  • This study analyzed the induced effects of the aggregate and stone sectors using the industry association table. First, the added value of the aggregate and stone sectors was summarized, and then the intermediate input structure and induced effect were analyzed. In terms of value-added structure, aggregate and stone showed a higher employee remuneration rate compared to the manufacturing industry, and a higher rate of operating surplus compared to other mining industries. The intermediate input structure summarizes the sector using aggregate and stone products as intermediate inputs and their input ratio. The proportion of the intermediate element input structure was confirmed. In addition, the main input sectors of ready-mixed concrete, the largest consumer of aggregate and stone, are also summarized. The production-inducing effect of aggregate and stone showed a higher influence coefficient than the sensitivity coefficient, confirming that they had a relatively large rear chain effect. The production inducement effect was reviewed by reconstructing the industry association table, and it was found to show a relative superiority in the influence coefficient, similar to the results derived according to the provisional classification of the Bank of Korea.

  • The film industry is a high value-added industry, boosts the self-esteem of the people as a measure of a country's culture industry, and is one of the strategic industries to be fostered. However, the film industry is struggling due to the lack of national consensus on the importance and value of the film industry. Therefore, in order to resolve this issue, the study used the film Input-Output Table of year 2009 of korea to analyze how much the film industry contributes to the national economy. The results shows that film industry induce 82,838.7 billion won of national production, especially the film industry(the sector of film product & distribution and film screenings) shows that production inducement coefficient is 2.324(2.240, 2.478), Index of the power of dispersion is 1.163(1.121, 1.240), index of the sensitivity of dispersion is 0.825(0.825, 0.501), value-added coefficient is 0.884(0.479, 0.547), income inducement coefficient is 0.454(0.211, 0.236), tax inducement coefficient is 0.110(0.090, 0.146) and employment inducement coefficient is 0.017(0.014, 0.022).

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the impact of enterprise R&D investment on inter-industry technology spillover in Korea under the new Normal Era. In order to do this, we tested the effect of production inducement, backward and forward linkage effects, and the effect of technology spillover such as technology intensity effects and technology diffusion effects based on an input-output framework. The results show that the high index industries of the production inducement effect were professional, scientific and technical activities, manufacture of metal products, and general machinery. Some manufacturers of other non-metallic mineral products and transport equipment sectors appeared to have the strong effect of forward and backward linkages that were almost equivalent to high-tech manufacturing industries. In particular, the industries of professional, scientific and technical activities appeared to have the strong effect of both forward and backward linkages. Therefore, we need to drive a strong policy support to higher enterprise R&D investment in the those particular industries not only to increase global competitiveness, but also to widen up the technology spillover effect on other industries.

  • Port industry has achieved a remarkable growth with a help from increase in container shipment and above all, transshipment that reflects international competitive power of Port industry amounts to 36% of the national harbor shipment. Therefore, this study speculates the impact of Port industry on national economy using the inter-industry relation table. As it considers the reason why international competitive power in Port facilities decreased as absence of investment, it is to present an effective investment plan for Port industry. Though Port industry as one of main national key industries play an important role in production of national economy, it has been evaluated as having relatively less importance. And when Port industry is managed independently, relying on foreign countries without improvement, price increase due to improper agreement of foreign enterprises and problems relating to securing safe transportational vehicles will have tremendous impact on national economy. And they should try to create added-value and support re-export of the exported and imported shipment through their processing and packaging by making Port zones bonded area. production of national economy, it has been evaluated as having relatively less importance. • This paper focuses on the retail industry of industrial share of the GDP, productivity of distribution industry and input-out analysis between Korea and Japan, also results are summarized as follows. First, the share of GDP in agriculture, forestry and fisheries of the both countries is falling. That of manufacture increases in South Korea, while Japan is falling. While distribution industry shows vice versa. Employed population by industry is falling both countries also. The relative labor productivity shows that agriculture, forestry and fisheries, retail industry needs more labor, while manufacture has been met for both countries. Second, compare to Japan, the retail industry of Korea has been increased since 1990. Likewise, overall productivity of distribution industry in Korea has been increased while almost that of Japan has declined. Third, production inducement effects of Japan are greater than that of Korea. On the other hand, import inducement effects show vice versa. Fourth, as shown from the final demand of distribution industry and the rate of dependence on production inducement, we can see that the “increase in stocks” increases while gross government fixed capital formation shows vice versa. Korea's private consumption expenditure increases while Japan shows versa. South Korea's government consumption expenditure and exports are rising, on the other hand, that of Japan is declining. Fifth, the rate of dependence on distribution industry and import inducement shows the same tendency from both countries. As we can see from the private consumption expenditure, government consumption expenditure, gross government fixed capital formation, gross private fixed capital formation, increase in stocks, the rate of dependence on import inducement is more effective than the rate of dependence on production inducement. While the exports are comparatively ineffective. Sixth, the degrees of influence of retail industry are similar between Korea and Japan, while sensitivity of the Korean industry has been weakened. In this sense, strong policies are needed to boost the industry. Seventh, the investments in the retail industry of Korea showed the public-led trend, while Japan showed private sector-led investment trend. The investment trend of Korea's retail industry will be switched into private sector-led investment step by step in the future. This finding will be an important clue to set the policy direction of Korea distribution industry. Finally, both Korea and Japan are still in need of employment in retail industry. Not addressed in this paper, such as value-added-induced effects, employment inducement effect, will be remaining challenges in the following paper.
