This study analyzed the state of battered women who drink at a dangerously high level and the factors that influence their hazardous drinking in order to promote their safety and their healthy adjustments. The researchers utilized the data from "Analysis of the Effectiveness of Intimate Partner Violence Offenders Correction and Treatment Program" funded by Ministry of Gender Equality, and thereby, sampled 124 battered women for interview over phone. The results of applying the WHO's standard for hazardous drinking based on frequency and quantity calculations showed that 15.7% of survey participants were classified as hazardous drinkers, either currently experiencing or having the risk of experiencing problems related to drinking. The result of carrying out a logistic regression analysis to identify the factors that influence hazardous drinking showed that household income and self-blame were factors that exerted statistically significant influence. Based on these results, clinical and practical intervention plans for helping battered women who drink hazardously were discussed.
As there is a growing concern about the steady increase in the consumer debt and its potential consequences on individuals and families, this study examined the association between personal debt and the risk of domestic violence, which in this study is referred to as violence between man and woman who have a spousal relationship. We used the data from the Korea Welfare Panel Study collected from 2009 to 2016. We applied a generalized estimating equation approach for the analysis of panel data. The results show that the higher the ratio of personal debt to disposable income and the ratio of debt payment to disposal income is, the greater the risk of domestic violence. While the debt to income ratio played a role regarding was related to a heightened risk of domestic violence among the poor group, the debt payment to income ratio was associated with a higher risk of domestic violence among the non-poor group. Implications of the study were discussed.
This study was attempted to understand the effect of the violence victim experience of Korean adolescents on smoking using the data of the 15th (2019) online youth health behavior survey. The subjects of this study were 57,303 people, and the data were analyzed using the SPSS / Win 26.0 program for frequency analysis of complex samples, cross sample analysis (Rao-Scott 2 test), and logistic regression analysis of complex samples. The main result was 12.7% of the smoking subjects. Those who smoked were significantly more 9.6% and 22.0%, respectively, compared to those who had no more than 1 or 2 times of violence. Smoking of Korean adolescents adjusted for gender, grade, academic record, economic status, drinking, family living, and usual stress increased the odds ratio for smoking by 1.66 times when the degree of violence damage experience increased by 1 unit. As a result of the above, as the degree of violence victimization of adolescents increases, the likelihood of smoking increases. Therefore, it is necessary to multidisciplinary convergence effort to the prevention and management of violence of adolescents, and to reduce the smoking of adolescents.

This study was conducted to evaluate nursing students' experiences with violence, as well as their responses and behaviors subsequent to being subjected to violence. A descriptive survey was conducted and data were collected from April 30 to July 6, 2012. Responses were obtained from the 290 nursing students studying at six universities in four cities using self-administered questionnaires. About 91% of the students were subjected to violence. Verbal violence (85.2%) was the most frequently encountered type of violence, followed by physical threats (74.8%), sexual violence (41.0%), and physical violence (26.2%). Participants were abused by patients or patients' family members, as well as clinical staff, such as nurses and doctors. After the nursing students were exposed to violence, they responded more negatively to psychological aspects than to biophysical or social aspects. Most students did "not react to the person inflicting violence and continued clinical practice" (51.7%), and this response was cited by students as their most frequently used method of coping (79.5%) after violent confrontations. Strategies should be taken to prevent the violence inflicted upon nursing students in clinical settings, and nursing students should be provided with information related to communication and methods to cope with violence during their education.
