  • The Purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of a simulated and structured senior program on nursing students. 42 nursing students participated in a simulated and structured senior program. Simulation equipment to revive the old man's feeling consisted of special space suits, glasses, gloves and sandbags. After the experiment, subjects composed the paper, which were analyzed according to the thematic content analysis method. Through the simulated and structured senior program, students could deepen their understanding not only upon physical weakness but also environment of elderly. And they came to have a wide perspectives of the elderly nursing.

  • This study is a qualitative study that explores the essential meaning of nursing through a simulation curriculum targeting nursing students. In this study, 18 students, who were 4th grade nursing students at a university in M city, Gyeongsangbuk-do, completed a simulation during the curriculum. Data collection was done through free-form reports and interviews to help students understand the part of nursing they thought through simulation classes. The collected data was analyzed using Krippendorff's phenomenological method. As a result of analyzing the meaning of nursing through simulation class, 3 categories, 10 topics, and 28 meaningful statements were derived. The three categories were derived as 'virtual nursing', 'thinking nursing', and 'together nursing'. As a result of this study, nursing students were seeking their own solution to solve nursing in unpredictable situations based on the philosophy of nursing through virtual simulation. It is expected that this will be used as basic data to develop various and in-depth simulation education programs in the future.

  • This study was conducted to identify the factors affecting the communication competency in nursing students. Method: The subjects of this study were 171 nursing students from two universities located in G and P cities. The collected data were analyzed by t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's Correlation Coefficient, and Multiple Regression Analysis. Results: As a result of multiple regression analysis, the significant predictors of communication competency of nursing students were interpersonal relationships(β=.404, p<.001) and positive thinking(β=.274, p=.014). Communication competency was explained 47.9% of variance in interpersonal relationship and positive thinking. Conclusion: The results of this study showed that interpersonal relationship and positive thinking in nursing students were the influential factor on communication competency. Therefore, the results of this study suggest that it is necessary to find ways to improve interpersonal relationship and positive thinking in order to improve communication competency of nursing students, and it is considered to be useful as basic data for developing intervention programs to improve communication competency.

  • Patients, particularly elderly patients, need nursing appropriate to their characteristics and pace, whereas 'fast nursing' is actually emphasized in Korea. Hence, this study attempts to identify the characteristics of 'slow nursing' in Korea. Walker & Avant's approach to concept analysis was performed through a literature review on the concept of 'slow nursing.' A literature search and concept analysis, using the keywords of 'slow,' 'slow nursing' and 'slow prescription' in Pubmed, Riss, NDSL, DBPIA, and Google Scholar from 2000 to 2019, yielded the following attributes of 'slow nursing': 'respect for the speed of the subject,' 'carefulness,' 'comfort in the process,' 'participation' and 'consideration of the meaning of life.' Model cases were derived based on these attributes. Predisposing factors involved in 'slow nursing' include patient malfunction, psychological deflection, indifference, fear of treatment, and lack of willingness to live. The outcomes were a discovery of patients' potential capacities, recovery of confidence, health promotion, improved communication with medical staff, confidence, and self-integrity. It is expected that the development of measurement tools using the attributes of 'slow nursing' would contribute to patient nursing and research in the future.

  • The purpose of this study was to develop a nursing management case simulation (NMCS) framework based on the five components of nursing management process and to apply it to clinical nursing practice of nursing college students. The subjects of this study were NMCS reports submitted by the 4th grade 105 nursing students of an university. The research tool is a simulation framework for nursing management practice. It reflects the brainstorming and debriefing process used in the previous simulation exercise based on the five elements of planning, organization, human resource management, directing and control of the nursing management process respectively. As a result of the study, 32 nursing management cases were found to have 79.6% correct rate, 11.6% concept error rate, and 5.6% classification error rate in the first brainstorming and debriefing process for the five components of nursing management process. On the other hand, in the second brainstorming and debriefing process, 94.6% correct rate, 0.0% concept error rate, and 4.4% classification error rate. Based on these results, the NMCS framework developed in this study can be applied to the nursing management theory and practice course of nursing college students as well as simulation based job training and maintenance educations for clinical nurses. Therefore, we propose follow-up studies in various clinical nursing settings and a longitudinal cohort study to investigate the effect of nursing management job skills of nursing college students after graduation.

  • This is a qualitative study to explore the experiences of convergence external appraisal of competency in core basic nursing skills in final year nursing students. Eight nursing students who experienced the evaluation were intentionally sampled. Data were analyzed using constant comparative and categorical content analysis after collecting data through focus group interview. The results of this study showed that nursing students sublimated mental stress such as burden and pressure of the evaluation into a positive experience that they skillfully improved their nursing skills through mind control and cooperation with peers. Therefore, this study enabled us to understand the experience of students receiving external appraisal. In addition, intervention studies to alleviate mental stress on convergence external appraisal are needed.

Nursing Students and the 150 people who underwent descriptive research targets, data collection period was done by November 30, 2019 from IRB approval. The data were analyzed correlations between variables were analyzed using Pearson's correlation coefficient, and stepwise multiple regression analysis was used to determine the factors that affect the clinical performance of the Nursing Students (SPSS 23 version). As a result of the study, empathy ability was positively correlated with gender (r=.179, p=.029), self-esteem was negatively correlated with academic performance (r=-.231, p=.005), career preparation behavior showed a positive correlation with the number of practice hospitals(r=.178, p=.030). As the empathy ability of nursing students improved (β=.19, p=.020), career preparation behavior increased. Through this, the study is meaningful in that it suggested the need and direction to maintain a positive attitude toward career preparation behaviors of nursing students. suggest.

  • The purpose of this study was to meta-synthesize the results of qualitative research that explored the experiences of nursing care in a domestic nurse to understand the phenomenon. The research method was a qualitative meta-synthesis study, which was analyzed using Thomas and Harden's methods. This was analyzed by searching for quality assessments for individual studies, extracting data for analysis, and meta-synthesizing the results. As a result of the study, it appeared as five synthetic themes. 1) Disaster nursing that begins with anxiety and fear, 2) Disaster nursing process: An atmosphere that feels even loneliness and burden in isolation and disconnection, 3) Disaster nursing process: Being in a poor and diverse environment, 4) Disaster nursing process: Although exhausted Endure and overcome. 5) After disaster care: A leap forward for development beyond mission and self-esteem. Conclusion, this study is expected to be a useful basic data for the development and application of nurse's disaster nursing programs and educational programs in the future.
