이 연구의 목적은 첫째, 계속 확대되어가고 있는 미국 TV 홈쇼퍼에 대한 인구통계학적인 특성과 그들의 구매행동을 조사하여 TV 홈쇼핑에 대한 이해의 폭을 넓히고 쇼핑이용자의 만족도를 증진시킬 수 있는 방안을 모색하는 데 있다. 둘째, TV shopping channel 에의 많은 노출은 TV 홈쇼핑의 유통 특성상 강박구매를 야기 시킬 경향이 높은 데 과연 TV shopping channel 노출과 강박구매와 관련이 있는 지, 그리고 TV 홈쇼퍼중 어느 정도의 강박구매자가 존재하는 지 조사하는 데 있다. 미국 전지역 51주에 걸쳐 회수된 설문지 결과, 일반적 마케팅 타겟에서 소외시되온 소비자집단, 예를 들면, 중년이나 노인 여성들, 몸이 비대한 여성들, 장애인등과 같은 다양한 집단들이 TV 홈쇼핑을 그들의 주요 쇼핑형태로 이용하였고, 특히, 대다수의 TV 홈쇼퍼들은 의류를 구매한 경험이 있었다. 또한, TV shopping media에 노출이 강박구매행동과 유의한 관련이 있는 것으로 나타났는데, 특히 이 연구의 TV 홈쇼퍼중 일반인에 비해 약 2배가량의 강박구매자가 있는 것으로 밝혀졌다. 이 연구 결과를 토대로 사회지향적 마케팅전략이 논의되어진다.
The purpose of this study was to examine factors affecting addictive buying behavior. Two hundred seventy-six female college students who have purchased fashion products through TV home shopping were surveyed. For data analysis, descriptive statistics, Pearson's correlations, multiple regression were used. As the results, higher addictive buying scores were correlated to higher purchasing experience during childhood, family problem, parent's compulsive buying tendency, and friendship. Based on these results, fashion marketing strategies would be suggested. Multiple regression analysis revealed that parent's compulsive buying tendency and friendship were significantly to related to addictive buying. Based on these results, fashion marketing regarding television home shopping would be suggested.

The purpose of this study was to examine factors affecting compulsive buying behavior purchasing behavior. Four hundred female college students who have purchased fashion products via Internet shopping or TV home shopping were surveyed. For data analysis, descriptive statistics, factor analysis, t-test, and multiple regression analysis were used. As the results, 16.3% of respondents were revealed as compulsive buyers. For materialism instrument, four factors of materialism were found and labeled as 'material'. 'consumption', 'happiness', and 'economic value' factors. Also, two factors of entertainment pursuit were also identified as 'change' and 'adventure' pursuit. There were statistically significant differences between compulsive buyers and non-compulsive buyers in terms of materialism, success, and change pursuit, self-esteem, compensation, impulsive purchasing, and binge eating. Compulsive consumption scores were correlated to higher materialism, compensatory, impulsive purchasing, binge eating, shifting, entertainment pursuit, and lower self-esteem. Also, results of multiple regression revealed that compensatory, binge eating, and happiness pursuit were significantly to related to compulsive buying.
The purpose of this study was to investigate TV home shoppers' compulsive buying, focused on shopping orientation and marketing promotion variables. Four hundred one female home shoppers who have purchased fashion products through TV home shopping. For data analysis, descriptive statistics, factor analysis, t-test, and Cronbach's Alpha were used in this study. The results were as follows: First, approximately 17% of respondents were revealed as compulsive buyers. Second, for shopping orientation instrument, three factors of shopping orientation were found and labeled as 'indifferent', 'hedonic', and 'economic' factors. Third, compared to non-compulsive buyers, compulsive buyers had higher hedonic scores. Finally, compulsive buyers considered marketing promotion variables such as show host, scarcity sales, gift events as important factors for their purchasing than non-compulsive buyers. Based on these results, it would provide TV home shopping marketers efficient and social responsible marketing strategies.
The purpose of this study was to examine family factors affecting compulsive buying behavior. Three hundred fifty-five female college students who had purchased fashion products through Internet shopping or TV home shopping participated in this study. For data analysis, descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, t-test, multiple regression, and reliability test. As the results, approximately 18% of respondents were revealed as compulsive buyers. Compulsive consumption scores were correlated to higher previous childhood consumption experience, family matters, parents' compulsive consumption tendency, and reference group. Also, results of multiple regression revealed that previous childhood consumption experience, parents' compulsive consumption tendency, and reference group were significantly related to compulsive buying, Finally, there were significantly differences between compulsive buyers and non-compulsive buyers on previous childhood consumption experiences, parents' compulsive consumption tendency, and reference group. Based on these results, this study would provide significant implications to academic scholars, consumer policy decision makers, and marketers.
Retailers deploy new shopping value-additions to induce customers to shop more, thus driving compulsive buying tendencies, which lead to increased profits for them. Customers display their ambivalence in purchasing a product either through instantaneous consumption, such as when following the latest fashion trends, or methodical decision making. The aim of this study is to investigate the influence of consumers' ambivalent attitudes toward various aspects (brand, store, price, trends, and product types) of clothing shopping on compulsive behavior tendencies. Compulsive buying tendencies were analyzed in terms of the shopping value group and demographic characteristics. For the empirical research, a questionnaire was used. Data from male and female clothing shoppers were analyzed. Consumers were segmented into ambivalent consumption group, emotional value consumption group, rationality consumption group, and indifference consumption group. Results indicate that ambivalent consumption groups showed significantly higher levels of compulsive behavior tendencies in terms of brand, store, price, trends, and product types than other groups. Females showed more compulsive buying tendencies than males. Single people showed more compulsive buying tendencies than married.
Recently as the economic circumstances have been getting worse, livelihood crimes like shoplifting have occurred considerably frequently. Shoplifting is the stealing behavior occurred in the retail shop such as department store, discount store, supermarket. Though there is economic and social risk of shoplifting, academic research of shoplifting has implemented scarcely. This study analyzes the shoplifting behavior in the retail store and its influencing factors, and aims to provide background of academic research of this field. So this study will give practical implication to reduce or prevent shoplifting behavior. As a result of this study, friend relationship and compulsive buying disposition influence the attitude of shoplifting behavior. But economic motive, stimulus pursuit disposition, and experience motive do not influence the attitude of shoplifting behavior. Finally to reduce or prevent shoplifting behavior, this study suggests the implications of this study and further research agenda.
The purpose of this study is to analyze some related factors affecting consumer values and compulsive buying and to investigate the relationship between consumer value types and compulsive buying behavior. Data were collected from 481 college students at Seoul and Ulsan in Korea and at Nagasaki in Japan. The results indicated that consumer value types were differentiated by the age and the region(Ulsan, Seoul, and Nagasaki) and compulsive buying was differentiated by the region. Among the 8 sub-dimensions of consumer values, the college students in Ulsan showed a relatively high level of humanism familism and authoritarianism while those in Seoul showed a relatively high level of materialism and futurism The college students in Nagasaki showed a relatively high level of hedonism For the compulsive buying behavior, the college students in Seoul have the highest level, Nagasaki the middle level, and Ulsan the lowest level of compulsive buying. And four types of consumer values are identified: 'Satisfied-in-Present'; 'Pursuing-Power- Oriented-Value'; 'Pursuing-Current-Satisfaction', and 'Pursing-Future'. It was found that college student in Seoul, Usa and Nagasaki were classified into different types. The college students in Seoul were classified to , Usu in , and Nagasaki to . For the relationship between four types of consumer values and compulsive buying, showed the highest level, and the middle level, and the lowest level of compulsive buying.
