Prestressing Effect of LNG Storage Tank with 2,400 MPa High-Strength Strands (2,400 MPa급 고강도 강연선이 적용된 LNG 저장탱크의 프리스트레싱 효과)

  • High-strength strands have been increasingly applied to recent actual structures in Korea. Structural effect of the increased spacing of sheaths was investigated in this study when the usual 1,860 MPa strands of an LNG storage tank are replaced with 2,400 MPa high-strength strands. First, finite element models of a cylindrical wall of an LNG tank were established and prestressing effect of the circumferential and vertical tendons was considered as equivalent loads. As a result of varying the tendon spacing and prestressing force with the total prestressing effect kept the same, the stress distribution required in design was obtained with the high-strength strands. Also, a full-scale specimen that corresponds to a part of an LNG tank wall was fabricated with 31 high-strength strands with 15.2 mm diameter inserted in each of two sheaths. It was observed that such a high level of prestressing force can be properly transferred to concrete. Moreover, an LNG tank with the world's largest 270,000 kl capacity was modeled and the prestressing effect of high-strength strands was compared with that of normal strands. The watertightness specifications such as residual compressive stress and residual compression zone were also ensured in case of leakage accident. The results of this study can be effectively used when the 2,400 MPa high-strength strands are applied to actual LNG tanks.

  • 비구면 유리렌즈는 고성능, 고신뢰성과 더불어 기존 렌즈들의 한계였던 수차 및 선명도를 개선하고 고온고습에 강한 장점을 갖고 있다. 디지털카메라, 폰카메라, 정보저장기기, 스캐너, 프로젝터 등 고성능 고신뢰성을 요구하는 동시에 소형화 추세가 급속히 진행되는 디지털 이미징 시스템의 핵심부품으로 사용되고 있으며 다양한 응용분야에 활용될 전망이다. 본 고는 지난 3월 13일 창원컨벤션센터에서 (주)대호테크 주최로 열린 경남지역산업 중점기술개발사업 워크숍에서 초청강연을 한 재영솔루텍(주) 김동식 상무(나노광학사업부장)의 강연 내용을 요약 정리한 것으로 글로 기술하는 과정에서 다소 매끄럽지 못한 내용이 있을 수 있음을 밝혀둔다.

Visual Texture Image and Preference of Men's suit Fabrics (남성 수트소재의 시각적 질감 이미지와 선호도)

  • The purpose of this study was to clarify the effects of constituent characteristics and the mechanical properties by KES-FB system on the visual texture images and preference of men's suit fabrics. Twenty different kinds of black fabrics, which were used mainly for the spring and summer men's suits, were selected and the subjective evaluation of the visual texture images was tested. Sixty experts in department of clothing and apparel industries participated in the subjective evaluation. Factor analysis showed visual texture images were classified into 4 categories : 'bulkiness', $'extensibility{\cdot}rapability'$, 'flexibility' and 'smoothness'. All of relationships were established between the mechanical properties and the visual texture images except the relation between 'flexibility' and bending properties. The significant factors affecting preference were 'smoothness', compression energy(WC), fabric count and 'flexibility', As the fabrics had higher value for 'smoothness' and 'flexibility' , and lower ones for compression energy and fabric count, they tended to be more preferred.

The Load Transfer Performance of Post-tension Anchorage with 2,400 MPa Strands (2,400 MPa 강연선용 포스트텐션 정착구의 하중전달성능)

  • Strands with ultimate strength of 2,400 MPa was developed and applied in the KCI Code and the KS standard. A high-strength prestressed strand to be applied to a structure, a suitable anchorage system should be used together. Recently, a post tension anchorage for 2,400 MPa strands was developed. but there is not much research on performance evaluation. Therefore, in this study, structural analysis of local zone with 9 strands, 15 strands, and 19 strands anchorage were investigated respectively, which are most widely used for post tensioning anchorages with 2,400 MPa strands, according to PTI anchorage zone design method, and Load transfer performance from ETAG013 and/or KCI-PS101 was evaluated. Furthermore, the adequacy of the test was also analyzed by nonlinear numerical analysis. As results, the anchorages with 2,400 MPa strands satisfied the structural performance of the local area and satisfied the load transfer performance condition.

Applicability estimation for cable assembling method of shield tunnel using field test construction (현장 조립 시험시공을 통한 쉴드터널 강연선 체결 기술의 적용성 평가)

  • In this study, the new segment assembling method using cable tensible force was developed to improve the problem of bolt assembling method of shield tunnel. In the field test construction, cable assembling method reduced the assembling time of segment in comparison with bolt assembling method because of guide role of segment shear-key. In the result of measuring the necessary time for segment assembling process, it took 420sec to assemble one segment in bolt method and 400sec to assemble one segment in cable method, but in case of using the cable automatic feeder, it could reduce the necessary time as 60sec in comparison with bolt assembling method. The cable automatic system modeling using BIM, that connected shield TBM also will be utilized in the area of design TBM, excavation plan, method process understanding, construction management and so on.

Parameter Analysis for Design of Pretension Girder Bridge for Urban Maglev Transit (도시형 자기부상열차 프리텐션 거더교의 설계변수 분석)

  • Parameter analysis of a pretension girder bridge for urban maglev transit was performed to identify the main design parameters and their effect. Girder deflection at mid-span is the most important design criteria of urban maglev transit. Therefore, concrete compressive strength, girder height, girder length, and unbonded tendon length were selected as the design parameters that relate to girder deflection. In addition, tendon layout and unbonded tendon ratios were also considered as design parameters to control the top stress of the pretension girder section at the support. The analysis results show that both the girder height and length are dominant design parameters governing girder deflection, more important than compressive strength and unbounded tendon length. And, sensitivity analysis makes this study suggest design weight value. In terms of stress, a tendon layout that can satisfy the unbounded tendon rule requires an additional tendon or rebar at the upper section to control the tensile stress on top of the section. Therefore, to improve feasibility and constructability in the future, an enhanced unbonded tendon rule considering the load characteristics of the urban maglev system should be studied.

  • 존 켈리 회장은 7월 12일 경주시 힐튼호텔에서 열린 '원자력 안전 및 해체산업 육성 국제 포럼'에 참석하여 'Perspectives on the Future of Nuclear Power in the United States'를 주제로 특별강연을 했다. 켈리 회장은 강연을 통해 미 행정부의 원자력정책, 미국 원자력산업의 단기 도전 과제, 전력 생산에서의 이산화탄소 감축과 원전 역할, 원전의 지속적인 운영, 미국에서 진행되는 신형 원자로 설계 등을 피력했다. 켈리 회장은 이날 언론과의 인터뷰에서 "한국은 원자력산업 강국인데, 원전 안전성에 대한 과학적인 근거보다 정치적 이슈로 신규 원전을 짓지 않고 수명 연장 대신 조기 폐쇄를 결정한 것은 우려할 사안"이라고 말하고 "원전산업 축소는 장기적으로 기업의 전력 확보가 어려워져 경제적 타격을 입는다. 특히 한국은 원전을 수출하면서 탈원전정책을 펴면 수출에 지장을 받지 않을까 걱정된다."고 밝혔다. 켈리 회장은 MIT 원자력공학박사로 미국 에너지부(DOE) 원자력에너지 기술책임자를 지냈다. 본고는 발표 내용을 정리한 것이다.

  • 이 글은 Royal Dutch Shell 그룹의 회장이면서 Shell Transport & Trading사의 사장직도 겸하고 있는 P. H. Baxendell씨가 지난 연초에 영국 에딘버러시의 엘리오트와트 대학에서 강연한 내용을 옮긴 것이다. Baxendell회장은 이 강연을 통하여 석유산업이 직면한 세가지 도전(기술적도전, 상업적도전, 사회적도전)을 상술하면서 특히 사회적 도전이 갖은 의미를 강조하고 있다. 특히 석유기업에 대한 일반인들이 갖고 있는 허구성은 기업 스스로가 바로 잡기 위해 노력하여야 하며, 정부나 사회와 건설적인 관계를 구축하여야 한다고 역설한 부분은 우리가 처한 상황에도 시사하는 바가 크다고 할 수 있다.<편집자주>

Nonlinear Analysis of Anchor Head for High Strength Steel Strand (고강도 강연선용 앵커헤드의 형상변화에 따른 비선형 거동특성 분석)

  • This study covers the nonlinear analysis of anchor head for high strength prestressing strand and presents necessary process in improving the performance of anchor head. The surface of wedge for strand is contacted to the surface of the wedge hole on anchor head when it is fitted into the wedge hole, and the contact condition changes according to the level of load applied through the wedge. In order to analyze detailed behavior, nonlinear material model and contact element were used in analysis. It was found from the analysis that the behavior of anchor head is affected by the interaction with the wedge contacted so that the wedge in FE model should have the same figure as the actual object. Circular array of wedge hole presents better stress distribution than layer array even though the small difference in maximum deformation. Increment of thickness of anchor head and distance of wedge hole also improve the performance of anchor head.

A Study on Measurement of Prestressing Force in PSC Girder using Electrical Resistance Strand Meter (전기저항식 스트랜드미터를 이용한 PSC거더 강연선의 긴장력 측정에 관한 연구)

  • The use of strand wire in structure has been increased by the recent development of construction technologies. Until now, in spite of difficult problems in measuring strand stresses within PSC girders, indirect estimation with a load cell or accelerometer has been often used. In this paper, the electrical resistance strand meter for effective measurement of strand stresses is proposed with experiments considering material, location and thickness of sensor. The reliability and feasibility of the strand meter is enhanced through the experiment with 29.9m PSC girder.
