Leaked Radioactive source in nuclear power station, radiation related facilities and the aging nuclear power plant for the dismantling must need to detect and remove early to prevent major accidents. In this paper, we implemented a single sensor-based gamma-ray detectors stereo which can provide the distance to the radiation source, a direction and doserate information for fast and efficient decontamination work the radiation source. And we have carried out an algorithm development for high-speed detection of the detection equipment. Two detectors are required for stereo structure for obtaining the distance information of the radioactive source, but we designed the only sensor-based detection device for the weight reduction. We have extracted the region of interest and obtained the distance calculation result and distribution of radiation source in order to minimize a stereo image acquisition time. Detection time of the algorithm showed a shorter time of about 41%.

In case of dismantling of nuclear power generation facility or radiation accident, the accurate information of gammaray source is essential for rapid decontamination. In order to more efficiently represent the position of the gamma ray to be removed, we create a spatial domain based on the real image. And we can perform decontamination of gamma-ray source more quickly by expressing the distribution of radiation source. The developed gamma ray imaging device overlaps with the visible image after gamma - ray detection and provides only two - dimensional image, but it does not show the distance information to the source. In this paper, we have developed a operation environment using the 3D visualization model for reporting effective decontamination operation.

Recently, most countries in the world have pursued a denuclearization. So it has been of interest to increase to Nuclear weapon in such as North Korea's continued nuclear test. Pulsed gamma rays produced in the nuclear explosion and the space environment can give the big damage to the electronic device in a very short period of time. To confirm the extent of damage of these electronic devices, pulsed gamma irradiation facility that can occur in nuclear weapon or space environment are required. In this paper, we implemented the pulsed gamma-ray detection module and analyzed output of the irradiation test. We have experimented using an electron beam accelerator research facilities in Pohang Accelerator similar conditions to equip and Nuclear weapon. As a result, we confirmed that the pulsed gamma rays emitted by the gamma radiation and electron beam conversion device. The results of this paper will contribute to improve the reliability and accuracy of studies for utilizing pulsed gamma rays.

광변환 물질을 사용하여 X-선이나 감마방사선을 가시광으로 변환한 다음 CCD 카메라를 통하여 광량을 측정하면 방사선의 양을 간접적으로 측정할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 CCD형 비상대용 로봇용 고속 삼차원 방사선 위치 탐지장치에서 방사선 위치 센싱의 핵심 역할을 수행하는 CCD 방사선 탐지부를 간접 방사선 측정 방법을 응용하여 고안하고 구현한 다음 이에 대한 방사선 특성시험을 수행하였다. 시험 결과로 부터 구현한 CCD형 방사선 센서가 방사선 위치 및 선량 탐지장치로 활용 가능성이 충분함 확인하였다.

To carry out safe and rapid decontamination in radiological accident areas, acquisition of various information on radiation sources is needed. In particular, to figure out the location and distribution of radiation sources is essential for rapid follow-up and removal of contaminants as well as minimizing worker damage. The radiation distribution detection device is used to obtain the position and distribution information of the radiation source. In the case of a radiation distribution detection device, a detection sensor unit is generally composed of a single sensor, and the detection range is limited due to the physical characteristics of the single sensor. We applied a calibration detector for controlling the detection sensitivity of a single sensor for radiation detection and improved the limited detection range of radiation dose rate. Also, gamma irradiation test confirmed the improvement of radiation distribution detection range.

Neutron induced prompt gamma activation analysis (PGAA) offers a nondestructive, sensitive and relatively rapid method for the determination of trace and major elements and is proven to be convenient for online analysis of minerals, metals, coal, cement, petrochemical, coating, paper as well as many other materials and products. The technique has found many uses in medicine, industry, research, security and the detection of contraband items. This report reviews the present status and future trends of the PGAA techniques. Requirements for the system are neutron source, high resolution HPGe detectors with a high-voltage power supply, an amplifier, analog-to-digital converter, and a multichannel analyzer for the detection and measurement of prompt ${\gamma}$-ray emit form the neutron capture elements. Introducing a ${\gamma}$-${\gamma}$ coincidence system also improves the quality of the ${\gamma}$-ray spectrum by suppressing the background created from the Compton scattering of high energy prompt ${\gamma}$-rays. A PGAA system using a $^{252}Cf$ neutron source is currently under construction for the on-line measurement of several elements in aqueous samples at KAERI. The system can be applied for the detection of chemical weapons and explosives as well as various narcotics.

In this paper, we propose the fast and efficient detection method using the continuous measurement technique for the gamma-ray signal acquisition. This method is improved than the conventional method for the getting information of the radiation distribution. First, we implement the stereo radiation detection system using gamma-ray sensors and the motion controller. We apply continuous measurement technique to the gamma-ray detector and conduct gamma-ray irradiation test for the comparison of detection techniques. The results show that the continuous measurement technique has the high efficient performance than the conventional method.

The radiation sources leaked from large-scale radiation leak accident like the Fukushima nuclear power plant accident or nuclear explosions can cause to the very large damage for us. So that the damage can be minimized, we have being developed a detector that can providing information about the location of the source to remove dangerous substances quickly than the conventional single detector. In this paper, we designed and implemented the radiation shield and the collimator for the development of the stereo radiation detector to detect contamination things using MCNP Simulation. And we analysed the test results of the radiation shield and collimator using the radiation source. The results of this paper will be used as the basis for improving the efficiency of the stereo radiation detector being studied currently.

CCD형 영상소자는 방사선 피폭 시 표면과 격자내부에 모두 손상을 받게 되며, 감마방사선이나 X선과 같은 고에너지의 이온화 방사선에 노출될 경우 격자 실리콘 내부에 전자-전공쌍(Electron-hole pair, EHP)이 발생된다. 이러한 EHP는 CCD의 순간 출력 광전류로 변환되어 백색 화소 형태의 영상잡음으로 가시화되며, 이 화소 수는 피폭 방사선량에 비례하여 증가하는 특성을 지니고 있다. 따라서 출력 영상정보를 분석하면 조사된 방사선의 양과 특성을 측정할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 CCD를 이용하여 가상의 방사능 물질 누출 공간에서 방사선원의 방향과 거리정보를 고속으로 탐지하기 위한 장치와 고속 측정 알고리즘을 구현하고 실제 방사선장에서 실증시험을 수행하였다. 방사선 탐지기는 콘형 납 콜리메이터(Collimator)와 가시광 변환용 신틸레이터(CsITl) 및 차폐체로 구성된 센서부와 제어 및 방사광 신호처리를 수행하는 PC부로 구성된다. 감마방사선($^{60}Co$) 방사선장 실증시험에서 방사선원간 거리 83cm에서 측정된 거리 탐지는 5.3%의 오차로 확인되었다. 이 방사선 탐지기는 임의의 고방사선 누출사고에 대한 초기대응 작업을 수행하기 위한 무인 이동로봇용 방사선 탐지기로 활용이 가능하다.
