With the help of the advancements in information and communication, information appliances are changing. Flat panels made it possible for information appliances to become smaller in size and lighter in weight, and high end graphics provide increase in realistic and immersive use. Even with these advancements interest in design for laboratory equipment tend to only stay on a level of the exterior of the equipment, not to the point of designing the interface of display GUI. Inspired with the problem above this research would contain the preference analysis ondisplay GUI design considering the characteristics of the main users and the laboratory equipment itself. The test would be held through comparison of graphic-based display GUI and text-based display GUI and analyzing the task time and number of errors made, looking for which display GUI scientist prefer. The test results show that text-based GUI has a higher efficiency but the actual users preferred the graphic-based display GUI.

This study aimed to investigate the differential effects of self-relevance on framing effects. For this purpose, the participants were allocated into two frame type conditions(positive vs. negative), and asked to respond on six decision-making scenarios manipulated by self-relevance levels(low vs. high). The results can be summarized as followings. First, although self-relevance level made no significant difference in framing effects, the positive frame condition tended to induce larger framing effects than the negative frame condition. Second, no significant interaction effect between frame type and self-relevance level condition was found in the positive condition, whereas high self-relevance level condition induced smaller framing effects than law self-relevance level condition in the negative frame condition. These results indicated that although self-relevance tended to reduce framing effects, this effect can be differed in frame types.

The Scale of Positive and Negative Experience (SPANE) is a newly developed emotional scale to measure well-being that was designed to overcome the limitations of the previous emotional scales (Diener et al., 2010). It comprises 12 items that measure positive and negative emotional experiences, including general (e.g., positive, negative) and specific (e.g., joyful, sad) items. It also reflects all levels of arousal. This study examined the factor structure and gender invariance of the Korean version of the SPANE. For this purpose, responses to the scale of a sample of 551 Korean college students (276 males and 275 females) were analyzed. The results exhibited high internal consistency reliability and construct validity for a Korean population. Furthermore, the configural, metric, and scalar invariance of the SPANE held across gender. These results suggest that the Korean version of the SPANE is a valid scale for measuring the emotional experiences of Korean students, and it is appropriate to use in future studies of gender difference in emotional well-being.

The field of design is expanding and diversified in modern society while several new functions are presented by converging a variety of fields of knowledge. There are changes happening in people's way of thinking, sensitivity and behaviors as they are seeking for a new way of expression and aesthetic values. Accordingly, the black and white drawings are increasing as a new way of recognition of tradition or new materials. This paper is to make a study of the expression methods and their analysis of the black and white drawings, based on their historical and social background, and has suggested black and white expression methods as an aesthetic value consistent with the traditional oriental beauty and emotional sensitivity. This paper is also aimed at studying practical usage of the expression of black and white drawings shown in the TV-CM design, and expanding the scope of design by analyzing the conception, features, and classification of the black and white drawings and searching for a new technique or an oriental expression method.

Due to the development of digital technology, users can record their daily lives without being restricted by time and space. The trend is growing rapidly, but lifelogging cases are still insufficient. Google's Timeline and domestic application 'Daily' were analyzed through in-depth interviews. Based on the Creating Pleasurable Interface Model, the factors influencing user satisfaction were identified by the Reckard 7-point scale based on the Honeycomb model. The results of the in-depth interviews and the 7-point scale were similar, and we could see what and why users preferred the recording application. This study is meaningful to evaluate the user experience for recording application and analyzing the needs of users obtained through in-depth interviews to assess the usability that provide a service record and recall.

Various industrial sectors have formally turned to Green Development, practicing eco-design with the goal of saving the environment. Such trend can also be applied to jewelry design and production. Jewelry, which emerged with the birth of humankind, has been a contributing factor to environmental pollution and depletion of resources due to mass production and reckless consuming patterns of the 20th century. With the arrival of the World economic crises, however, the consumption of jewelry has dropped and now the industry desperately needs a boost for revival. In this paper, we propose a way to recycle waste materials and turn them into a new kind of jewelry. We introduce various junk materials that can be reused, and how to reuse them. The new type of jewelry we aim for is environment-friendly, low-cost, and unique as opposed to identical mass production of the past. The eco-design product will likely add new value to jewelry industry. The product targets sophisticated modern consumers with conscientious, environmentally aware consuming patterns. To fulfill the needs of these consumers, we propose methods of upcycling from junk to jewelry, by combining precious stones with waste materials.

This paper describes a Voice User Interface(VUI) method and a design guideline tool which supports the studies for domestic appliance. This issue covers specification of user requirement and selection of appropriate VUI to represent speech generation. The criteria for paper is interaction design to enhance user engagement. The studies were carried out to measure prototype of domestic appliance such as a refrigerator, a washing machine, a Gimchi refrigerator, an oven range, a dishwasher and an air conditioner. This paper is presented a study of user preferences and suitability. The results of these findings to voice interface design are discussed and it is suggested that VUI guideline and optimal prototyping can provide a useful application tools in the design process.

In accordance with escalating demands for advanced technology products, the smart clothing that includes embedded ICT technology have expanded into fields of daily life. As a result of this trend, interest in smart clothing with digitally controllable heating has rapidly grown and the market for smart heated clothing has also expanded. Increasing of prospect in smart heated clothing market, the effectiveness and thermal sensation research of the location on the pad attached is insufficient. This study was conducted to find the optimal location of heated clothing via experimental research on changes in skin temperature and subjective thermal sensation when heating pads were placed on different areas of the body. For this experiment, the subjects consisted of 10 males in their 20's of standard physique. The skin temperature at 11 different areas of the body, rectal temperature, and subjective thermal sensation were taken at different stages (before testing, after a 20 minute rest period, 20 minute treatment period, and after a 40 minute recovery period) in an artificial-climate chamber at $-5^{\circ}C$. As a result, the optimal location for heating pads in smart clothing was estimated and suggested.

The purpose of this study was to examine effects of treadmill running training on superoxide product of spontaneously hypertensive rats. 20 males aged five week old rats were used for the experiments. They were randomly selected into experimental group (10 rats) and control group (10 rats) after being housed in laboratory for two weeks. The rats of experimental group performed treadmill exercise from 15 minutes for the first time to 35 minutes for the last one in order to familiar with experimental protocol ($VO_{2}max\;65{\sim}70%$, 0.9km/h, 5 times/week, 35 minutes/session). They began to perform treadmill running at the age of eight weeks for eight weeks. Superoxide production and NADPH oxidase activities were measured on the aortal from end of experiment. All statistical analyses and description methods were computed by SPSS Version 10.0. Differences in the values between experimental group and control group were calculated using t-tests. The results of this study were: there wewe no significant differences in superoxide production, NADPH oxidase-drivened superoxide activity, NADPH oxidase activity between two groups (p>.05). Spontaneously hypertensive rats of experimental group were characterized by higher superoxide production and lower NADPH oxidase-drivened superoxide activity and NADPH oxidase activity in comparison with the control group. One possible explanation of this finding was that NADPH oxidase activity of experimental group was lower than the control group. It can be concluded that treadmill running for eight weeks was associated positively with superoxide product of spontaneously hypertensive rats.

This paper proposed a new time adapted threshold using the standard deviations of Wavelet coefficients after Wavelet transform by frame scale. The time adapted threshold is set up using the sum of standard deviations of Wavelet coefficient in cA3 and weighted cDl. cA3 coefficients represent the voiced sound with low frequency and cDl coefficients represent the unvoiced sound with high frequency. From simulation results, it is demonstrated that the proposed algorithm improves SNR and MSE performance more than Wavelet transform and Wavelet packet transform does. Moreover, the reconstructed signals by the proposed algorithm resemble the original signal in terms of plosive sound, fricative sound and affricate sound but Wavelet transform and Wavelet packet transform reduce those sounds seriously.
