The Effects of Subjective Oral Health Status and Health Practice Behavior on Oral Health-Related Self-Efficacy in Adults (성인의 주관적 구강 건강 상태와 건강 실천행위가 구강 건강 관련 자기효능감에 미치는 영향)

  • In order to investigate the effects of subjective oral health status and health practice behavior on oral health-related self-efficacy in adults, a survey was conducted in adults living in Busan and analyzed using the SPSS 21.0 program. The better the subjective oral health status, brushing-related self-efficacy and oral health management self-efficacy were significantly higher. The better the health practice behavior, brushing-related self-efficacy and oral health management self-efficacy were significantly higher. The better the subjective oral health status, the more positively it affected oral health-related self-efficacy. The implementation of health practice behavior in order of exercise, health responsibility implementation, and smoking showed a positive effect on oral health-related self-efficacy. Therefore, we hope that the results of this study are used as fundamental data for development of continued oral health programs converging systemic and oral health and contribute to the promotion of comprehensive and oral health in adults.

The Study of Home Environment Stimulation Of Preschool Children, Parenting Self-Efficacy and Family Health of the Mothers (취학전 유아의 가정환경자극 및 양육효능감과 가족건강성과의 관계)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate relationships between home environment stimulation, and parenting self-efficacy and family health. Participants consisted of 569 mothers and their children living Incheon and Buchon Province. Home Environment Stimulation Scale, Parenting Self-Efficacy, and Family Health questionnaire were administered to the mothers. Descriptive statistics, t-test, F-test, correlation analysis, and regression were used for data analysis. Analysis of variance revealed statistically significant differences in the family healths according to mothers' employment, income, Mothers' education level predicts Mothers' parenting self-efficacy, home environment stimulation and family health.

Health Behavior in the Aged and Related Variables (노인건강행위와 관련요인간의 관계)

  • This study was conducted to find the relation among perceived health status, self-esteem, self-efficacy, and social support related with the health behavior in the aged, and to ascertain the factors which affect the health behavior in the aged. For this study, 271 old men and women were surveyed from June to July, 2008, who lived in Daejeon and Chungnam province, and were 65 years old and over. As a result, it was surveyed that the old having their religious beliefs were good in health behavior, and the old who had a spouse and a high level of education were good in health status. And also, old women had a higher self-efficacy than old men, and the old who had a high level of education had a higher self-efficacy than those who didn't. Among the subjects of this study, there was a significant correlation between the health behavior in the aged and perceived health status, self-esteem, and self efficacy, and one between perceived health status and self-esteem, and self efficacy. And also, there was a significant correlation between self-esteem and self efficacy. Self-esteem was confirmed as the important variable which affected the health behavior of the aged. The limitations, implications of this study and future tasks for the old were discussed.

The Effects of Family Function, Health Perception, and Self-efficacy on Health Promoting Behaviors of Nursing College Students (간호대학생의 가족기능, 건강지각, 자기효능감이 건강증진행위에 미치는 영향)

  • This is a descriptive research study aimed to investigate the relationship between health promoting behaviors, and some factors such as family function, health perception, and self - efficacy of nursing college students and identify the factors affecting health promoting behaviors. Results showed that family function, health perception, and self - efficacy were correlated with health promoting behaviors. Regression analysis showed that family function, health perception, and self - efficacy seemed to explain 37.7% of health promoting behaviors. Thus, as family function, health perception, and self-efficacy are important factors that affect health promoting behaviors of nursing college students, it is necessary to develop a health education program considering family function, health perception, and self-efficacy to promote desirable health promoting behaviors. In the follow-up study, it is necessary to expand the study subjects and the results of such studies should be applied to the development of programs aimed at promoting the health of nursing college students, and further studies should be conducted to verify the effectiveness of those programs.

Intervention Effect on Health Efficacy and Knowledge in Cardiovascular Health Promotion Behaviors in Children (초등학생 대상의 건강 효능감과 지식을 중심으로 한 심혈관 건강증진 중재 효과)

  • Objectives: This study was conducted to identify the intervention effects on health efficacy and health knowledge related to health behaviors for improving cardiovascular health in elementary school children. Methods: A repeated measure, pre-post-test design was used to identify the intervention effect on health efficacy and health knowledge among 5th grade school children. Intervention consisted of a curriculum classroom intervention and parent intervention. Health efficacy, health knowledge, and perceived parental monitoring were measured for testing intervention effect. A sample of 219 participants completed a baseline pre-test and two tests during intervention and after intervention from March to July 2004. Results: Mental health efficacy improved significantly from baseline test to the test after intervention (F = 32.88, p < 0.0001). Physical health efficacy also significantly increased during intervention (F = 50.51, p < 0.0001), but did not significantly change after parent intervention. Health knowledge increased significantly from baseline test to the test after education (F =10.23, p < 0.0001), but decreased after parent intervention. Perceived parental monitoring had a significant impact on mental health efficacy and physical health efficacy. Conclusion: The findings support school-based cardiovascular health promotion intervention as effective in improving health efficacy and health knowledge. Parental influence should also be considered to maintain improved health efficacy and health knowledge by thinking process in the intervention for elementary school children.

The Effect of Nurse's Grit, Health Perception on Health Promotion Behaviors: The Mediating effect of Self-efficiency (간호사의 그릿, 건강지각이 건강증진행위에 미치는 영향: 자기효능감의 매개효과)

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the mediating effect of self-efficiency on the relationship between grit, health perception and health promotion behaviors of nurses and to provide baseline data to improve health promotion. A structured questionnaire survey was carried on 242 nurses at an university hospital in D-city. The strong and positive effects of grit, self-efficiency and health perception on health promotion behaviors were found. Self-effica -cy had a perfect mediating effection the effects of grit on health promotion behavior and a partial mediating effect on the effects of health perception on health promotion behavior. The study results suggest the need for various intervention programs based on multiple factors associated with grit, health perception and self-efficiency in order to enhance health promotion behaviors of nurses.

Relationship of Oral Health Behavior to Self-Efficacy among the Elderly (노인의 구강보건행동과 자기효능감의 관련성)

  • The purpose of this study is to identify general, physical, and social self-efficacy according to oral health behavior among the elderly and examine the factors affecting them. For this purpose, a survey was conducted in 500 persons aged 60 years or older residing in Daegu and North Gyeongsang Province from June 1 to August 30, 2013. With the exception of 73 questionnaires that were not completed or contained insincere responses, 427 copies (recovery rate: 85.4%) were analyzed, thus obtaining the following results: 1) In terms of the respondents' socio-demographic characteristics, those who were younger, who were more highly educated, who were married, and who got a larger amount of monthly pocket money showed higher general, physical, and social self-efficacy, with statistically significant differences (p<0.001). 2) The group with good oral health behavior showed higher general and social self-efficacy and that with an average level of oral health behavior showed higher physical self-efficacy, with significant differences (p<0.001). 3) The factor most influential on oral health behavior was general self-efficacy (${\beta}=0.184$), followed by social self-efficacy (${\beta}=0.162$), physical self-efficacy (${\beta}=0.101$).

A Convergence Study on the Relationships between Self-Efficacy and Health Behavior in eldery women with chronic low back pain (만성 요통을 가진 여성 노인의 자기 효능감과 건강행위간의 관계에 대한 융합연구)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to examine the relationships between self efficacy and health behavior of elderly woman with chronic low back pain. Methods: A descriptive correlational design was used and the participants were 130 eldery women patients with chronic low back pain from one general hospital in 2012. The structured questionnaire included Perceived Self Efficacy Scale, Health Behavior Assessment tool of the Korean Elders. Data analysis included t-test, ANOVA and Pearson's correlation. Results: The mean scores were $67.34{\pm}18.32$ for self efficacy, $99.70{\pm}14.46$ for health behavior. There were significant correlations between self efficacy and health behavior(r=.80). Conclusion: The findings suggest that elderly woman with chronic low back pain need nursing interventions to improve health behaviors by promoting self efficacy.

The Effect of Mental Health, Self-efficacy, and Happiness on Suicidal Ideation (일지역주민의 정신건강, 자기효능감, 행복감이 자살생각에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was done to explore the relationship among mental health, self efficacy, happiness, suicidal ideation and related factors. Data collection from May 1, 2015 August 31 were enrolled in U-city. The questionnaire was filled out by 467 citizen in cities of Ulsan. Mental health was negatively correlated with self efficacy and was positively correlated with suicidal ideation. Self efficacy was positively correlated with happiness and negatively correlated with suicidal ideation. Also, happiness was negatively correlated with suicidal ideation of elementary student. Among the general characteristics, factors affecting suicidal ideation was marietal status, preferred mental health, and happiness significantly accounted for 43.3% of the variance for suicidal ideation. The most significant factor influencing suicidal ideation was mental health.

Relationships between Cognitive Function and Self Efficacy, Health Behavior of the Elderly Participation to Physical Activity (신체활동 참여 노인의 인지기능과 자기효능감, 건강행위와의 관계)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationships between cognitive function and self efficacy, health behavior of the elderly participation to physical activity. Data were collected from November 2015 to January 2016. The study subjects were 61, aged 65 years or older, to visit health town. The questionnaire was composed general characteristics and K-MoCA, self-efficacy scale, self-efficacy for exercise tools, Korea's elderly health behavior. The results of the study were as follows: As for cognitive function and exercise self-efficacy by general characteristics, there were differences in that regard according to gender, education, marital status, dependents form, duration of the program(p <.05), the general self-efficacy showed differences in gender, age, education, economic status, duration of the program(p <.05), and the health behavior showed differences in gender, education, marital status, dependents form, activity program, duration of the program(p <.05). There was a significant correlation between cognitive function and exercise self-efficacy, health behavior(p <.01). General self-efficacy was correlated with exercise self-efficacy, health behavior. And exercise self-efficacy was correlated with health behavior(p <.01). Exercise self-efficacy were the factor affecting the cognitive function(p <.01). Therefore, the activity program development for the practice and sustainable participation in physical activity in the elderly is believed to be made.
