A Study on the Influence of Paternalistic Leadership on Organizational Commitment -The Mediating Effect of Organizational Identification- (가장적 리더십이 조직몰입에 미치는 영향 - 조직 동일시의 매개효과를 중심으로 -)

  • This paper aims to regard paternalistic leadership as research object, introduces organizational identification as intermediary variable to find out the impact on organizational commitment, using a sample of 406 employees from enterprises. Results showed that first, authoritarianism had no impact on organizational commitment, while benevolence and morality related positively to organizational commitment. Second, paternalistic leadership had positive effect on organizational identification. Third, organizational identification mediated the relationship between morality and organizational commitment, but did not mediate the relationship between benevolence and organizational commitment. Limitations of the study, and implications of the findings are discussed.

  • 우리 대학의 리더십 발휘와 책무는 대학사회의 구성원과 정치·경제적 압력, 제도 시스템과 같은 상황적 요소들이 작용하고 있다. 그러나 무엇보다도 가장 큰 정당성의 파워와 정책 결정의 권한을 가진 총장의 리더십이야말로 대학조직 전체 리더십의 핵심 요소이자 촉매제이다. 이러한 총장 리더십의 공통적인 덕목을 집약해 보면 대학총장은 비전과 꿈을 가져야 하며, 창조적 사고를 가지고, 대학의 생존전략 우선순위를 선택할 수 있는 능력 있고 전문가적인 자질을 가져야 한다. 또한 개방된 의식을 지녀야 하며, 국제적 감각이 있는, 교육경영자로서의 CEO형 총장이 되어야 한다. 그리고 재원확보에 다각적인 노력을 하여 그 기대에 부응해야 한다.

Research Trends in Transformational Leadership: Focusing on Domestic Journals Published in 2007-2016 (변혁적 리더십의 연구동향 분석: 최근 10년(2007-2016)간 국내 학술지 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the research trend of transformational leadership published in domestic journals in the last 10 years and to find some implications for future research. For this purpose, 337 research papers on transformational leadership from 2007 to 2016 were reviewed. This study used descriptive statistics by frequency and percentage and a network text analysis method. The findings of the study are as follows. First, the annual average number of papers published was 33. Second, 'human resource management research' was the most common topic. Third, most of the research subjects were business employees. Fourth, the research method trend analysis showed that the highest proportion was in the quantitative research. Fifth, 'transactional leadership' showed the highest frequency as a result of analyzing the keywords presented in the abstract of the paper. Sixth, as a result of analyzing the network texts, those having the trend of being analyzed with a close connections were 'transactional leadership', which had the highest connection to transformational leadership, showing the closest relationship with 'role satisfaction'.

A Study on the Relationship between Leadership Styles and Organizational Outcome in Oklahoma's Volunteer Fire Department (리더십 유형과 조직성과와의 관계 분석 - 미국 오클라호마주 의용소방대를 중심으로 -)

  • This study aims to determine dominant leadership styles of the U.S. volunteer fire department and analyzes relationship between leadership styles of a fire chiefs and organizational outcome. This study reviewed 205 volunteer fire fighters in Oklahoma State which is located in middle and southern part of the U.S. As research results, it turned out that the most common leadership type of volunteer fire chiefs is transformational leadership. The second most common leadership type is transactional leadership. Laissez-faire leadership was the least common leadership type. This study analyzed that transformational leadership and transactional leadership have positive relationship with organizational outcome. In contrast, laissez-faire leadership has negative relationship with organizational outcome. Also, it turned out that the volunteer fire fighters evaluate that transformational and transactional leadership decrease as working years of current volunteer fire chiefs increase.

  • This study explores the relationships among franchisor's leadership style, franchisee's revenue, and commitment The main purpose of this study is when the causal relationship between leadership style and revenue to determine the mediating effect of commitment and when causal relationship between leadership style and commitment to determine the moderating effect of motivation. The results of the study show that franchisor's leadership styles are significantly related to franchisee's revenue. Although all leadership styles exhibit significant relationships with franchisee's revenue, only achievement oriented leadership style plays a significant role in the formation of franchisee's revenue. The level of franchisee's intrinsic motivation is significantly moderated between franchisor's supportive leadership style and commitment. It is also revealed that commitment exhibit complete or partial mediation effect in the relationships between franchisor's all leadership style and franchisee's revenue. Implications and future research directions are also discussed.

  • 조직에는 조직의 목적을 효율적으로 달성할 수 있도록 조직구성원들을 움직이게 하는 리더가 존재하게 된다. 조직 내에 달성해야 할 비전과 목표가 있고 그것을 수행해야 할 과업에 있어서 가장 필요한 것은 구성원들의 비전과 목표를 달성하기 위한 리더십이 중요한 요인이다. 리더십은 비전과 목표달성을 위해 다른 사람들의 행동에 영향을 미치는 과정이기 때문이다. 따라서 모든 유형의 집단이나 조직, 그리고 지역사회나 국가에는 효과적인 리더십이 필요하고 그 같은 효과적인 리더십을 발휘할 유능한 리더가 요구된다. 따라서 리더십은 모든 집단이나 조직의 중요한 자산이며 성공요인이 아닐 수 없다. 특히 중소기업의 경우 기업경영전반에 걸쳐 경영자의 기호나 의도에 따라 수시로 변하는 경우가 많고, 최고 경영자의 개인적 속성이 조직구조나 전략에 적지 않은 영향을 미치기 때문에 최고경영자의 리더십이 중소기업의 조직문화 형성에 대기업보다 훨씬 많은 영향을 미치고 있다. 변혁적 리더십은 사장이 카리스마, 지적자극, 개별적 배려 등을 통해 종업원들에게 기대를 능가하는 최고의 노력을 발휘하도록 동기부여 시키는 것이다. 변혁적 리더십을 발휘하는 사장은 종업원들의 욕구수준을 높여 주고 자신감을 심어줌으로써 성공에 대한 확신을 높여준다면 종업원들로 하여금 조직에 대한 몰입을 이끌어 낼 수 있고, 보통이상의 추가노력과 낮은 이직의도를 거둘 수 있다는 것이다. 따라서 본 연구는 연구의 목적을 달성하기 위해 연구와 관련된 선행연구자들을 분석하고, 이를 토대로 연구모형을 설계하여 중소제조업체의 CEO들에게 요구하는 리더십모형을 제시하였다. 중소기업의 리더십 유형을 카리스마적, 전략적, 거래적, 변혁적 이론 등을 기본으로 하여 기업에 어떠한 영향을 주는지를 이론을 통해 제시하였다. 이러한 리더십 유형들이 기업의 목표에 영향을 주는지를 분석한 후 여기에서 중소기업의 CEO에게 필요로 하는 리더십 유형을 제시하였다.

  • The purpose of this research is to analyze the mediating effects of knowledge management activities in the relationships between superiors' transformational leadership and their organizational commitment and between the their transformational leadership and knowledge management activities and organizational commitment by industry with 635 employees of large companies as the participants in this research. The results of this research can be summarized as follows. It was found that the superiors' transformational leadership had significant effects on their knowledge management activities and organizational commitment. Also, it was found that their knowledge management activities had significant effects on their organizational commitment. It was found that the superiors' transformational leadership had partial mediating effects with regard to the mediating role of their knowledge management activities in their organizational commitment. Finally, the results of the analysis by industry showed that the effects of the superiors' transformational leadership on their knowledge management activities were the greatest in the service industry and the effects of their knowledge management activities on their organizational commitment were also the greatest in the service industry. It was also found that the effects of the superiors' transformational leadership on their organizational commitment were the greatest in the IT industry. In this research, it was recognized that transformational leadership plays an important role as a prerequisite factor for promoting organizational effectiveness, and these results imply that transformational leadership means not only achieving goals, but also pursuing changes and innovation and, at the same time, developing the latent capabilities and strengths of the organization's members and promoting their confidence and passion by stimulating their positive strengths, so that they can achieve higher than expected outcomes.

The Effect of Coach's Transformational·Transactional Leadership on Athlete's Self-Efficacy among Physical Education High School Students (감독의 변혁적·거래적 리더십이 학생 운동선수의 자기효능감에 미치는 영향: 체육고등학교를 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of coaches' transformational transactional leadership on athletes' self-efficacy among high school students. A total of 400 high school athletes from S and D city were selected through the convenience sampling method. A total of 258 questionnaires were returned and 39 were discarded due to missing values. Therefore, a total of 219 questionnaires were analyzed using SPSS 20.0. This study found the following: First, the intellectual stimulation of leadership had the greatest effect on self-regulated efficacy of self-efficacy. Second, inspirational motivation of leadership had the greatest effect on confidence of self-efficacy. Third, leadership factors did not affect task difficulty preference of self-efficacy.

The Influences of Teachers' Self-leadership and Principals' Leadership on Teachers' Efficacy (민간 어린이집 교사가 지각하는 셀프리더십과 원장 리더십이 교사효능감에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of directors' leadership and teachers' self leadership on teachers' efficacy. The participants were 217 teachers in private day care centers. LBDQ (Halpin, 1967), RSLQ (Houghton & Neck, 2002), and a teachers' efficacy questionnaire (Kim & Lee) were used. The data collected were analyzed by SPSS 18.0. The results of this study were as follows: First, teachers cognized that directors' leadership was very high. Second, directors' leadership was clustered by 4 types: human oriented, task oriented, leader and deficient type. And, teachers' efficacy was clustered by 4 types: leader, restricted, compensated and task oriented type. Third, directors' task oriented leadership, human oriented leadership, and teachers' self leadership (self punishment, self-goal setting, self observation and self esteem) affected teachers' efficacy. And directors' human oriented leadership and teachers' self leadership (self punishment and self-goal setting) affected teachers' personal efficacy.
