Soil problems and agricultural water management of the reclaimed land in Korea were reviewed through research results conducted in RDA and ADC. According to the Korean Soil Classification and Soil Survey(NIAST, 2002), the 5 soil orders with the 45 soil series were distributed on the fluvio-marine or marine deposit of the west and south coastal plains. Yeompo, Munpo, Hasa, Gwangwhal, and Poseung soil series were most commonly distributed soil on the fluvio-marine deposits, associated with tideland of the sea coast. Former 4 soils were Entisols, and the latest one was the Inceptisols. Buyong soil associated with Poseung series was an Alfisols. Extent of Myeongji soil, a Molisols, and Yongho soil, a Histosol, were minor. Salinity control and management problems were closely related with high water table and low percolation rate due to plow-pan layer developed during the leaching process in the silty textured soil. For evaluation of field salinity, use of an electromagnetic inductance, EM38, with GPS was helpful to understand salinity status and field variability. Deep plowing, subsoiling and drainage improvement by tile drainage might be effective in paddy with plow-pan. New technology such as variable rate fertilization might save fertilizers and thus reduce environmental impact of agriculture on water quality. Water quality of agricultural water resources in reclaimed land was less adequate than that of inland water resources. Proper crop management is necessary depended upon quality for crop growth as well as to match with water quality target.

Currently, the global climate change response paradigm has been changed to a universal response system in which all nations, not the developed countries, participate. Korea has also set a target of 25.9 million tons of transportation greenhouse gas reduction targets by 2030. Korean society is expected to enter the super aging society in 2026. In this study, to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions in public transport and to improve the convenience of transportation vulnerable, we estimate the willingness to pay(WTP) and social benefits assuming that the existing feeder buses are replaced with medium-sized low floor electric buses. To this end, survey was conducted on bus users in the metropolitan area and WTP was estimated by using contingent valuation method(CVM), which is one of the non-market value evaluation methods. As a result of estimation of WTP, the average WTP is 51.4 (won / time person), estimated the economic benefits were 50 million won on weekdays and 40 million won on weekends in Gyeonggi Province in 2014.

Data obtained from the Calpuff inverse modeling estimate the emission amount of pollutants, and enable to establish the aim for reduction through the comparison of various cases. This study pursued to accumulate the fundamental data by the Calpuff inverse modeling for five areas in the vicinity of Donghae harbor, which focused on reduction of atmospheric fine dust. As a result of evaluation of the allowed emission amount for local sites, site-D required the most reduction, $4.95{\mu}g/m^2{\cdot}S$, based on the atmospheric guideline, $50{\mu}g/m^3$. The theoretical mitigation could decrease the average concentration of PM10 to $42.6{\mu}g/m^3$ for the study field (Donghae waste water treatment plant). Modeling only for site-A emission showed the potential concentration around the residential area of Donghae harbor, $40{\sim}50{\mu}g/m^3$. However, it will rise over $50{\mu}g/m^3$ with the addition of background level. Therefore no more emission would be allowed. Site-B including commercial area and unpaved field required the reduction of $0.11{\mu}g/m^2{\cdot}S$ due to vehicles and fugitive dust. Site-C and E did not emit additional pollutants.
After Fukushima incident, negative sentiment towards nuclear power has led to transition in policies that reduce the dependency on nuclear power in some countries. President Moon of Republic of Korea also announced a national plan of decommissioning retired nuclear power plants stage by stage. Therefore, nuclear power that once was considered the critical solution to energy security and climate change is now a limited option. This study aims to find an optimal energy mix in Korea's electricity system from 2016 through 2030 to combat climate change through energy transition with minimum cost. The study is divided into two different scenarios; energy transition and nuclear sustenance, to compare the total costs of the systems. Both scenarios show that electricity generated by wind technology increases from 2018 whereas that of photovoltaic(PV) increases from 2021. However, the total cost of the energy transition scenario was USD 4.7 billion more expensive than the nuclear sustenance scenario.
Regarding climate change, the most significant challenge the world faces is achieving the goal of stabilizing the global concentration of greenhouse gases. However, this cannot be accomplished by greenhouse gas reduction efforts of developed countries alone. In this context, a "sectoral approach" has been brought up as a way to overcome the limit of the Kyoto Protocol and induce the participation of developing countries. This paper focuses on the different types of sectoral approaches that have been suggested so far, and their criteria, scope and effectiveness. It therefore explores the potential each approach has as a policy alternative under the post-2012 scheme. On top of that, with the possibility of these sectoral approaches becoming strong future policy alternatives in mind, this paper also analyzes their applicability to the Korean industry. For the steel, petrochemical and oil industries - in which energy efficiency exceeds the world average- a technology-based approach is proposed as an alternative. For the cement, paper and power generation industries - in which energy efficiency is about the same as the global average - a sectoral crediting mechanism or an index-based approach or a sector-wide transnational approach are proposed as alternatives. Lastly, this paper suggests a future research direction for their adoption and implementation.
This study aims to introduce greenhouse gas emission trading in Korea as a highly cost-effective mechanism for controlling emissions. The Basic Act on Low-Carbon Green Growth will cover methods of emissions allocation, national inventory, and trading systems (i.e. emissions trading platforms, national registry, and clearing and settlement platforms). The Korean emission scheme will be based on the Korean Climate Change Act proposed by the National Assembly and Government with a cap-and-trade scheme. The national allowances will be allocated by the hybrid system. To establish the national inventory, TRADEMARKS (Telemetering System) and emissions factors are effective for greenhouse gas emissions measurement. It will likewise be effective for the national registry to be implemented via a Korean Integrated Registry, the emissions trading platform via the KRX (Korean Exchange), and the clearing and settlement platform via the KSD (Korean Securities Depository). In other words, the KRX will manage product development and marketing for Korean Carbon Financial Instruments (including commodities, futures, and options contracts) listed and admitted to trading on the KRX. All emissions trades will be standardized and cleared by the KSD.
Closing the book for the recent accounting period and issuing financial statements is one of the most common challenges for companies. This study examines a case of an automated financial close process and discusses issues related to its implementation. First, the study introduces the closing process of a case company including the purpose, improvement plan, and designing process. Second, the study discusses the impacts of the newly adopted system. Specifically, it reveals that under the new plan, close process automation has been maximized. It also shows that raw data validation has been improved so that past data errors can be categorized by their types and removed before the closing process begins. The order of the process has also been redefined saving closing time. Third and finally, difficulties and considerations for successful use of the system have been discussed. This study aims to provide useful information to companies which consider implementing more organized closing systems. We expect that this study will be helpful to small and medium enterprises which suffer from delayed closing but have little experience with automated BPM system.

Green IT, composed term with Green and Information Technology(IT), use IT for energy savings and carbon emission reductions. Green IT went beyond the scope of greening IT, and recently it's concept is expanded as far as counterplan of climate change including greening other industries by IT. 85% of total greenhouse gas emissions from the energy sector and 20% of them comes from transport parts, so it is time to research IT for automotive industry. In this paper, we take up the knowledge based fuzzy logic to provide life cycle analysis associated with greenhouse gas emissions for industry produced warranty claims frequently such as automobile industry. We propose a analysis method of warranty claims using expert knowledge about the warranty in car exhaust systems related to greenhouse gas emissions, past test results of malfunction, analysis of past field data, and warranty data. Furthermore, we propose life knowledge-based GWS (Greenery Warranty System). We demonstrate the applicability of IT in eco-friendly automotive industry by implementing knowledge-based fuzzy logic and applying.

Cement industries are considered key industries for reducing carbon emissions, and efforts are off the ground to reduce the use of cement in the concrete sector. As a part of this effort, research is off the ground to utilize a large amount of industrial by-products that can be used as a substitute for a part of cement. Concrete using industrial by-products has advantages such as durability, environment friendliness and economical efficiency, but there are problems such as retarding and early-age strength deterioration. Therefore, this study aimed to reduce the use of cement and solve the problem of early-age strength deterioration while using fly ash, which is an industrial by-product. Accordingly, it was confirmed that the strength was improved at all ages irrespective of curing temperature by accelerating the hydration reaction by using high fineness cement. Subsequently, high fineness cement was partially replaced with fly ash and the strength development characteristics were examined. As a result, it was possible to exhibit strength equal to or higher than ordinary portland cement even at the early age. Also, it was confirmed that even when the fly ash is replaced by 30%, it is possible to shorten the time for dismantling the forms of vertical and horizontal members.
