  • The purpose of this study is to prevent obesity in the elderly and to seek differentiated intervention measures according to education level by comparing and analyzing the factors influencing obesity in single-person households according to education level. Using the data from the National Health and Nutrition Survey in 2020, cross-analysis and logistic regression analysis were conducted through data of a total of 400 respondents, and the analysis showed vulnerability in physical activities that could affect obesity if the education level was low, and risk factors such as eating out and sodium intake were high. As a result of comparative analysis of influencing factors through the classification of education levels, sedentary time was a risk factor in the low-education group, and sodium intake was a risk factor for obesity in the high-education group. Through this, it was discussed the need for healthy nutrition and physical activity education for middle-aged and elderly single-person households, and differentiated intervention according to the level of education.

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the effect of family resilience on willingness for self-sufficiency in self-sufficiency program participants and to verify the mediating effect of mental health in the relationship. The survey subjects were 283 participants from a local self-support center in Gangwon-do. As for the analysis method, descriptive statistics and difference verification were performed. Also, hierarchical regression analysis and mediating effect method were performed to verify the research model. First, as a result of the difference test, the level of self-support was higher when there was a caring family. The level of family resilience was higher in those who were in their 40s and 50s than in their 30s or less, married than unmarried, had normal or excellent health conditions than deplorable health conditions, and had a caring family. Mental health quality was higher in very healthy people rather than in people who had poor health. Also, people with no dept had a higher mental health quality. Second, as a result of analyzing the relationship of influence on self-support, the higher the age, the more caring families, the higher the level of family resilience and mental health, the higher the self-sufficiency. Third, as a result of the mediating effect analysis, mental health had a partial mediating effect between family resilience and willingness for self-sufficiency. Therefore, we discussed the implications for improving family resilience and mental health as a factor in improving the level of self-sufficiency in self-sufficiency program participants.

  • Objectives : The purpose of this study was to investigate individual- and community-level factors on suicidal ideation and suicide attempt among Korean adults. Methods : This study was conducted on 225,965 adults collected through data from the 2021 Community Health Survey and the Korean Statistical Information Service (KOSIS). The general characteristics, suicidal behavior (e.g., suicidal ideation, and suicide attempts), and community-level characteristics of the study subjects were analyzed using frequency (%) and mean (standard deviation). The effects on individual- and community-level factors on suicidal ideation and suicide attempts was analyzed using multilevel logistic regression models. Results : The community-level factor associated with suicidal ideation was unmet health care (Odds Ratio [OR]=1.053, 95% CI=1.035-1.071), and the community-level factor associated with suicide attempt was the aging rate (OR=1.015, 95% CI=1.001-1.030). Regarding health-related variables, the individual-level factors associated with suicidal ideation were stress status (OR=9.388, 95% CI=8.629-10.213), depressive experience in the past year (OR=6.737, 95% CI=6.454-7.032), and the predominantly individual-level factors associated with suicide attempt were also stress status (OR=5.213, 95% CI=3.699-7.347), and depressive experience in the last one year (OR=13.433, 95% CI: 11.247-16.044). Conclusions : We confirmed individual-level and community-level factors influencing suicidal ideation and suicide attempt. Through these findings, we need to establish suicide prevention policies, considering managing individual-level factors such as stress and depression as well as community-level factors such as unmet health care.
