  • This study aimed to identify the association between each stage of Community periodontal index of treatment needs (CPITN) and oral health behaviors. Multivariate logistic regression analysis was performed on the data obtained from 11,002 adults aged between 19 and 79 years, using data from the 7th Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey. When interdental care products such as floss or interdental brush were used, the risk of CPITN1 to CPITN3 and periodontitis was significantly reduced. Brushing more than 3 times a day significantly reduced the risk for CPITN1 and CPITN2, and dental check-ups reduced the risk for CPITN1, CPITN2, and periodontitis. There were differences in related factors depending on the stage of CPITN and periodontitis. Therefore, it is essential to include training on the use of interdental care products in oral health education. In addition, it will be helpful educate subjects on select oral health behaviors based on their periodontal status.

  • The unprecedented pandemic caused by the COVID-19 has led to a massive global public health campaign to slow the spread of the virus. Thus, this study examines the importance of individual's prevention behavior intention by adapting health belief model(HBM). In addition, we added social variables to understand the prevention behavior better considering the situation in which collective behaviors are important. The online survey results(N=298) showed that higher level of perceived severity, perceived susceptibility, perceived benefits, perceived peril, perceived social norms and lower level of perceived responsibility led to higher prevention behavior intention. Peril was the most influential factor among all the variables. In addition, perceived severity and social norms followed after that. Additional analysis also implied that socio-HBM model we proposed better explained the prevention behavior intention than traditional HBM.

  • This study was conducted to analyze the differences in negative health behavior, mental health, and self-esteem between tattooed and non-tattooed college students. The subjects of this study were 214 four-year college students located in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do. For data analysis, descriptive statistics, factor analysis, Cronbach's α, crossover analysis, and t-test were conducted using the 25.0 version of the SPSS statistical package. As a result of the study, there was no significant difference in negative health behavior, mental health, and self-esteem between the two groups according to the presence of tattoos. Therefore, it can be said that it has a meaning as a positive aspect of research contrary to previous studies that report negative properties of tattoo. This study is expected to be used as basic data in establishing tattoo culture suitable for the times by reflecting and activating tattoos as a cultural phenomenon in the future.

  • This study was to investigate the effects of workers' attitudes to internet health information(AIHI), e-health literacy(eHL) on internet health information seeking behavior(IHISB) and health-related behavioral intention(HBI). 152 workers conducted the structured questionnaires from May to July 2017. Data analyzed by t-test, ANOVA, and multiple regression analysis. Factors affecting IHISB were identified to be eHL (${\beta}=.33$, p<.011), and perceived usefulness for internet health information(PU)(${\beta}=.28$, p=.002), and factors affecting HBI were identified to be PU(${\beta}=.33$, p=.001), information utilization(IU)(${\beta}=.24$, p=.003), and eHL(${\beta}=.18$, p=.002). As above results, considering the eHL of workers, it is necessary to build an internet health information system and develop education program that increase IU.

  • The purpose of this study is to contribute to evidence-based nursing care for patients with chronic conditions by understanding the attributes of the health motivation concept for their health-related behaviors. Fourteen academic journals and research papers on the health-related motivation of chronically ill patients were selected according to the conceptual analysis stages of Walker and Avant, and the concept was analyzed through additional literature review. The following three factors were extracted as the attributes of health motivation of chronically ill patients: first, psychological needs for healthy behavior; second, the multidimensional state considering personal characteristics; and third, emotional strengths that can change and induce behavioral changes.
