Evaluation of the Minimum Shear Reinforcement Ratio of Reinforced Concrete Members (철근콘크리트 부재의 최소전단보강근비의 평가)

  • The current Korean Concrete Design Code(KCI Code) requires the minimum and maximum content of shear s in order to prevent brittle and noneconomic design. However, the required content of the steel reinforcement In KCI Code is quite different to those of the other design codes such as fib-code, Canadian Code, and Japanese Code. Furthermore, since the evaluation equations of the minimum and maximum shear reinforcement for the current KCI Code were based on the experimental results, the equations can not be used for the RC members beyond the experimental application limits. The concrete tensile strength, shear stress, crack inclination, strain perpendicular to the crack, and shear span ratio are strongly related to the lower and upper limits of shear reinforcement. In this research, an evaluation equation for the minimum content of shear reinforcement is theoretical proposed from the Wavier's three principals of the mechanics of materials.

L-THIA Modification and SCE-UA Application for Spatial Analysis of Nonpoit Source Pollution at Gumho River Basin (환경부 토지피복 중분류 적용을 위한 L-THIA 모델 수정과 SCE-UA연계적용에 의한 금호강유역 비점오염 분포파악)

  • Long-Term Hydrologic Impact Assessment (L-THIA) was modified to improve runoff and pollutant load prediction for Korean watersheds with changes in land use classification and event mean concentration produced from observed data in Korea. The L-THIA model was linked with SCE-UA, which is one of the global optimization techniques, to automatically calibrate direct runoff. Modified L-THIA model was applied to Gumho River Basins to analyze spatial distribution of nonpoint source pollution. The results of model calibration during 1991~2000 and validation during 1981~1990 for direct runoff represented high model efficiency of 0.76 for calibration and 0.86 for validation. As a results of spatial analysis of nonpoint source pollution, the BOD was mainly loaded from urban area but SS, TN, and TP from agricultural area which is mainly located along the stream. Modified L-THIA model improve its accuracy with minimum imput data and application efforts. From this study, we can find out the L-THIA model is very useful tool to predict direct runoff and pollutant loads from the watershed and spatial analysis of nonpoint source pollution.

Development of Tongue Diagnosis System Using ASM and SVM (ASM과 SVM을 이용한 설진 시스템 개발)

  • In this study, we propose a tongue diagnosis system which detects the tongue from face image and divides the tongue area into six areas, and finally generates tongue fur ratio of each area. To detect the tongue area from face image, we use ASM as one of the active shape models. Detected tongue area is divided into six areas and the distribution of tongue coating of six areas is examined by SVM. For SVM, we use a 3-dimensional vector calculated by PCA from a 12-dimensional vector consisting of RGB, HSV, Lab, and Luv. As a result, we stably detected the tongue area using ASM. Furthermore, we recognized that PCA and SVM helped to raise the ratio of tongue coating detection.

Study on the Retreatment Techniques for NOAA Sea Surface Temperature Imagery (NOAA 수온영상 재처리 기법에 관한 연구)

  • We described for the production of cloud-free satellite sea surface temperature(SST) data around Northeast Asian using NOAA AVHRR(Advanced Very High Resolution Radiometer) SST data during 1990-2005. As a result of Markov model, it was found that the value of Markov coefficient in the strong current region such as Kuroshio region showed smaller than that in the weak current. The variations of average SST and regional difference of seasonal day-to-day SST in spring and fall were larger than those in summer and winter. In particular, the distribution of the regional difference appeared large in the vicinity of continental in spring and fall. The difference of seasonal day-to-day SST was also small in Kuroshio region and southern part of East Sea due to the heat advection by warm currents.

  • Stability analysis based on the limit equilibrium method combined with the result of infiltration analysis is commonly used to evaluate the effect of rainfall infiltration on the slope stability. Soil is a three-phase mixture composed of solid particle, water and air. Therefore, a fully coupled mixture theories of stress-deformation behavior and the flow of water and air should be used to accurately analyze the process of rainfall infiltration through soil slope. The purpose of this study is to study the effect of interaction of air and water flow on the mechanical stability of slope. In this study, stability analyses based on the coupled hydro-mechanical model of three-phases were conducted for slope of weathered granite soil widespread in Korea. During the process of hydro-mechanical analysis strength reduction technique was applied to evaluate the effect of rainfall infiltration on the slope stability. The results showed an increase of air pressure during infiltration because rain water continuously displaced the air in the unsaturated zone. Such water-air interaction in the pore space of soil affects the stress-deformation behavior of slope. Therefore, the results from the three-phase model showed different behavior from the solid-water model that ignores the transport effect of air in the pores.

Numerical Studies on the Variation of Flow Structure Due to Sea Surface Temperature at the Lee Side of Jeju Island in the Korean Peninsula (해수면 온도변화에 따른 제주도 후면 흐름구조 변화에 관한 수치연구)

  • Numerical studies on the influence of interaction between atmosphere and ocean on the variation of Karman vortex at the lee side of Jeju Island were carried out. Karman vortex tends to be occurred at limited height associated with Hanla mountain. And we can find clear Karman vortex at 900 hPa height in this study. One big vortex cell occurred at lee side of Jeju Island in the begging stage of its development and the cell was divided into three small cells as time goes by. And the strength and lifetime of small vortexes depend on the distribution of SST (Sea Surface Temperature). Weak gradient of SST makes long-lasting Karman vortex but produces weak potential vorticity at lee side of Jeju-do in comparison with the vortex under strong SST gradient. Strong SST gradient also increases not only the mixing depth but also the mixing ratio at lower level of troposphere. And the increased atmospheric mixing decreases the mechanical forcing due to isolated topography. Then the strength of Karman vortex at the lee side of Jeju Island becomes weak under strong gradient of SST. Thus the evolution of Karman vortex is closely related to distribution of SST around the isolated island.

  • Welding deformation is a permanent deformation that is caused in structures by welding heat. Welding distortion is the primary cause of reduced productivity, due to welded structural strength degradation, low dimensional accuracy, and appearance. As a result, research and numerous experiments are being carried out to control welding deformation. The aim of this study is to analyze the mechanism of longitudinal bending deformation due to welding. Welding experiments and numerical analyses were performed for this study. The welding experiments were performed on 4 mm and 8.5 mm thickness steel plates, and the numerical analysis was conducted on the welding deformation using the FE software MSC.marc.

Development of Pressure Sensitive Paint(PSP) technique for low-speed flows and its application (아음속 저속 유동용 Pressure Sensitive Paint의 개발과 응용)

  • The PSP technique has been used to measure pressure distribution on model surfaces ins high-speed flows. The objective of this study is to develop a PSP technique which can be applied to low-speed aerodynamic flows. Four different PSP formulations including two porphyrins (PtOEP and PtTFPP) and two polymers (Poly(TMSP) and RTV-118) were tested and the performance of each combination was evaluated. In a static calibration, the luminescent intensity of the PSP coatings was measured from 0kPa to 11kPa with 0.5, 1, 2kPa increments. Among 4 PSP formulations tested, the combination of PtOEP and RTV-118 shows the best performance. The developed PSP technique was applied to an oblique impinging jet to measure the pressure field distribution on the impinging plate.

Evaluation of e-learning in the anatomical education : The correlation between utilization frequency, satisfaction and academic achievement (해부학 가상강의에 따른 가상강의실 활용도, 만족도, 학업성취도 간의 상관관계)

  • 본 연구에서는 2007-2009년에 간호학과 및 스포츠과학부 해부학 강의에 있어 가상강의를 실시하였고 이에 따른 학생들의 가상강의 컨텐츠의 만족도와 가상강의실 활용빈도에 따른 학업성취도와의 상관관계를 분석하였다. 2007-2009학년도 1학기 해부학 강의를 가상강의 방식으로 수강한 2개 학과 231명을 대상으로 강의 종료 후 가상강의실 게시판 및 컨텐츠 활용 빈도, 개별 설문조사, 학기말 성적을 확보하여 상호간의 상관관계를 분석하였다. 각 학과별 일반 특성을 보기 위하여 연속 변수의 경우 평균과 표준오차를, 범주형 변수의 경우 그 분포 퍼센트를 이용하여 제시하였다. 학과별로 모든 학생들의 총점을 3분위수로 구분하여 낮음, 중간, 높음으로 분류하였으며, 조사된 모든 변수들의 일반 선형성을 GLM 모델을 이용하여 검증하였다. 사후 검증은 최소자승법을 이용하여 실시하였으며, 이를 이용하여 각각의 세부 집단별 점수 차이에 대한 유의성을 평가하였다. 관련 항목들 간 상관성 분석을 위하여 스피어만 상관계수를 이용하여 p 값 0.05를 기준으로 유의성 검증을 실시하였다. 모든 통계분석은 SAS 9.12 버전을 이용하여 분석하였다. 설문 대상자들은 학과와 해부학 성적에 상관없이 가상강의 전반에 대해 높은 만족도를 가졌다. 해부학 성적이 좋을수록 가상강의실 접속횟수가 유의하게 높았다. 아울러 해부학 성적이 좋을수록 난이도가 낮고 흥미도는 높게 나타났다. 또한 평가 요인들 간의 상관관계를 분석한 결과, 가상강의의 만족도는 흥미도와 전공과의 연계성과 밀접한 관련이 있었다. 가상강의 게시판을 통한 과제물 관리, 질의응답에 대한 적절성에 대해서는 성적에 따라 일부 유의한 차이가 나타났으나 높은 만족도를 나타내었다. 결론적으로 건강 및 의료 전공자들을 위한 해부학 강의에 있어 가상강의의 도입과 적용은 성공적이었으며, 이는 해부학 전공 교수진이 매우 부족한 현실에서 해부학 강의의 질적 저하를 막고 효율적인 교육을 위한 대안이 될 것으로 판단된다. 단, 해부학 가상강의 컨텐츠의 개선, 자료 보강 및 가상강의의 접근성 확보는 시급히 개선해야할 과제로 남아 있다.

  • This experimental study was performed to investigate internal flow and unsteady flow characteristics using a model for actual shape of a plate heat exchanger and visualization of flow through the particle image velocimetry. Seven Reynolds numbers were selected by calculation with the height of grooved channel and sectional mean velocity of inlet flow in the experiment, and instantaneous velocity distributions and flow characteristics were experimently investigated. The triangular grooved channel had a compound flow consisting of the flow in lower channel and the groove flow receiving shear stress by the channel flow in the experiment. The sheared mixing layer, in the boundary between the triangular groove and the channel, affected main flow to raise turbulent in the channel.
