The change of consumers' lifestyles causes frequent study on beds along with growth of economy, improvement of education and increase of dwelling in new towns and nuclear family. Beds are frequently developed in recent years since consumers' lifestyles increasingly change caused by transformation of types of dwelling, influence of western lifestyle, and increase uses of a bed. Also, this transformation causes needs for research on bed designs. A Bed is an essential item in a life since people spend one third of a day in Also, in contemporary, the ages of consumers are varied from infants to seniors. The study examines the importance of beds which playa major role in households. Moreover, the purpose of this study of beds focused on surface materials, colors, and designs is suggesting bases for future developments.

Most of all furniture had been produced from wood, because it is easy to obtain from our surroundings. As time goes by people want to decorate their house with new material furniture. Because it is outcome from development of material technology & industrialization. Furniture design trends of twenty century are not only the fruits of great talented furniture artists but also high-tech material engineers. In this study, I deal with a tubular steel, as an one of the most important material of furniture, and also tubular steel furniture manufactured by a cantilever method. This study researches what are special features of it, how can designers utilize it to furniture and how do they conquest defects of the material such as a sensation of coldness, hardness and so on. In this context, It is possible that create not only new shape of furniture but also new style of space through new technology innovation.

furniture reflects historical, cultural, spatial background of human life style. This means that we cannot think of a furniture apart from the living environment. This study is focused on the process of furniture design in residential interiors. Furniture design process devided into the theoretical research the formal design process. Basically theoretical background contains human activities in place, antropometric data, requisite furniture type according to activities and some guidelines for design. And the formal design process is consisted of visual main concept, series of sketches and the development of alternatives of design. Thus, the theoretical background need to be applied to the steps of sketches, and for the harmonious interiors systematically.

While furniture making in general has been traditionally regarded as labor-intensive industry, the making of metal furniture has immense potential in terms of its growth and as a value added industry. Granted that the technology and designing of metal furniture in Korea are still behind the standards enjoyed by the developed nations of the world, still its future here is promising when we consider the comparatively short history of its industry, Korea depends on imports from abroad for almost all the natural resources she needs for industry. Metal (especially iron) industry is, however, one field where she has some advantage over other nations. Korea is a major producer of iron and her technology in this field is competitive in the international market. When viewed from the points of environment and ecology metal furniture has good points, as metals are recyclable when they are discarded and collected properly according to their reusability. This adds to the merits its industry has here as this country, with her limited natural resources, has yet to solve the pressing problem of disposing ever-increasing waste matter from homes and factories.

The purpose of this study is to examine the characteristics of Arne Jacobsen's chair design. He was one of the few creators who inscribed his name in both the history of architecture and furniture design. His works reflected a form of "Regional Modernism" in which traditional techniques collide with functionalist beliefs. This grafting of ideas generated a person aesthetics which he used to establish a suitability of scale, detail an program for each design. In the material aspect, he had enjoyed using the plasticity of the plywood, polyurethane, tubular steel and in the formative aspect, organic form is combined with minimalization of material and simplicity. To sum up what is unique about Arne Jacobsen's chair design, it is that it is distinguished by a clear understanding and expression of beauty from nature, a complete understanding of the material used and the melding of traditional and functional techniques to generate organic form.anic form.

Even though housing industry has greatly developed through last 4 decades, its main progress only appeared in quantity not quality. To promote housing industry in more sound way and to enhance peoples' life quality through the better housing environment housing plan should be based on living items such as furniture, appliances and etc. Not enough research has been done to find out living items for better furniture & house plan development. This study attempted to find out furniture pattern which people own in their bedrooms and livingrooms. An indept questionnaire survey of 600 households were carried during the year 2000. A variety of furniture pattern were found which indicated not uniform living items within a very similar uniform multifamily apartment complex, indicating of their living. The result of this study will be helpful to develop new concept furniture and also to suggest new space dimension for Apartment plan.

This research is to provide basic information for future development of an effective way for design office furniture. The purpose of this study is to provide foundation data that enable to design various office furniture. This article investigates what are the basic elements of office furniture and how various type of office furniture elements represent in many catalogues, articles. It was to understand what parts of office furniture elements influence when design the office furniture. Based on the research, conclusion was made as following: Through the 11 brands, it is found that rectangular-closed desk and tall closest is dominant in domestic brand whereas both open and closed desks are used in overseas brand and the closet design is changed based on the desk type.

This study focused on designing environment-friendly furnitures by recycling useless stuffs. I designed environment-friendly furnitures by using plastic manekings, which do not decay easily. Designing environment-friendly furnitures by using maneking, we should consider the following; to make our surrounding comfortable and pleasant, to make the appearance of the streets more beautiful, and to consider our future environment. We need to use reusable and recyclable wastes much more to make environment-friendly furnitures from now on.

The purpose of the study is to explore the possibilities for translating the images and meaning of Chinese characters into furniture. Using Chinese characters as designing sources for furniture has a lot of possibilities to inspire originative and creative works. When using images of characters, totally peculiar and new shapes of furniture which have great esthetic value can be considered. The functions of furniture are related to the meanings of characters. Therefore, the furniture could be recognized by the characters from which the works were formed. In the process of interpreting two dimensional letters in three dimensional forms, the graphic elements and values of the characters as two dimensional objects should be analyzed. In order to express the characters completely, both esthetic shapes and the essences of characters should be blended. For the effective translating work, the method of expression may require exaggerating, simplifying and abbreviating the shapes of characters.

현대 사회는 1인가구가 급속도로 증가하고 있으며, 1인 가구의 대부분은 20-30대 청년들의 비중이 높다. 그에 비해 청년주거의 주거 빈곤율이 높게 나타나고 있으며, 그에 따른 합리적인 공급가격으로 셰어하우스에 대한 청년들의 관심이 증가하고 있다. 본 연구는 1인 청년 가구 중 셰어하우스 사례를 대상으로 하며, 청년들의 셰어하우스 생활에 적합한 공간의 디자인 방향성을 도출하는데 그 목적이 있다. 본 연구는 다음과 같이 진행하였다. 첫째, 문헌조사와 정보 수집을 통해 셰어하우스의 개념과 특성 등을 이론 고찰하였다. 둘째, 국내의 청년 대상으로 셰어하우스 사례들을 조사하였다. 셋째, 셰어하우스 사례들을 특성에 따라 유형을 분류하고 유형별로 분석하였다. 연구 결과에 따르면 셰어하우스에 대한 관심은 점차 높아지고 있으며, 특히 개인 주거공간과 커뮤니티 공간이 결합된 셰어하우스의 형태를 볼 수 있었다.
