Taxonomic Study on Polynoid Polychaetes in Korea (한국산 비늘갯지렁이류의 분류 II. 예쁜이비늘갯지렁이 아과)

  • Some scale worms collected in Korean coastal waters from 1981 to 1984 were identified with 9 species belonging to subfamily Lepidonotinae. Among them, 4 species (Lepidonotus tenuisetosu, Halosydnopsis pilose, Perolepis stylolepis and Lepidasthenia maculata) are new to Korea. Therefore, all of the lepidonotoid species in Korea are 12 species representing 7 genera. A key to the Korean species of lepidonotoid Polynoidae is provided.

New Record of Iphione muricata (Savigny, 1818) (Polychaeta : Polynoidae) in Korea (한국미기록 뽀족고운비늘갯지렁이 Iphione muricata (Savigny, 1818))

  • A polynoid polychaete, Iphione muricata (Savigny, 1818), is newly recorded in Korean fauna. Genus Iphione was found for the first time in Korean waters. The specimen was collected in the Phyllospadix japonica bed by SCUBA diving. The species is described with figures and the key to subfamily was revised, Including this Iphione muricata, a total of 24 species representing 14 genera are known to the Korean polynoid polychaetes.

Effect of the Polychaete Antimicrobial Peptide as feed Additives on Olive Flounder and Black Rockfish Immune Activity (넙치 및 조피볼락 면역 활성에 대한 사료첨가제로서 갯지렁이 항균펩타이드의 효과)

  • In this study, the effect of the polychaete antimicrobial peptide as feed additives on fish, olive flounder (Paralichythys olivaceus) and black rockfish (Sebastes schlegelii), immune activity was described. The antimicrobial peptide of the polychaete was induced by peptidoglycan from Micrococcus luteus. The fish were fed an experimental diet supplemented with 0%, 0.05%, 0.1%, 0.5% or 1% of immune induced the polychaete to a commercial diet. Haematological parameters, nonspecific immunes and stress were evaluated 2, 4, 6 and 8 weeks during fed. The resistance against bacteria, Edwardsiella tarda and Streptococcus iniae, were analysed on after 8 weeks. The haematological parameters were not significantly changed among tested groups. But the lysozyme activities were significantly high in the 0.1% and 0.5% supplement group of olive flounder and black rockfish, respectively. Additionally, cortisol in plasma was low in the 0.1% and 0.5% supplement group of olive flounder and black rockfish, respectively. And resistance of these supplement groups were significantly induced against bacterial injection.

  • 1983년 2월부터 1985년 4월까지 광양만에서 채집된 갯지렁이류 연성저질에 서식하는 부채발갯지렁이류를 조사한 결과 1 신종, Anaitides roreana, n. sp.와 미기록종 A. chinensis를 포하하여 무두 4 종의 부채발갯지렁이를 얻었기에 보고한다. 이들 중 미기록된 종의 우리말 이름은 각각 한국부채발갯지렁이(A.chinensis)와 중국부채발 갯지렁이 A. chinensis 로 명명 기재한다.

  • Some scale worms collected in korean coastal waters from 1981 to 1984 were identified with 7 species belonging to subfamily Harmothoinae. AMong them, 4 species( Gattyana deludens, Eunoe senta, Harmothoe hirsuta , Lagisca waahli) are new to Korea. Therefore, all of the harmothoid species in Korea are 11 species representing 6 genera. Classificatory key is made on the morphological characters of harmothoids and their ecological distributions and remakrs are shown.

  • A maldanid polychaete, Axiothella quadrimaculata Augener, 1914, is newly recorded in Korean fauna. Genus Axiothella is found for the first time in Korean waters. The specimen was collected in the Eisenia bicyclis bed by SCUBA diving. The species is described with figures and the key to genera was revised. Including this Axiothella quadrimaculata, a total of 18 species representing 13 genera are known to the Korean Maldanid polychaetes.

  • Taxonomical evaluation of P. nuntia var. vallata and P. nuntia var. brevicirris Grube was checked. On the basis of the number of paragnaths and its arrangement pattern it is suggested that these two varieties are no longer valid, and they are synonym of Perinereis nuntia(Savigny, 1818).

  • Hemicyclops ctenidis sp. n. is descdbed based on the specimens washed from Neanthes laponica collected from Kangreung, South Korea. The new species can be distinguished from its 24 congeners by a combination of features in the segmentation of the first antenna, the structure of the inner sets of the first endopod segment in legs 1-4, and the armature of the second endopod segment in leg 4.
