Seismic Collapse Risk for Non-Ductile Reinforced Concrete Buildings According to Seismic Design Categories (비연성 철근콘크리트 건물의 내진설계범주에 따른 붕괴 위험성 평가)

  • Existing old reinforced concrete buildings could be vulnerable to earthquakes because they were constructed without satisfying seismic design and detail requirements. In current seismic design standards, the target collapse probability for a given Maximum Considered Earthquake (MCE) ground-shaking hazard is defined as 10% for ordinary buildings. This study aims to estimate the collapse probabilities of a three-story, old, reinforced concrete building designed by only considering gravity loads. Four different seismic design categories (SDC), A, B, C, and D, are considered. This study reveals that the RC building located in the SDC A region satisfies the target collapse probability. However, buildings located in SDC B, C, and D regions do not meet the target collapse probability. Since the degree of exceedance of the target probability increases with an increase in the SDC level, it is imminent to retrofit non-ductile RC buildings similar to the model building. It can be confirmed that repair and reinforcement of old reinforced concrete buildings are required.

Design for Out-of-Plane Direction of Nonstructural Masonry Walls Using Finite Element Analysis (유한요소해석을 활용한 비구조 조적벽의 면외방향 설계)

  • This study proposed a simplified finite element analysis procedure for designing the nonstructural masonry wall in the out-of-plane direction. The proposed method is a two-step elastic analysis procedure by bilinearizing the behavior of the masonry wall. The first step analysis was conducted with initial stiffness representing the behavior up to the effective-yield point, and the second step analysis was conducted with post-yield stiffness. In addition, the orthotropic material property of the masonry was considered in the FE analysis. The maximum load was estimated as the sum of the maximum loads in the first and second step analyses. The maximum load was converted into the moment coefficients and compared with those from the yield line method applied in Eurocode 6. The moment coefficients calculated through the proposed procedure showed a good match with those from the yield line method with less than 6% differences.

Two-way Shear Strength Evaluation of Transfer Slab-Column Connections Through Nonlinear FE Analysis (비선형유한요소해석을 통한 전이슬래브-기둥 접합부의 2면 전단강도 평가)

  • Recently, RC transfer slab systems have been used widely to construct high-rise wall-type apartments for securing parking space or public space. However, it is problem that the design method and structural performance evaluation method developed for thin RC flat slab are still used in the design of the transfer slab whose thickness is very thick and therefore structural behavior is expected to be different from RC flat slab. Thus, for the rational design of the transfer slab, the ultimate shear behavior of the RC transfer slab system is required to be analyzed properly. Accordingly, in the present study, the two-way shear behavior of the transfer slab was analyzed using nonlinear FEM according to various design parameters such as thickness of the transfer slab, strength of concrete, shear span ratio, and reinforcement ratio. In addition, the two-way shear strength evaluations of RC transfer slab by the existing evaluation methods were verified by comparing those with the results of nonlinear FEM analysis.

Evaluation of Spatial Distribution of Secondary Compression of Songdo Marine Clay by Probabilistic Method (확률론적 방법을 이용한 인천송도지반 이차압축침하량의 공간적 분포 평가)

  • Settlement at reclamation area caused by secondary compression should be considered using spatial evaluating method because the thickness of consolidation layer varies at every location. Probabilistic method can be implemented to evaluate uncertainty of spatial distribution of secondary compression. This study spatially evaluated mean and standard deviation of secondary compression in the overall analyzing region using spatial distribution of consolidation thickness estimated by ordinary kriging method and statistical values of soil properties. And then, the area where secondary compression exceeds a design criterion at the specific time was evaluated using probabilistic method. It was observed that the area exceeding the design criterion increased as the variability of $C_{\alpha}/(1+e_o)$ increased or the probabilistic design criterion 0: decreased. It is considered that the probabilistic method can be used for the geotechnical design of soft ground when a probabilistic design criterion is established in the specification.

  • In the construction industry, due to the nature of the job, the need for job training to maximize the performance of the job and to improve the organization's qualifications is needed to acquire professional knowledge that is practiced according to the training needs of the members of the organization. In the form of education, the government or the government or the government provides systematic and planned professional job training that is implemented to improve qualifications and instill pride in the profession by helping the employees of the design office acquire new knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary for professional performance. Although it is recommended at the organizational level, as a result of examining the implementation, it was found that most workers did not receive job training activities. Therefore, follow-up studies that can maximize work efficiency at the individual and organizational level of design office workers should be continuously performed.

  • 산업 발전과 인구의 급격한 증가에 따라 건축물은 고층화 및 인텔리젼트화 되어가면서, 화재로 인한 인적·물적 손실은 계속적으로 증가하고 있다. 따라서 과거보다 구체적이고 근본적인 대책의 마련이 필요하게 되었다. 현재의 소방시설의 설계는 사양중심(Prescriptive Based)의 체계로 되어 있다. 우리나라의 경우는 사양중심 체계로 되어있으나 외국에서의 공학적 도구와 연구를 바탕으로 하는 성능위주의 방화설계에 대한 연구가 시작되어 기존에 개발된 화재거동과 연기이동 및 피난의 소프트웨어를 이용하여 소방대상물의 열 분포, 연기이동, 피난특성, 발생열량 및 내화도 등을 분석함으로써 적합한 방화설계가 진행중이다.(중략)

  • 한국건설기술연구원 구조연구실에서는 한국전력공사 토건연구실과 공동으로 N5200기종을 이용하여 철근콘크리트로 된 건축라멘구조의 해석 및 설계를 일관작업으로 시행할 수 있는 프로그램 KARST.1을 개발하였다. 본래 OA(Office Automation)용으로 개발된 N5200 기종은 현재 많은 분야에 보급, 사용되고 있는 IBM PC호환기종 보다 그 보급대수는 적지만 국내 여러기관에서 사용되고 있으며 계속적인 기계 성능의 향상과 다양한 Utility를 제공함으로써 적용분야를 증가시킬 수 있으리라 본다. 그러나 과학기술용으로 적용하기에는 아직 불편한 점이 많아 이 기종을 사용하여 구조물해석, 설계용으로 프로그램을 개발할 때 발생된 문제점과 KARST.1의 기능 및 특징을 간단히 소개하겠다.

  • The performance measurement of construction projects has traditionally been evaluated as a prerequisite for successful project completion. Considering this importance, the UK and the US are operating quantitative performance measurement systems for construction projects. However, in the case of Korea, there is a limit to the use of existing methods due to the limitation of data collection. Recently, in consideration of the domestic situation, research is being conducted to measure the quantitative performance of a project by using big data including progress and project attribute information. Therefore, this study aims to present the design direction of a performance monitoring system using Quality Function Deployment.

  • 국내의 기계 및 설비관련 학과는 모든 산업의 기초가 되는 기계를 다루는 기술인이 반드시 알아야 할 기계관련 이론과 다양한 실기를 통해 산업현장에 필요한 전문직업인 양성에 교육 목표를 두고 있다. 또한 오늘날 첨단 기계 산업의 발달 및 다양화에 따라 생산 및 생산시설 관리, 제품 설계 및 제작, 엔지니어링 마케팅, 컴퓨터 하드웨어 및 소프트웨어 관련 업무를 충실히 담당할 중견 전문가 양성도 담당하고 있다. 기계 설비분야의 미래를 책임질 기계설비 전문인을 양성하기 위해 기계 및 설비관련 학과는 2009년 현재 전국의 13개 대학에서 다양한 커리큘럼을 통해 배출하고 있다. 본지는 지난 3월호부터 전국의 기계 및 설비관련 학과를 소개한다.
