The study that in order to create a family-friendly corporate culture, the company should not only introduce the policy to employees but also provide the support and atmosphere for the employees to utilize the family-friendly policy easily, and to establish a companywide support policy, organizational practitioners should find the way family-friendly policies to be rooted in the organization.

  • The purpose of this research was to examine the perceptions of CEOs and HR managers on family-friendly management and family-friendly company certification in small- and medium-size businesses. Six CEOs and HR managers participated in focus group interviews. Five themes were identified: provision of various family-friendly workplace policies, recognition of the need for family-friendly management, difficulty introducing family-friendly management and family-friendly workplace policies, willingness to acquire family-friendly company certification, and ways to expand family-friendly management and family-friendly company certification. All participants agreed on the need for family-friendly management and provided different family-friendly workplace policy suggestions for employees regardless of their interests in acquiring family-friendly company certification. However, they also had difficulties introducing family-friendly workplace policies. This finding suggests that different incentives are needed to encourage companies to expand family-friendly workplace policies.

  • This study examined the effects of the revised and newly established family care leave and vacation systems in 2019 on the work-family balance of female managers. A total of 1,040 female managers with experience in using the systems were selected as the analysis subjects from the 2020 Women Managers Panel data. Propensity score matching and multiple regression analysis were conducted. The propensity score matching results showed that the family care time of the users of the family care leave was significantly lower than that of non-users, and both the work-family conflict and home-work conflict levels were significantly higher for the users than the non-users. For the family care vacation, the family care time of its users was significantly higher in national and local government organizations than that if its non-users. The results of multiple regression analysis indicated that the use of the family care leave had a significant positive impact on home-work conflict. These findings suggest that the current family care leave and vacation system have insufficient positive effects on work-family relationships.

  • This study aims to investigate causes of the emergence of so-called 'family-care workers' in the Long-term Care Insurance system in Korea. The LTCI system introduced in 2008 financially support the utilization of formal care services for the eligible elderly with care needs by paying for services of their care workers. Interestingly, 38.4 percent of payments for the in-home services were claimed by family members registered as qualified long-term care workers in 2012. We interviewed ten family care workers in depth and analyzed the needs of the aged and their families to explain the emergence of family care workers. The emergence of family-care workers is an inevitable result of choice by family members who face a dual burden of living and caring; be the additional choice following discharge the duty to support the elderly; be the alternative choice to fulfill unaccepted needs for services. These results suggest the needs for a comprehensive public provision of both income and social service support for the aged and an introduction of financial support for family care complementing the formal care support in the LTCI in Korea.

  • This research studies the characteristics of the family systems of traditional societies in Black Africa. For this purpose, this study has chosen three subtopics: the distinctive features of traditional societies, marriage customs (polygamy and polyandry), and the societal features of patriarchal and matriarchal societies. First, we analyze men's and women's roles, ownership and management of the land, dowry, and social values of livestock as the distinctive features that support the family system in traditional Black African societies. These elements play an important role in increasing the number of family members. Next we analyze marriage customs-polygamy and polyandry-which increase the number of family members, on the one hand, and secure the labor force, on the other hand. Most traditional societies in Black Africa prectice polygamy. However, the $Bashil{\acute{e}}l{\acute{e}}$ and Bahima prectice polyandry. Polygamy in traditional societies in Black Africa is based on the traditional social customs that display the authority and dignity of the family head, who has control over all family members in both patrilineal and matrilineal societies. The authority and dignity of the family head are used to keep and increase the number of family members, that is, to secure the community firmly. Finally, most traditional societies are patrilineal. However, matrilineal societies are prevalent in the so-called Matrilineal Belt, which term refers to the savanna regions where Bantu peoples reside, that is, the coastal regions from the Angolan coast, bordering the Atlantic, to the Tanzanian and Mozambique coasts that border the Indian Ocean. These societies trace descent through the maternal bloodline. The traditional family system in Black Africa is based on economic social, and political factors, as well as on the community spirit of the members, which has resulted from the choices made to increase the prosperity and well-being of the people.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the availability of family-friendly systems for female workers with children under elementary school, and to verify that the availability of family-friendly systems can mitigate the negative effects of workplace-home conflicts on family and work-life satisfaction. To this end, data of 538 female employees with children younger than elementary school students were analyzed using the sixth data of the Korean Women Manager Panel. According to the analysis, the type of family-friendly system such as time flexibility system, career flexibility system, and worker support system all showed significant adjustment effect in relation to workplace-family conflict and work life satisfaction. The career flexibility system was the only one that showed a control effect on family life satisfaction. To help talented female workers work for their children without severing their careers, the government proposed active support for businesses and the government to help them use the family-friendly system.
