  • 전통적 R&D 협업시스템은 불특정 사람들이 하나 이상의 프로젝트에서 독립적으로 일을 하는 협업 시스템으로 인터넷 기반의 소셜 소프트웨어(Social Software)나 위키(Wiki)와 같은 협업 툴을 통해 이루어진다. 하지만 협업적 작업을 위한 방법이 다양하고 외부에 많은 부분을 의존함으로써 프로젝트 참여자의 혼란이 가중된다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 이러한 문제점과 개방형 혁신(Open Innovation)을 위한 개방형 R&D 협업시스템을 설계하고 커뮤니티 도구와 시맨틱 전문가 검색 시스템 개발을 통해 R&D 협업시스템을 구현하여 시범 서비스를 수행한 사례를 제시한다. 개방형 R&D 협업 시스템은 개방형 혁신의 개념을 기반으로 사용자의 아이디어 수집을 위한 채널과 사용자의 행동 예측 및 정보 매칭 기술 등을 제공한다. 본 논문에서 제시하고 있는 R&D 협업시스템을 사용할 경우 미래 전 산업 연구 개발 분야에 큰 도움을 줄 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.

Analysis of the Success Factors of Open Innovation fromthe Perspective of Cooperative Game Theory: Focusing on the Case of Collaboration Between Korean Large Company 'G' and Startup 'S' (협조적 게임이론 관점에서 본 대기업-스타트업 개방형 혁신 성공 요인 분석: 대기업 'G사'와 스타트업 'S사'의 협업 사례를 중심으로)

  • Based on the case of collaboration between large companies and startups, this study suggests the importance of establishing mutual cooperation and trust relationships for the success of open innovation strategy from the perspective of cooperative game theory. It also provides implications for how this can be implemented. Due to information asymmetry and differences in organizational culture and decision-making structures between large companies and startups, collaboration is likely to proceed in the form of non-cooperative games among players in general open innovation, leading to the paradox of open innovation, which lowers the degree of innovation. Accordingly, this study conducted a case study on collaboration between large company 'G' and startup 'S' based on the research question "How did we successfully promote open innovation through cooperative game-type collaboration?" The study found that successful open innovation requires (1) setting clear collaboration goals to solve the organizational problem between large companies and startups, (2) supporting human resources for qualitative growth of startups to solve reliability problems, (3) leading to strategic investment and joint promotion of new projects to solve the profit distribution problem. This study is significant in that it contributes to expanding the discussion of the success factors of open innovation to the importance of interaction and strategic judgment considering the organizational culture and decision-making structure among players, and empirically confirming the success conditions of open innovation from the perspective of cooperative game theory.

  • 최근 사용자의 취향에 맞는 콘텐츠를 필터링하여 자동으로 추천하는 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 참여형, 개방형, 공유형 서비스들의 증가와 함께 웹 3.0 시대에는 더욱 지능화되고 개인화된 서비스가 중요시되고, 이를 위한 맞춤형 정보 제공 연구가 필수적이다. 본 논문에서는 사용자 맞춤형 추천 방법의 대표적인 기술인 협업 필터링(Collaborative Filtering) 방안 분석에 대해 설명하고, 협업 필터링 방법의 적용 연구를 설명한다.

  • 개방형 혁신에 대한 관심이 고조되고 인터넷을 통한 공동작업이 활발해짐에 따라, 가상의 작업공간을 지원하는 시스템의 필요성이 증대되고 있다. 특히, R&D 분야에서는 연구원이 보유한 전문기술들을 묶어서 집단지성으로 이끌어 내어 창의와 협업을 지원하는 R&D 협업시스템의 개발이 요구된다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 이식성이 높고 다양한 R&D 협업 환경에 능동적으로 대처할 수 있는 확장성과 안정성을 구현한 R&D 협업시스템을 소개한다. 향후에도 R&D 및 ICT 환경변화에 따른 지속적인 보완 개발을 통하여 R&D분야에 적용할 경우 미래 전 산업 연구 개발 분야에 큰 도움을 줄 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

  • The growth rates of manufacturer M, the domestic market leader in the infant formula and dairy industry, has slowed because of the market reduction which is caused by the falling birth rates, the increasing growth in import of foreign~made infant formula and fierce competition with other rivals in domestic market. In this situation, they find a way to make new opportunities of service innovation by using 'Open Collaboration Innovation Methodology(OCIM)'. As s result, they can provide their customers with the differentiated service which is created by collaborating with the external partners, exchanging the value each other and connecting the accumulated internal capabilities to the external resources. This study focused on the application of the Open Collaboration Innovation Methodology which is used to the manufacturer M's servicitization. Also it is described in the direction of forth study based on the limits that occurred when the M company use the methodology and the matters that have to be considered when other companies apply the methodology.

  • Research information services such as ScienceON, RISS, and DBpia used by researchers during the R&D process mainly consist of a user interface in the form of a portal and search functions that respond to demands. However, the importance of open collaboration that freely shares and utilizes the research process and results and provides various tools and services necessary for collaborative research is gradually increasing, so there are also limitations to these service roles. Thus, we design WithON, which provides collaborative research environments of a preemptive response method, focusing on a personalized user interface to support the entire R&D cycle. We expect WithON would fundamentally change the existing research information services into collaborative research-centric ones.

  • 본 연구는 기존 포털형 정보 서비스의 한계를 극복하고자, 이전 연구에서 제안된 연구자의 R&D 프로세스 과정에서의 협업을 지원하는 개방형 협업 지원 서비스 플랫폼을 기반으로 하여, 본 연구에서는 R&D 프로세스 중 '사전 단계'에 대한 설계와 구현을 소개한다. 우리는 R&D 프로세스를 문헌 리뷰와 연구 가설 설정 등을 수행하는 '사전 단계,' 실험과 데이터 분석 등을 수행하는 '실행 단계', 논문 작성 및 출판 등을 수행하는 '성과화 단계'로 구분하고, 이 중 '사전 단계'에 대해 프로젝트 뷰, 그룹 뷰, 문헌 뷰, 관계 뷰를 설계하고 구현하였다. 연구자는 이 플랫폼을 통해 문헌 내용 및 문헌 간 복잡한 연관성을 신속하게 파악할 수 있으며, 플랫폼은 연구자에 의해 자연스럽게 생성되는 사용자 정의 관계를 통해 향후 심층적인 문헌 네트워크 구축 및 분석이 가능해질 것으로 기대한다.

Open Collaboration Innovation Methodology (OCIM) : A Methodology for New Service Development (개방형 협업을 통한 서비스 혁신 방법론)

  • While new service development has become one of the most popular topics among practitioners and academics, methodologies development for new service development is only in its infancy. Especially, despite the growing interests in open innovations that effectively utilize external resources for R&D, existing research on new service development methodology designed to use external resources is scant. This article proposes a new methodology to generate new service business models that utilize massive external resources in combination with internal resources using ICT. The "Open Collaboration Innovation Methodology (OCIM)" is built based upon the theory of open innovation model and social psychology theories on behavioral motivation for cooperation. The model begins with the procedures to identify external resources that meet service objectives and requirements, and suggests motivation, control and monitoring mechanisms to implement a new service model. A business case is followed to demonstrate the use of the model. We expect that this model can be practically used by companies that are planning for developing new business models, and will provide a better understanding on open collaboration models, collective intelligence and crowd sourcing models.

Identifying the Network Characteristics of Contributors That Affect Performance in Open Collaboration : Focusing on the GitHub Open Source (개방형협업 참여자 기여도와 네트워크 특성과의 관계에 대한 연구 : 깃허브 오픈소스 프로젝트를 중심으로)

  • Information and communications technology facilitates collaboration among individuals by functioning as an open platform for open collaboration projects. In this regard, this study aims to understand the network characteristics of participants who contribute greatly to open collaboration by investigating the mutual cooperation network in an open source project, which represents a form of open collaboration based on social network theory. To achieve this objective, this study analyzes the network centrality of developers with a high number of commits, particularly 8,101 developers in 782 repositories in GitHub, a representative open source platform. This study also determines how the relationship between network centrality and number of commits depends on the size of a repository network and the presence of a hub. Consequently, the number of commits by developers with high degree, betweenness, and closeness centrality is increasing. Among which, betweenness centrality has the highest explanatory power. Furthermore, when a hub is present and as network size increases, the relationship between the betweenness centrality of a developer and his/her number of commits continues to grow. This study is expected to provide suggestions for the successful performance of open collaboration projects in the future.

An Analysis of Structural Relationship between Technological Innovation Capability, Collaboration and New Product Development Performance in Small & Mid-sized Venture Companies (중소벤처기업의 기술혁신역량, 협업, 신제품개발성과 간의 구조적 관계 분석)

  • This study is intended to determine that there is a casual relationship between technological innovation capability and new product development performance in small and mid-sized venture companies, and that the introduction of collaboration as a means to step up technological innovation capability will improve new product development performance. To achieve this, a survey was carried out to employees who are engaged in R&D work for small and mid-sized venture companies based in Korea, and the results were analyzed by regression analysis. The findings showed that technology strategy, technology learning and open innovation belonging to technological innovation capability in small and mid-sized venture companies had an effect on new product development performance. In other words, the selection of collaboration as a wider array of core strategies on new product development performance showed that collaboration was a strategy affecting new product development performance. In addition, the moderating role of technological innovation capability in boosting new product development performance through the introduction of collaboration showed that common collaboration had a positive effect on stepping up technology strategy, and collaboration as a core strategy had a positive effect on the size of new product development performance by strengthening technology strategy and open innovation.
