 과정에서 과거 노인에 대한 개념을 재정비하고 새로운 고령사회에 대비한 장수문화 창출이 시급하다. 노화란 개념에 대해서도 불가피하고 비가역적인 생체의 변화를 거쳐서 죽음에 이르는 도정이라는 피동적이고 자포자기적인 결정론적 시각을 불식하고, 노화가 생명체의 생존을 위한 적응적 반응성 변화이며, 그러한 변화의 요인이 충분히 제어가 가능한 생체의 변화임을 분명하게 인지하여야 할 것이다. 따라서 기능적 장수(Functional Longevity)라는 새로운 개념을 제안하고, 이러한 기능적 장수를 추구함에 있어서 장수문화와 장수과학의 정립이 시급함을 강조하였다.

The proportion of people aged 65 or older in the world's major advanced nations is increasing to a significant extent. Aging population causes various socioeconomic problems. One of the most important issues is the welfare of the elderly. Advanced foreign countries that have already experienced aging early are investing a lot of money or legal system to provide welfare services necessary for old age such as income security system for the elderly, health care service for the elderly, and long-term protection problems. The contents of the social welfare legislation including the welfare of the elderly are closely related to the society, politics, economy, and culture of each country. Both Korea and Japan are actively intervening in the social security of the nation based on the constitutional ideology. The elderly welfare Act is a time when more careful diagnosis is needed because it is in the process of establishing the basic direction based on human dignity and pursuing the most efficient way to achieve it in such an ideology and reality. Therefore, in this study, based on the Elderly Welfare Act of Japan, which is the selection country of aging, I would like to examine the implications for the Elderly Welfare Act in Korea.

고령화사회에 접어들며 고령운전자의 교통사고 비율이 높아지고 있다. 현재 사회적 문제로 자리 잡은 고령운전자의 교통사고 문제는 고령화사회가 진행될수록 더 많은 문제를 야기하게 될 것이다. 본 논문은 고령화 사회로의 변화와 고령운전자의 특성과 대책에 대한 현황과 문제점을 알아보는데 그 목적이 있다. 이를 기반으로 안전 약자에 대한 사고 비율을 감소시킬 수 있는 교통신호등 디자인을 위한 지속적인 후속연구가 진행될 것이다.
