1980년대 이후 스웨덴 가구디자인의 특성에 관한 연구 - 동시대 디자인 패러다임 변화와 관련하여 - (A Study on the Characteristics of the Swedish Furniture Design since 1980s - In Reference to Changes of Contemporary Design Paradigms -)

  • This article aimed at understanding the characteristics of Swedish furniture design since 1980s in the reference to the major paradigm changes in the contemporary design field. For this, the authors examined the theoretical background of modern and post-modern design paradigms to identify today's design tendencies. And we used this frame in the analysis of the latest examples of Swedish furniture design. The main characteristics of Swedish furniture design since 1980s included 'furniture as art object', 'the succession of the Swedish Modern (neo-modernism)', and 'conscious design for sustainable development'. These could be viewed as the consequences of the choices that the Swedish furniture industry and designers made during the last decade, that was to take plurality and contradiction as the accompanying values of the traditional Swedish modern design.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the furniture use pattern and needs for built-in furniture of apartment residents. The subjects were 289 housewives who live in apartment houses in Haeundae, Busan. The size of apartments was 60 $m^2$ or 85 $m^2$.The self-administered questionnaire was used. There was no any furniture pattern which can be categorized as the specific one. That is, each family has different kinds of furniture pattern in living room and master bedroom. Also, some subjects wanted to have builted-in furniture in master bedroom.

  • Most of all furniture had been produced from wood, because it is easy to obtain from our surroundings. As time goes by people want to decorate their house with new material furniture. Because it is outcome from development of material technology & industrialization. Furniture design trends of twenty century are not only the fruits of great talented furniture artists but also high-tech material engineers. In this study, I deal with a tubular steel, as an one of the most important material of furniture, and also tubular steel furniture manufactured by a cantilever method. This study researches what are special features of it, how can designers utilize it to furniture and how do they conquest defects of the material such as a sensation of coldness, hardness and so on. In this context, It is possible that create not only new shape of furniture but also new style of space through new technology innovation.

체코 큐비즘 가구디자인에 나타난 표현특성에 관한 연구 - 회화, 공예, 건축과의 상호연관성을 중심으로 - (A Study on the Expressive Characteristics of Czech Cubism's furniture Design - chiefly focusing on mutual relationship with Czech Cubism's painting, craft, and architecture)

  • Cubism is a style that led the way to proclaim a new era of 20th century's art and contemporarily had an influence on several trends of thoughts. Geographically it formed Czech Cubism exerting an effect upon thoughts and plastic art of the progressive art group which showed activity around Prague, Czech in 1911, later for 10 years, it was developed as an unique form of which origin cannot be traced inside and outside Europe and expressed its own plastic art world in craft, furniture, painting, architecture, etc. The object of this study is to pull out the expressive characteristics showed especially in furniture design among Czech Cubism around interrelationship with painting, craft and architecture. The scope of study is to bring out the characteristics about the examples which 7 designers such as Josef Gocar, Pavel Janak, etc., who were representative designers of furniture design of Czech Cubism for 15 years from 1910 to 1925. The method of study is to investigate the origin of Czech Cubism by means of primitive elements of Africa, traces of Islamic architectures, and Czech traditional architectural motive, and the development process of Czech Cubism was arranged around the artist and exhibitions which led this current. After being synthesized the characteristics showed in painting, craft, architecture of Czech Cubism on the basis of the result of this study, the expressive characteristics of furniture design of Czech Cubism were brought out. As a result, the expressive characteristics of furniture design of Czech cubism are indicated in a large way as follow; 1) symbolic characteristic based on primitive plastic art, 2) dynamic characteristic by dividing form, 3) ethnic decorative characteristic combined with national motive. The significance of furniture design of Czech Cubism is not only to accept positively and digest the progressive trend of modern art, that is to say, Paris Cubism but also to succeed in recreate it in its own national style, to play a role to offer another motive to post modern design development at the end of 20th century and by means of these examples to provide the necessity and the base of more profound study in the future.

  • Metal furniture design in this study from the 1960s to the present period of office space by Metal furniture design Metal furniture for social factors in the development. In other words, social and economic characteristics, and the country's formative characterize metal office furniture design characteristics and the development of culture is to provide an opportunity to understand. The scope of this study, including the development of office automation in the 1960s, causing a drastic change in the world at the time of furniture developed in Germany, Italy, the United States, Japan, and examine each country's furniture and metal furniture from the 1960s to the present design trends in office organize, and research methods literature and various data classification by age and by extracting the key trends are established form. The results of this study and the design tends to obscure the distinction between two different aspects of the design appear rarely common or different forms of expression are characterized by two. This furniture range has expanded to use metal and metal to minimize the negative aspects of a conventional flexible image is designed to suit the tastes of modern design and metal furniture design, interior space, except that now it is considered that the most can be identified.

거실수납가구의 디자인 특성 분석 (A Study on Design Charateristic of Living Room Storage Furniture)

  • The purpose of this study is to develop living room storage furniture with multiple functions and for analyzing living room system furniture that can correspond with lifestyles in the living room. Literature survey was used by collecting data on interior design books and magazines. System furniture is very functional depending on the purpose and spaces, and can be modified effectively with the development of design based on the resident's demand. Living room furniture was mostly arranged by two types. One was lower and slimmer in order to use the space effectively, the other totally occupied one side of the living room wall. Furniture combined with multiple functions of lights and electronics can increase the satisfaction and convenience of users. And furniture maximizes storage space and is systemized so that mixture and arrangement are diversified. Flexible and active way furniture that accept various electronic fixtures and performances in the living room. Furniture forms, materials, and colors will be designed for the functions and atmosphere of living rooms. This results will contribute to develop furniture that has additional features such as lighting and electronic appliances hereafter.

존 파우슨(John Pawson)의 가구 디자인 특성 연구 (A Study on the Characteristic of Furniture Design of John Pawson)

  • Furniture has been developed in pursuit of human convenience and comfort, but nowadays it does not consider human users and gradually loses the essence of furniture. Especially furniture design that disregards the relation with space loses both the meaning and purpose of furniture. In this regards, it is necessary to understand the essence of furniture design and establish a design direction for future progress. Based on the relation between furniture and space, this paper intended to study on John Pawson's works that pursued the essence of design focusing on users, and propose a direction in a sense of real meaning for modern furniture design after exploring the characteristic of the furniture design of John Pawson. The study method of this paper was to investigate the design language of John Pawson and analyze his furniture in the morphological structural, functional, and material aspects. Based on such analysis, this study investigated the characteristics of the furniture design and found out what the core of the design that he pursued was. The scope of the study included the Independent Furniture that was restricted furniture collections of Driade and Spatial Furniture designed and installed at the stage of space construction. The study result showed that the design of John Pawson considered 'the suitability to a specific place' as important factor and furniture was planned at the stage of planning space. Each independent furniture defines all spaces in the morphological, lay-out and functional aspects of furniture and emphasizes their own property. As Spatial Furniture shares the function of spatial composition element, Pawson's furniture can be all called Spatial Furniture.

AHP-TOPSIS 방법에 기초한 부모-자식 인터랙티브 게임 가구의 설계 평가 (Design Evaluation of Parent-child Interactive Game Furniture Based on AHP-TOPSIS Method)

  • 부모-자식 인터랙티브 게임 가구에 기초한 설계지표의 연구는 설계사들이 관련 상품의 설계의 장단점을 정량적으로 분석할 수 있게 하여 설계의 질을 관리하고 향상하는데 긍정적인 도움이 된다. 본 연구에서는 AHP와 TOPSIS를 결합하여 3가지 설계기준과 26가지 설계지수의 평가모델을 제안하였다. 각 지표에 대한 전문가들의 채점, 계산 및 일관성 테스트를 거쳐 각 설계지표의 가중치를 얻어낸 다음 각 지표의 중요정도에 따라 지표분류를 진행하였다. 분류결과 설계지표들을 8개의 중요지표와 11개의 보조지표, 7개의 일반지표로 분류하였다. 사례 연구에서는 TOPIS를 이용하였다. 세 종의 부모-자식 등반 게임 가구의 디자인 표본을 분석해 본 결과 세 표본의 상대 근접도는 최종적으로 각각 0.505, 0281 및 0.640 이였다. 연구를 통하여 AHP-TOPSIS 방법이 설계방안의 장단점을 과학적으로 효과적으로 분류 및 선별하고 관련 제품의 연구 및 개발에 참고를 제공할 수 있는 아주 유용한 방법이라는 것이 밝혀졌다.

가에타노 페세의 디자인에서 나타나는 비재현성에 관한 연구 (A Study on Non-Representational Characteristics that Appears in the Design of Gaetano Pesce)

  • Since the 1960's, diverse movements that oppose the uniform design tendency of modernism appears in Italy. Especially, Gaetano Pesce, who opposed uniformity and standardization that are based on mass production system, had interests in making unique product, not an identical product, while accepting modern production technology. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to comprehend Pesce's design, which creates diversity by arranging contingent, non-predictive, and episodic aspects in creative and acceptance processes according to the intension of the designer within mass production system, as a non-representational characteristic, which appears widely in modern thought and the arts, and examine how it is materialized in detailed design work. The study methods are first examining non-representation with theoretical contemplation and dealing with the design philosophy of Pesce based on the examination. Next, in order to discover non-representational characteristics that appear in the work of Pesce, it examines from introducing worker's creativity, user's possibility of choice, openness in the working process, and the aspects of researching materials. And a specific application method will be drawn through case analysis centered on furniture design. Gaetano Pesce's design that denies the world of representation based on the sameness comes to possess non-representational characteristics that acknowledge contingency and ceaselessly create difference by intentionally arranging during the working process.
