Analysis of Parallel Interference Cancellation with the Improved Initial Stage (초기단을 개선시킨 병렬형 간섭 제거기에 관한 분석)

  • In this paper, we introduce a modified interference cancellation scheme to overcome MAI(Multiple Access Interference) in DS-CDMA. Among ICs(Interference Cancellers), PIC(Parallel Interference Canceller) requires the more stages to have the better BER(Bit Error Rate), and SIC(Successive Interference Canceller) faces the problems of power reordering and large delays. To resolve the problems of them, we propose a modified interference cancellation scheme combining SIC and PIC. The proposed interference canceller has improved the performance through the total received signal applied sorting method is fed into the initial stage. Its structure extracts the good characteristics because of the input signal removed MAI in the initial stage. The characteristics of the proposed system are as follows (1) smaller delay, and the strongest user signal is also reduced to MAI(unlike SIC), (2) it has the good BER performance only using fewer stages (unlike PIC).

Most of all, the adaptive detector achieves the good BER performance using the adaptive filter conducted iteration algorithm. so it requires many iterations. To resolve the problems of them, we propose an improved adaptive detector that the received signal removed MAI through the sorting scheme and the cancellation method are fed into the adaptive filter. Because the improved input signal is fed into the adaptive filter, it has the same BER performance only using smaller iterations than the conventional adaptive detector, and the proposed detector having adaptive filter requires less complexity than the other detectors.

  • This paper proposes theorthogonal reference vectors selection method of the subspace interference alignment. The proposed method selects multiple orthogonal reference vectors instead of using one reference vector for all users at the same time. The proposed scheme selects a reference vector which maximizes a sum-rate for a certain cell, generates orthogonal vectors to the previous selected vector and selects the one of orthogonal vectors whose sum rate is maximized for each cell. Larger channel gain and sum-rate than the previous method can be obtained by selection degree of freedom. The computer simulation demonstrates the proposed method gives higher sum-rate compared with that of the previous reference vector selection method.

  • Optical performance evaluation results and an interference fringe pattern analysis of alignment errors for an optical head of a near-field receding (NFR) system are presented. The focusing unit is an optical head of a NFR system and is composed of a solid immersion lens (SIL) and an objective lens (OL). Generally, the size of the focusing unit is smaller than that of the conventional optical recording head. Hence there are difficulties to assemble the small focusing unit precisely. We composed an evaluation system with an interferometer and evaluated some focusing unit samples aligned and assembled by manual and present the obtained results. Using the conventional optical tool, Code V, a tolerance analysis of the alignment error between the SIL and the objective lens and an interference pattern analysis for the assembly error are executed. Then, through an analysis of the simulation results, the conceptual auto-alignment methodology using a neural network approach is considered.

Hybrid Interference Cancellation for OFDMA Uplink in Time-Varying Fading Channels (시변 페이딩 채널에서 상향 직교 주파수 분할 다중 접속을 위한 혼합 간섭 제거 기법)

  • In time-varying multipath fading channels, orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) uplink systems suffer severe performance degradation caused by inter-channel interference (ICI). In this paper, we propose a hybrid interference cancellation (HIC) for suppressing the degradation effect of ICI. The proposed HIC can achieve both exact interference cancellation and low detection complexity through efficient combination of parallel detection and serial cancellation. Simulation results show that, as the effect of Doppler increases, the proposed HIC achieves bit error rate (BER) performance enhancement in compared with severe performance degradation of conventional OFDMA receivers. In addition, both the computational complexity and total detection time are reduced.

Diffraction grating interferometer of large equivalent wavelength for flatness testing of rough surfaces (거친 표면 형상측정을 위한 큰 등가파장 회절격자 간섭계)

  • We present a diffraction grating interferometer of large equivalent wavelength specially designed for flatness testing of rough surfaces. Two transmission diffraction gratings are illuminated on the object under test by use of two measurement beams with different angles of incidence, which yields a large equivalent wavelength. This interferometer design minimizes unnecessary diffraction rays and the systematic error caused by the diffraction gratings, and provides a large working distance and easy alignment. To improve the measurement accuracy, phase shifting technique is applied and the equivalent wavelength error caused by defocus is calibrated. Test results obtained from mirror surfaces and machined rough surfaces are discussed.

Interference Alignment in 2-user X Channel System with Orthogonal and quasi-orthogonal Space-time Block Codes (직교 및 준직교 시공간 블록 부호를 통한 2-사용자 X 채널에서의 간섭정렬)

  • In this paper, we investigate achieving the full diversity order and power gains in case of using OSTBCs and quasi-OSBCs in the x channel system with interference alignment with more than 2 antennas at each terminal. A slight degradation is remarked in the case of quasi-OSTBCs. In terms of receiver structure, we show that due to the favorable structure of the channel matrices, the simple zero-forcing receiver achieves the full diversity order, while the interference cancellation receiver leads to degradations in performance. As compared to the conventional scheme, simulation results demonstrate that our proposed schemes achieve 14dB and 16.5dB of gain at a target bit error rate (BER) of 10-4 in the case of OSTBCs with 3 and 4 antennas at each terminal, respectively, while achieving the same spectral efficiency. Also, a gain of 10dB is achieved at the same target BER in the case of quasi-OSTBC with 4 antennas at each terminal.

Align-free Micro-optic Mach-Zehnder Interferometric Filter (정렬에 무관한 마이크로옵틱 마하젠더 간섭계형 필터)

  • A novel alignment-free micro-optic MZI filter has been demonstrated. The filter is composed of two fiber-pigtailed collimators and a beam-splittingplate with a periodically etched stripe pattern. We fabricated the plate through a standard lithographic formulation process by using a pyrex substrate glass with SU-8 resist coating on its one of the surfaces. The maximum insertion loss of the implemented filter was less than 2 dB over 1000 nm to 1600 nm and the extinction ratio was larger than 33 dB. The measured PDL within the 3-dB pass band of the filter was less than 0.15dB and the maximum extinction ratio variation was less than 2 dB even when the worst alignment error occured.
