The purposes of this study were to survey the elementary students' conceptions of electric circuits and of electric currents, and to explore the relationships between them. The questionaire were developed into matched forms which corresponds to each conceptions of electric circuits and electric currents. The elementary students were selected from 4th and 5th grade in a elementary school in a large local city, which of the total numbers of students were 163. The student who have well-developed conception in electric circuits are superior in conceptions of electric currents to other student who have not in each items of questionnaire required to draw a simple basic electric circuits for lightening the bulb, to select the basic elements of circuits, to identify the arrangement of batteries and bulbs. So we concluded that the scientific conceptions of electric circuits could contribute to the scientific conceptions of electric currents, as expected in elementary science textbooks.
In the process of finding the triangle height, 26 students in the 6th grade were surveyed to understand the students' triangle height through the eye movement data and to investigate the cognitive load of the students. As a result, the correctness rate of the pre-test was significantly increased in the post-test, and the frequency and retention of gaze data were smaller in the post-test than in the AOI of each question. The Participants's subjective cognitive load indicated that it was more difficult to understand the concept of rotated triangles compared with upright triangles that were parallel to the ground. More frequent and more retentions in the eye-tracking data were detected in the right triangles and acute triangles by rotating configuration. Eye movement data show that eye tracking technology can provide an objective measure of students' cognitive load for feedback on instructional design.
This study was to develop the Medication Adherence Scale in Elderly (MAS-E) with chronic disease and verify its reliability and validity. The MAS-E was developed in 5 steps: Configuration of conceptual frame by content analysis, preliminary items, pilot study, reliability and validity test, and development of final MAS-E with chronic disease. The questionnaires were collected from 345 adults with one-to-one interviews. Verification of its reliability and validity was divided into two phases. Reliability was tested using Cronbach's alpha, split-halves reliability, and test-retest. For validity tests, item analysis, factor analysis, total score-factor score correlation analysis, and criterion related validity were used. The developed scale consisted of 18 items and 4 factors - remember of taking medication (2 items), expectations for drug effects (5 items), practice taking medication according to instructions (8 items), communicating with health professionals (3 items), and explained 69.7% of total variance. The scale had significantly positive correlation (r = .72, p <.001) with the Morisky Medication Adherence Scale (MMAS-8). Cronbach's alpha was .91, Guttman split half coefficient was .80, and test-retest reliability was .912. Finding suggest that the MAS-E is a suitable scale to assess the status of medication adherence in elderly with chronic disease.
This study investigated pre-service elementary teachers' understanding of the basic concepts of and their attitudes toward astronomy in Korea and Japan. The survey instrument called the Astronomy Diagnostic lest (ADT) that was developed by the Collaboration for Astronomy Education Research (CAER) in 1998 was used and modified to tailor to the two countries' contexts, including 12 items written in the two languages, Korean and Japanese. The attitudes toward astronomy were examined by the Survey of Attitudes toward Astronomy (SATA), which was developed by Zeilik et al. in 1999. Cronbach's alpha of this sample of the study was 0.69, while the reliability of SATA was 0.87. All the pre-service elementary teachers in both Korea and Japan showed a low-level understanding of the basic concepts of astronomy. 38% of Korean pre-service elementary teachers had correct answers to the questions regarding the basic conceptions of astronomy, while 37% of Japanese participants had correct answers to them. Although there was no statistically significant difference between Korean and Japanese pre-service elementary teachers, Korean teachers scored higher than Japanese participants in SATA. A significant difference, however, was revealed in the categories of cognitive competence and value of the attitudes toward astronomy (p <.05). In addition, it was found that both Korean and Japanese pre-service elementary teachers scored less than 40% about the basic concepts of astronomy and that they obtained lower scores than the US college students with regard to the attitudes toward astronomy.

The purpose of this study is to develop and validate the Korean Job Crafting Scale. First, previous studies on the concept and measurement of job crafting were reviewed, and items were developed based on this review. The content validity of the scale was examined using a focus group interview consisting of 10 HRM professionals. Following modification of the items, the measurements were administered to 305 employees from 8 Korean firms, and exploratory factor analysis was conducted in order to examine the factorial validity of the scale. Subsequently, confirmatory factor analysis was implemented concerning data collected from 295 employees who work in 7 Korean firms. Results indicated that the measurement model sufficiently explained the data at an appropriate level, and the subscales featured convergent and discriminant validity. If the scale developed in this study is validated in further studies, it can be employed to conduct research regarding job crafting in Korean organizations.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of the delayed resolution of cognitive conflict on middle school students' conceptual change in learning the concept of the action and reaction with cognitive conflict strategy. The subjects were divided into 3 groups according to the time in which teacher tried to resolve cognitive conflict: instant resolution group, 2-day delay resolution group, and 7-day delay resolution group. Pretest, just before test, posttest, and delayed posttest were examined to measure the degree of conceptual change. Delay resolution groups' students answered the questionnaire asking what they had done to resolve cognitive conflict during the period which had been delayed resolution of cognitive conflict. The results of this study were as follows. First, instant resolution group showed significantly more scientific conceptual change than delay resolution groups. Secondly, most of delay resolution groups' students who tried to resolve cognitive conflict interacted with their peers. Also, delayed resolution of cognitive conflict was not helpful to resolve cognitive conflict. Thirdly, in delay resolution groups, we found the tendency that students who spent more than 30 minutes trying to resolve cognitive conflict altered their preconceptions into scientific concepts more easily than the others did. According to the results of this study, instant resolution of cognitive conflict is more effective on scientific conceptual change than delayed resolution of cognitive conflict.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the correlation between concepts on chemical reaction rates and concepts on chemical equilibrium in high school students. The subjects of the investigation consisted of 120 third grade students attending high school in K city of Kyunggi province. For this study, questionnaire relevant to the subject of chemical reaction rates and chemical equilibrium was developed and the answers were analyzed. As a result of the study, a large percentage of high school students answered questions on reaction rates correctly, but only a small percentage of the students could give explanations. Many high school students answered questions on the rates of forward reactions correctly, but not the questions on the rates of reverse reactions. For the concepts on chemical equilibrium, many high school students gave correct answers when faced with equilibrium questions that only required the understanding of one side of the reaction. But the students could not answer the questions requiring understanding of both forward and reverse reactions as well. Overall, there was a little high correlation between concepts on chemical reaction rates and concepts on chemical equilibrium in high school students. Especially, high school students with little understanding of reverse reaction rates did not understand that chemical equilibrium is a dynamic equilibrium. Also, high school students with little understanding of the collision mechanism regarding chemical reaction rates did not understand the effect of concentration and catalyst factors on chemical equilibrium. And the correlation between concepts on chemical reaction rates and concepts on chemical equilibrium related to concentration and catalyst factors was low. In conclusion, the formation of scientific concepts on chemical reactions rates can decrease misconceptions on chemical equilibrium. Also the teaching-learning method limited to one side of a reaction can cause difficulty in forming the concepts on chemical dynamic equilibrium. Therefore, the development of a teaching-learning method which covers both the forward and reverse reactions can be effective in helping students form the concepts on chemical equilibrium.
The purpose of this paper is to discover effective teaching and learning methods for improving low level mathematic matriculants', who passed the early decision program, problem solving abilities by analyzing their error patterns in the special lecture for basic mathematics in P University. In this paper, we examine the matriculants' understanding and errors on the fundamental concepts of function, and continuity and differentiability of function based on the pre-examination. We also measure the their academic achievement in the special lecture for basic mathematics, and analyze the differences of error patterns between pre-test and post-test result on the concepts of continuity and differentiability of function.
This study verified the reliability and validity of the Korean version of the Student Career Construct Inventory(K-SCCI) that was translated into Korean language from the Student Career Construct Inventory (SCCI) developed by Savickas et al.(2018). To achieve this, this study conducted item content analysis, exploratory factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, and criterion-related validity in 530 university students. As a result of item content analysis and exploratory factor analysis, it was found that 4 factor models and 18 items were the most appropriate in K-SCCI. The 4 factors were named as crystallizing a vocational self-concept, exploring to gather information about occupations, deciding to commit to an occupational choic, and preparing to implement that choice. As a result of confirmatory factor analysis to verify the goodness-of-fit of the 4 factor models, it appeared to be appropriate. As a result of analyzing the correlation with related measures to verify the criterion-related validity of measures, it was found that student career construct was negatively correlated with employment anxiety but positively correlated with career adaptability.
The purpose of this study was to compare 10th grade students' understanding of concepts about the plates' motions depending on the different spatial ability. Based on previous studies and literature reviews, two instruments were selected and used in this study. The Spatial Perception Test developed in Korean Testing Center was applied to measure students' spatial ability. Another instrument for testing students' understandings of plates' motions consists of a total of 10 items. The instruments were distributed to 118 students who were 10th graders in metropolitan city. The results are as follows: First, a correlation coefficient between conceptual understanding of plates' motions and spatial ability was r=0.439 (p<.01). It indicates that conceptual plates' motions and spatial ability have a moderate relationship. The students were divided into two groups (high and low) by spatial ability. The independent t-test was performed and reveals that the statistically significant difference between high and low groups. On the other hand, the 6 students (3 higher spatial ability students and 3 lowers) were selected and interviewed individually to find the differences in their understanding of the concept of plates' motions. The findings from interviews indicate that most students recognized about concepts of trench and ocean ridge, a rise and drop of the mantle, and divergent and convergent boundaries. However, students had misconceptions about section of trench and ocean ridge. In addition, the students who had higher spatial ability knew the more proper concepts about the creation and extinction of plate, crustal movements, and bottom of the ocean extension, whereas the students who had the lower spatial ability had misconceptions.
