Effects of Orchard Environments and Landscape Features on the Population Occurrence of Major Lepidopteran Pests in Apple Orchards (과원 환경과 경관 요소가 사과원 주요 나방류 해충 발생에 미치는 영향)

  • Landscape composition and structure are important factors determining biological diversity including pests and natural enemires in agricultural ecosystem. This study was conducted to indentify effect of landscape composition on occurrence of lepidopteran pest population in Geochang, Gyoungdnam. For this, orchard characteristics and management practices were surveyed in 80 conventional apple orchards in Geochang, Korea, along with the monitoring of pest population densities. The landscape features of each surveyed orchard also obtained by extracting information from the public-service map. Grapholita molesta was the most dominat and damaging pest followed by Phyllonorycter ringoniella and Carposina sasakii in trap catches. Adoxophyes paraorana occurrences were low. Farmers spray insecticides and fungicides ap. 12.4 times per year respectively while acaricides were sprayed 2.4 times. Major landscape features such as surrounding apple orchard or paddy field did not influence the pest populations but presence of plum, peach, wild peach, graph, and even abandoned orchards significantly resulted in higher pest population mostly on G. molesta. C. sasakii population was higher in orchards with grape, peach, and P. ringoniella with peach, grape, abandoned orchards and jujube. Results highlight the need of landscape management not only for the rural amenity but also for increasing functional diversity of agroecosystem as well as reducing pest population.

The Current Status and Challenges of Forest Landscape Models (산림 경관 모형의 현황과 과제)

  • Korea now boasts a vastly forested landscape resulting from a successful forest restoration projects carried out in the past several decades. However, Korea's forest now face new challenges, such as the rapidly increasing mature forests, climate change, and various novel forest disturbances with both natural and anthropogenic causes. Considering the extensive spatial and temporal scale of the forests and the challenges it face, it is necessary to utilize a tool that can properly tackle the issues with such nature. This brings our attention to Forest Landscape Models, which have been actively developed and used to improve our understanding of how forests respond to a variety of changes and to satisfy the society's demand on forests and its ecosystem services. A large variety of Forest Landscape Models exist, with a wide spectrum of algorithms, various selections of ecological processes they simulate, and the spatial and temporal scale they utilize, so that any researcher may find a model that fits one's use. However, it is important to properly understand the properties of such models so that the right model is used and the results are aptly interpreted. In this study, we describe and characterize the various Forest Landscape Models based on their historical roots, lineages, and development, ecological characteristics, and computational aspects, and discuss how they can be classified and what limits should be recognized to assist in model selection and utilization.

An Analytical Study on the behavior of the Pier considering Soil Conditions (지반 조건을 고려한 잔교의 거동에 관한 해석적 연구)

  • 최근 국내 연안역에는 관광의 활성화 등의 목적으로 잔교가 많이 가설되고 있다. 그러나 잔교의 설계에 대한 규정이 없어 현재는 항만 및 어항설계기준을 준용하여 설계하고 있는 실정이며, 또한 지역적 특성을 반영하지 못하고 건설되어 과다한 단면을 사용하는 경우가 많고, 경제성이나 경관성을 갖추지 못한 경우가 많은 실정이다. 본 연구에서는 합리적인 잔교용 설계기준을 마련하기 위한 기초적인 연구로써 지반조건을 고려한 잔교의 거동특성을 분석하고자 하였다. 이를 위하여 해석모델을 개발하고, 다양한 해석조건에 대한 해석을 수행하여 그 특성을 정리하고자 하였다. 이를 통하여 잔교의 합리적인 구조시스템을 개발하고, 설계기준을 정리하는데 이바지 하고자 한다. 이 연구에서는 서해안의 연약지반을 고려하기 위해 지반스프링을 이용한 해석모델을 개발하고, 다양한 해석조건에 대한 해석을 수행하여 그 특성을 파악하고자 하였다. 조립식 잔교는 Capbeam, Wood Deck, ㄱ형강, Pile로 네 가지의 구성으로 이루어지고, 이 네 가지 요소의 재료는 강재로 사용하였으며, 하중에 대해서는 항만 및 어항설계기준을 준용하여 군중하중 $5kN/m^2$, 월파력 $20.1kN/m^2$을 사용하였고, 풍하중은 도로교 설계기준을 이용하여 산정한 $3.309kN/m^2$을 사용하였다. 재하하중 및 하중에 대한 최적단면에 대한 연구를 활용하여 본 연구에서는 지반조건의 영향, Capbeam과 Pile의 크기변화, 사항 등의 영향을 고려하였을 때 각 구성요소에서 발생하는 단면력의 변화와 축력, 접합부 모멘트 등의 외력과 내력을 정리하여 잔교의 거동특성을 파악하고자 하였다. 다양한 변수해석을 수행하기 위하여 지반조건을 고려한 2D 해석모델을 개발하였으며, 본 연구에서 고려한 군중하중, 풍하중, 월파력의 설계하중 중에서는 월파력이 지배적인 것을 알 수 있었다. Pier의 지름이 증가 하면 작용하는 월파력이 커지고 따라서 단면력이 증가하는 것을 알 수 있었다. 그러므로 합리적인 Pier의 크기 결정이 경제적이고 경관이 우수한 잔교 건설에 중요 요인임을 알 수 있다. 본 연구는 잔교의 설계기준 정립에 기초자료로 활용할 수 있을 것으로 판단되나, 보다 합리적인 잔교의 설계와 시공을 위해서는 지속적인 연구가 필요한 것으로 판단된다.

Spatial Analysis of Landscape Structure Changes Caused by the US Conservation Reserve Program in the Central High Plains (미중부지역 농지보전 프로그램에 의한 경관구조 변화분석)

  • The U.S. Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) resulted in the conversion of approximately 14.8 million ha(36.5 million acres) of cropland to grassland, woodland, and other conservation uses throughout the U.S. between 1986 and 1992. One of the major results of CRP has been the addition of millions of hectares of potential wildlife habitat. primarily as grassland. In this study, we examined regional changes in landscape structure caused by the introduction of CRP. Utilizing multi-seasonal Landsat Thematic Mapper imagery, we produced maps of cropland and grassland for the pre- and post- CRP enrollment periods for a six-county region in southwest Kansas. We then applied post-classification differencing to identify regions of cropland that had been converted to CRP. Using the FRAGSTATS spatial pattern analysis program, we calculated a variety of spatial statistics to analyze changes in landscape structure due to CRP. The major impact of CRP in the six-county study area has been the reversal of an overall trend of grassland habitat fragmentation. From the standpoint of potential wildlife habitat, the introduction of CRP has greatly increased the number of patches, mean patch size, and the interior or core area of grassland patches. In addition, CRP has increased connectivity and aggregation between grassland patches, potentially important factors for species of conservation interest, particularly those that require larger expanses of unbroken habitat. Finally, the distance between neighboring patches of grassland has decreased, reducing travel distance between patches. Clearly, the introduction of CRP has substantially modified the spatial structure of the southwest Kansas landscape, with important implications for wildlife habitat.

A Study on the correlation between a streetscape image and a signboard density - Focused on roadside buildings occupation density of signboard in the business area - (가로경관이미지와 간판밀도와의 상관관계에 관한 연구 - 상업지역 연도건물의 간판 점유밀도를 중심으로 -)

  • The street image in a business area is so much affected by Facade that the front side of a roadside building makes. Recently, for the indiscreet and intemperate advertising signboard of the front side of roadside buildings, a streetscape becomes more disordered than before, so now we need to do research about signboards of roadside buildings for a streetscape image. In this research, we focused on a streetscape with difference of occupation density of signboard in the business area via investigation and analysis about occupation density of signboards of the front side of roadside buildings, and we suggested optimum occupation density of signboards for supporting the road image positively. An object of research is the street in the business area that has many pedestrians and active passing zone of cars. We investigated and analyzed how to feel street images on the rate of occupation density of roadside building's signboards of in the chosen street. As a result of using an adjective that we use for estimating street view images for extraction of street images, we could know 2 factors. We named that one is the image of recognition, and the other is the image of feelings. We knew that signboard density of street of heavily recognized images is from 20% to 30% and, signboard density of street of heavily feeling images is from 50% to 60%. We also could know that people feel both images of recognition and images of feeling in specific density, 30 to 50%. Through this result of research, we can suggest Facade on signboard density with the recognition and the feeling and use images of the street view as materials to be more specific and more special.

A Study on Scenic Resources in Mt. Jiri Documented in the Joseon Era Travelling Records (조선시대 지리산 유람록(遊覽錄)에 나타난 경관자원 연구)

  • Human has noticed a beautiful natural scenery and appreciated it as a scenic site by giving meaning to it and evaluating it. How the beautiful natural scenery was appreciated as a scenic site depends on natural features, social and cultural environments, and the current of the times. Mt. Jiri is the highest mountain in inland South Korea and keeps ancestors' history and culture intact. Joseon Dynasty literary men frequently mentioned Mt. Jiri as a tourist attraction where they could pursue and share their studies against its beautiful natural scenery. The countless literary men visited Mt. Jiri and some of them left their journeys as travelling records. This research aimed at apprehending travel routes of Chunwang Peak of Mt. Jiri based on the contents of travelling records and investigating the scenic site value of scenic resources as the literary men in Joseon Dynasty recognized. The scenic resources of Mt. Jiri were related to the change of the reason or motivation of person who climbed and it should be noted that there was a change of reason or motivation in climbing Mt. Jiri from a following of master's paths to discovery of a new trails. Thus, even if there was a difference in reason or purpose of natural scenic beauty, the concept of scenic sites of the past and the present day should be included into the extended meaning of scenic sites. This research aimed the routes of well-known literary men need to be developed as programs utilizing "the concept of ancient sages' footprints" and the development of these contents shall be used for vitalization and self-support of a regional economy.

A Selection of Bank Protection Method of Natural Stream by Numerical Simulation and Hydraulic Model Test in Han River Basin (한강유역 수치모의 및 수리모형실험을 통한 자연형 하천 저수호안공법 선정)

  • 현재 환경적인 면과 실용적인 면을 고려한 한강 르네상스 사업중 한강공원 특화사업을 시행하고 있다. 하지만 이러한 환경적인 면과 실용적인 면을 고려할 시 문제점이 될 수 있는 것은 결국 치수성의 문제을 생각하여야 하므로 본 연구는 한강공원 특화사업으로 인하여 발생할 수 있는 치수 문제를 사전에 예방하고자 한강공원특화사업의 RAMS모형을 이용하여 200년 빈도 유량에 대한 2차원 수치모의 및 수리모형실험을 하여 한강공원 특화사업으로 인해 발생할 수 있는 수리학적 흐름 특성 변화를 분석하여 홍수에 대한 안정성을 검토하였으며, 자연형 호안공법을 비교하여 각 권역에 맞는 호안공법을 선정하고자 하였다. 수치모의를 통한 분석결과 뚝섬권역의 수위분포는 잠실대교 하류 부근에서 0.02m 정도의 편수위가 발생하였고, 유속분포는 약2m/s~2.5m/s이며, 현단면과 계획단면 비교시 수위, 유속의 변화는 거의 없는 것으로 나타났으며, 수치모의와 수리실험결과로 인하여 수리적 안전성을 확보하고 친환경, 경제성 등의 검토로 보수가 용이하고 배수성이 양호한 사석공법과 세굴방지 효과가 우수하며, 자연경관이 뛰어난 자연석공법이 적합하다고 판단된다.

Virtual Landscape Classification Standards and Representative Spatial Types in Digital Games (디지털 게임 내 가상경관 분류 기준 확립 및 대표 유형 산출)

  • Digital games are generating various types of virtual landscape and the importance of virtual landscape has been arises. However, there has not been any research done how to design the virtual landscape. To establish virtual landscape design methodology, establishing the classification system and suggesting the representative type of virtual landscape is needed. With this research, I collected the classification standard and established five standards; story, cooperation, interaction level, dimensions and shape of the space. With that system, I classified digital game and could prove the effectiveness. Also by classifying cases through 20 years of timeline, I could come out with three representative types. This result will work as a reference to the future research; establishing design methodology on virtual landscape.

Change Detection of Land Cover Environment using Fuzzy Logic Operation : A Case Study of Anmyeon-do (퍼지논리연산을 이용한 토지피복환경 변화분석: 안면도 사례연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the land cover environmental changes in the Anmyeon-do. Especially, it centers on the changes in the land cover environment through methods of GIS and remote sensing. The land cover environmental change areas were detected from remote sensing data, and geographic data sets related to land cover environment change were built as a spatial database in GIS. Fuzzy logic was applied for data representation and integration of thematic maps. In the natural, social, and economic environment variables, the altitude, population density, and the national land use planning showed higher fuzzy membership values, respectively. After integrating all thematic maps using fuzzy logic operation, it is possible to predict the change quantitatively. In the study area, a region where land cover change will be likely to occur is the one on a plain near the shoreline. In particular, the hills of less than 5% slope and less than 15m altitude, adjacent to the ocean, were quite vulnerable to the aggravation of coastal environment on account of current, large-scale development. In conclusions, it is expected that the generalized scheme used in this study is regarded as one of effective methodologies for land cover environmental change detection from geographic data.

Distribution of Geomorphological Landscape Resources of Goryeong-gun, and Its Application Plan (고령군 지형경관자원의 분포와 활용방안)

  • The purpose of this paper is to search for geomorphological landscape resources of Goryeong-gun, to provide fundamental data for their management through mapping their distribution, and to present their conservation and application plan. The results are as follow: Firstly, geomorphological landscape resources in mountain area are Misungsan and Jusan mountain of Goryeong-up, Sangbiri valley of Deoggok-myeon, and isolated hill of Gaejin-myeon. Secondly, geomorphological landscape resources in riparian area are natural wetlands such as Jinchonneup of Bu-ri Gaejin-myeon, Hochonneup and Dalseongseupji of Hochon-ri Dasan-myeon, Bongsanneup of Bongsan-ri Ugok- myeon; artificial wetlands following the construction of weir such as riparian wetland of Oe-ri Goryeong-up and Banun-ri Gaejin-myeon; meander core and abandoned channel of Banun-ri Gaejin -myeon, river cliffs such as Naegok-ri Goryeong-up and Weolo-ri Ugok-myeon; sand bars and braided channel of Yajeong-ri Ugok-myeon. Thirdly, Jinchonneup swamp area of Bu-ri Gaejin-myeon have characteristics of typical floodplain landform, and its conservation conditions is relatively satisfactory, and its accessibility to metropolis is great, so it is a good place to construct eco-park. And construction of inquiry learning place at Banun-ri Gaejin-myeon will increase the opportunity to observe environmental changes following incised meander cutoff and ecological affirmative functions of a weir.
