  • The purpose of this study was to acquire the better and more correct information on the school uniforms with which middle or high school students may be satisfied. We investigated clothing interest, school uniform satisfaction, school uniform modification behavior and the relationship anions those factors. The data were collected from 472 questionnaires of middle and high school students who lived in Gyeonggi-do and analyzed statistically. We found that adolescents felt a great interest in appearance, fashion, brand orientation of clothing, and they spent most of personal expenses in buying clothes. However, the extent of adolescents' satisfaction on school uniform was low. Especially, the satisfaction on status symbolism, fashion, washing & management, body comfort and economical efficiency of school uniform was found low. Three hundred fifty three students (74.8%) agreed to modify the school uniform for personality and in chase of fashion. Two hundred eighty four students (58.1%) needed partially and variously modified school uniform, and these modifications showed a tendency of tightness to the body. We also found that the higher adolescents' clothing interests in appearance, conformity, modesty and brand orientation were. the more satisfied adolescents were with the status symbolism and the washing & management of school uniform and the more affected the school uniform modification behaviors of students were. There were. however. no significant difference between the extent of school uniform satisfaction and the school uniform modification behavior, Another research of school uniform will be necessary in order to reduce the discrepancy between clothing needs for representing the appearance, personality and fashion in the present adolescents and those for representing the worthy and modest images of a student and pursuing the economic value through school uniform in the older generation. We suggest that students should consider these results when they choose school uniform and furthermore both the person in charge of schools and school uniform makers should refer to those when they design and make school uniform.

  • The adolescent period, during which physical, spiritual, and physiological growth and development occurs, is important for the development of healthy dietary habits. Particularly, eating a regular breakfast improves eating habits and school life in adolescents but few studies have investigated the effects of eating breakfast on these outcomes. Therefore, this research was performed to investigate the effects of eating a regular breakfast provided by the 'Breakfast Club Program' on eating behaviors and school life. A total of 315 high school students were recruited for the program from 10 high schools in nine districts among 25 districts in Seoul during August to December of 2013. The average age was $17.8{\pm}0.8$ years and 38.1% of students were females. Based on 315 subjects, 38.3%, 35.7%, and 17.1% increased their intakes of breakfast (P=0.001), fruit (P=0.033), and milk (P<0.001) up to 5~7 times per week, respectively. The intake frequency of fruit (P<0.001) and eating breakfast (P<0.001) increased noticeably after program participation. Based on 64 students performing dietary record, intakes of cereals (P<0.001), mushrooms (P=0.027), and fruits (P=0.002) increased while intakes of eggs (P=0.001) and fat and oils (P=0.019) decreased after the program. Consumption of energy (P=0.004), plant protein (P=0.012), carbohydrates (P<0.001), dietary fiber (P=0.026), iron from plant sources (P=0.009), potassium (P=0.043), zinc (P=0.013), vitamin $B_1$ (P=0.043), and vitamin C (P<0.001) increased whereas intake of cholesterol (P=0.002) decreased. Regarding school life, the score for 'comfortable and cheerful starting of a day' (P=0.001) and 'healthy starting of a day' (P<0.001) increased significantly. This study indicates that a regular 'Breakfast Club Program' may establish healthy eating habits and school life in teenagers.

  • This study was conducted to examine the differences of anger expression style and cognitive characteristics among adolescents depending on the level of game addiction and game engagement. 420 high school boys were administered the Game Addiction/Engagement Scale, Behavioral Anger Response Questionnaire to measure anger expression style, and Irrational Belief Scale to measure cognitive characteristics. The results of correlation analyses showed that addiction had positive correlations with all the irrational belief factors and behavior anger factors except for assertion and avoidance. Engagement was positively correlated with all the variables except for direct anger-out, avoidance, and self-downing. Participants were divided into three groups depending on the level of addiction and engagement. Addiction high risk-low engagement group showed the lowest scores on support-seeking and the highest scores on diffusion and self-downing. Addiction high risk-high engagement group showed the highest scores on direct anger-out. Based on these findings, it was suggested that counselling strategies for adolescents at high risk of game addiction need to be varied depending on the level of game engagement.

Second, irrational belief of gambling, impulsiveness, and smartphone addiction were important explanatory variables to discriminate between the addiction risk group and the non-addicted group. In addition, as a result of examining the relative importance of the variables, irrational belief of gambling was the most important, followed by impulsiveness and smartphone addiction. • This article examines psychological factors that contribute to educational achievement of Korean adolescents. By reviewing empirical research, three core areas are outlined. First, positive and negative roles that Korean society play on academic achievement are analyzed. Compared to other countries, Korean society places a high premium, pressure an investment on educational achievement. This has contributed to the rapid economic growth and development, but at the same time it has created numerous social problems. Second, psychological and relational dynamics of investing in and achieving success in education are delineated. Through indigenous psychological analysis, the role parents play in motivating and regulating their children to succeed academically is reviewed. In addition, the role of teachers and friends and the coordinated efforts of Korean society are outlined. Third, future directions and transformations in education that are needed in Korean society are discussed. Although Korean adolescents are high achievers in high school, this is not the case at the university level. Since Korean students are interested in entering a prestigious university, they have developed skills in doing well in standardized tests. Educational reforms need to take into consideration individuals' personal interests, skills and creativity to ensure that the knowledge that they acquired can be used to further their career and improve their subjective well-being. Educational transformation does not imply simply adopting Western models, but developing indigenous models that can maximize human and cultural potential and stimulate curiosity, diversity and creativity that are necessary in the global era.

Adolescent children of problem drinkers reported lower level of perceived parental care and higher level of perceived parental overprotection compared to the children of nonproblem drinkers. They also reported higher depression, anxiety and alcohol expectancies, as well as more alcohol involvement and delinquent behaviors. Multiple regression analyses were performed seperately for male and female adolescents with depression, anxiety, alcohol expectancies, alcohol involvement and self-reported delinquency as outcome variables.
