FE Analysis on the Strength Safety of a Full Containment LNG Storage Tank System with Damping Safety Structures (댐핑안전 구조물을 고려한 완전밀페식 LNG 저장탱크 시스템의 강도안전성에 관한 유한요소해석)

  • This paper presents the finite element analysis on the strength safety of a full containment LNG storage tank system with damping safety structures. For the FEM analysis of the inner tank, the combined loads in which are related to a hydrostatic pressure, a cryogenic temperature load, BOG pressure, LNG weight, and a sinking force at the comer of the inner tank have been applied to the inner tank structure. The FEM computed results show that the conventional inner tank is safe for the given combined loads, but the damping safety structure such as compressive springs may be more useful structures to increase the safety of the tank system. The increased stiffness and the appropriate position of the springs are very important design parameters for increasing the damping strength safety of the tank system.

Sprinkler Layout Optimization Based on Fire Simulation and Mathematical Programming including Installation and Damage Costs (설치비와 피해액의 정형화를 통한 화재 시뮬레이션 및 수리계획법에 기반을 한 스프링클러의 배치 최적화)

  • The sprinkler system is regarded as the most effective fire extinguishing system. In this study, we proposed a sprinkler layout optimization framework based on fire simulation and mathematical programming. As a case study, the target space in the form of ordinary residence was set up with the size of $5.2m(L){\times}5.4m(W){\times}2.4m(H)$, and we constructed the fire scenario that polyurethane couch was ignited through carelessness. And we simulated and analyzed fire speed, temperature change and heat release rate according to the type and number of sprinklers installed. Through the formulation of installation and damage costs depending on sprinklers, the sprinkler layout showing optimal performance was resulted from mathematical programming.

  • 본 연구는 화재로부터 인명과 재산을 보호하기 위한 자동 소화 시스템으로서 마이컴을 사용하여 고신뢰성, 고정밀도, DIGITAL화를 추구하는 시스템을 개발 하였다. 기존의 소화 방제 시스템들은 스프링클러를 사용하여 물로 화재를 진압하고 있으며 이러한 시스템은 비용이 많이 들고 대량의 물을 사용하고 있기 때문에 수손피해($80{\sim}120{\ell}/min$)가 있고 대용량 펌프 및 $47,000{\ell}$의 저장시설이 필요하다. 이러한 문제점을 해결하기 위하여 본 시스템은 이산화탄소($CO_2$ 가스나 하론1301 가스 또는 질소 가스를 분사하여 대기 중의 산소를 희석시키거나 질소의 양을 증가시키는 방법으로 화재를 진압하는 시스템을 개발 하였다. 개발된 시스템은 고가의 장비 즉, 전산실, 통신기기실, 전기실, 발전기실, 케이블실, 제어실, 필름 보관실 등에 사용되어 장비를 보호하고 인명의 피해를 최소화하는데 사용될 것 있다.

A Study on Swaging Characteristics of Band for Low Pressure Hose (저압 호스용 밴드의 체결특성에 관한 연구)

  • Hose bands, which are used in LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas) or LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) facilities for home use to join low pressure hoses with fuse-cocks (or regulators), should give a tight connection to prevent a gas leakage from hose connection parts. In this paper, hydraulic pressure tests and pull force tests were carried out to evaluate the performance and swaging length of hose bands. Experimental results showed that the swaging force of ear type bands were higher than those of spring bands and also showed that the optimal swaging length was about 1${\~}$2 mm from the hose end.

  • 고전압 가스 차단기에서는 긴 스트로크 동안 가스반발력을 극복하고 빠르게 차단할 수 있는 액추에이터가 필요하다 기존에는 공압식, 유압식, 스프링 액추에이터와 같은 기계적인 장치가 사용되었다. 그러나 기존 액추에이터에서는 소음, 에너지 손실, 고가적의 단점이 있어, 근래에 들어 PMA, 모터와 같은 전기적 장치도 사용되고 있다. 전기 액추에이터는 간단한 구조로 되어 있어 기계적 손실을 줄일 수 있고 소음이 적은 장점이 있다. 전자석 조작기의 연구 필요성에 따라 새로운 형태의 전자석 조작기 Electro Magnetic Force driving Actuator(EMFA)가 개발되어 고전압 가스 차단기에 적합하다고 분석되었다. EMFA의 동특성을 얻기 위한 과도상태 해석에서는 2차원 유한요소법을 이용하여 얻은 전자기적 해석을 회로, 운동방정식과 연계하여 시간차분법을 사용하여 해석하였다. 하지만 2차원과 3차원의 전자기 해석은 차이를 보인다는 것을 확인하였고 정확한 전자기 해석을 위해 3차원 동특성 해석을 수행하여 실험결과와 비교하였다.

  • The analysis and experimental results for the bellows of gasgenerator liquid oxygen shut-off valve are presented. The analyses are performed using EJMA (Expansion Joint Manufacturing Association) standard and the commercial FE (finite element) analysis program, Abaqus v6.9, at room and cryogenic temperatures. The results include the spring rate, the stress and the fatigue life of the bellows. The effects of the contact and material plasticity on the FE analysis results are also analyzed.

  • According to the forming or bending deformation in the press die, the thin plate occurs a work-hardening, the sheet hardening and cam unit's deformation causes incomplete forming during the cam molding process by the reacting spring forces. This study treated the input parameters of the stress and strain as given properties and also used Cam forming pressure considering the sheet hardening in the forming process of the aluminum sheet. The Hyperstudy are operated be linked with the Abaqus of the finite element analysis tool and the shape of Cam were carried out with non-linear shape optimization analysis. As a result removing the deformation of plate, the cam shape were optimized under conditions reduced deformation, having a minimum stress range and the minimum deformation. Therefore, a stress-strain curve and a normal distribution of stress-thickness can be obtained and optimization could be obtained for the shape of the stress and strain on the die plate hardened cam considering the thickness and reaction force of gas spring as iteration process.

Design of a Height Adjustable Bunker Bed Using a Gas Spring (가스 스프링을 이용한 높이조절 벙커침대 설계)

  • A bunker bed is a type of furniture that efficiently utilizes a narrow indoor space by having a high bed and using the empty space below as a living and storage space. The demand for multi-purpose furniture is increasing due to the recent increase in single-person households and wide-spread shared accommodation. According to the consumer research, one of the major drawbacks of a bunker bed was to get on and off the bed through a ladder or stairs. In order to overcome these problems, it was confirmed that the height adjustment function that can easily adjust the minimum and maximum heights of the bed was necessary. In this study, a height adjustable bunker bed was designed by using a gas spring that generates a repulsive force by the compressed gas inside. The design process consisted of the following three steps: Firstly, the hysteresis characteristics due to a friction and spring constant of a commercial gas spring were confirmed by measuring the repulsive force vs. compressed displacement. Secondly, requirements of the vertical lifting force exerted on the bed against gravity force were derived. Finally, the height-adjustable bed using the four-bar link mechanism was designed with 4 parameters so that the bed weight of 60-70 kgf could be adjusted to 800 mm in height by an affordable initial operation force. The performance was verified through prototype production and the results of vertical displacement and force to move were nearly the same as designed. In addition, an electrically operated height-adjustable bed was also designed with linear actuators and the performance was proved with the prototype.

The Effect of Exhaust Performance by according to Active Muffler Valve Spring (능동형 소음기의 밸브 스프링이 배기 성능에 미치는 영향)

  • This study represents effect of exhaust performance by according to active muffler valve spring. The experimental parameter were divided engine speed and torsion coil spring constant. The sound pressure level was generally low at engine speed 2000-2500rpm but That was showed the lowest at spring constant k=0.75. Flow speed of exhaust gas was showed the fast at spring constant k=0.75 but the low value was showed at k=0.97. It was contained a rather low concentration of carbon monoxide(CO) at engine speed 2000-2500rpm and k=0.81, low concentration of hydrocarbon(HC) at spring constant k=0.81 but that was high at spring constant k=0.97. A conclusion based on FFT analysis was generally low concentration value at k=0.79 and k=0.81. The temperature distributions into the muffler was shown similar conditions. Heat transfer was well spreaded at thermocouple No.8 because valve was opened.
