A Study on the Consumption Patterns of Poor Households (빈곤계층의 소비패턴에 관한 연구 : 2007년과 2008년의 변화 비교)

  • This study analyzes the consumption patterns of the poor households. The first objective of this analysis is to show that the group living in poverty get not one consumption pattern but several types of consumption patterns. The second objective is to understand what factors effect the consumption patterns. This study use the data of Korea Welfare Panel Study in 2008 & 2009. In oder to achieve first goal, We conduct factor analysis and cluster analysis. And to achieve second goal, We conduct multinomial logistic Analysis. Major findings are as follows. First we find six patterns of consuming types of the poor households. They are education oriented consuming type, diet oriented type, social network oriented type, transportation-communication oriented type, health & medical oriented type, and housing expenditure oriented type. Second we find these consumption patterns are effected by not economic factors but socio-populational factors, especially by life cycle of members of household.

  • As the residential culture of Korea is transformed from house oriented to apartment oriented residential environment these days, the bedroom closets are changing into the built-in furniture such as built-in closets. As the life style of consumers become richer and wealthy, the bedroom furniture is changing to respond for the forms, function, and design characteristics of the consumer's demand. Therefore, in this study, the characteristics of the built-in closets such as structure, function and material were studied to analyze the basic changes and compared the normal closet to the built-in closet to analyze the elements in terms of environment and convenience. Moreover, to develop forms and designs to fit various characteristics and differences of the consumers, various forms of consumer demand were analyzed. Therefore, this study intended to provide the basic information for providing the efficient form and structure that enables the use of internal space as the consumer wishes to change the design elements, and other spaces to fit the changed residential environment.

Travel Demand and Transportation Cost of Household According to Accessibility to Public Transport and to Service Facilities (대중교통시설과 근린시설의 접근도에 따른 교통이용행태 및 교통비용)

  • The costs of owning car are accepted as a subscription fee for participating in car-oriented society and only direct out-of-pocket costs of driving are mostly considered, so that the efficient location with better accessibility to service facilities is often under-appreciated. The purpose of this study is to explore the impact of accessibility to public transport and other service facilities on travel demand and transportation cost of household. The residential areas in Hamburg are categorized into 8 types according to level of public transport and other service facilities. The costs of owning and operating car in each residential area are calculated on the base of the household automobile ownership and usage analysed through the actual survey The result of this analysis shows that the transportation cost of household is decreased In proportion to the level of Public transport and other service facilities. This analysis finds the structure of residential area, which economize energy consume and makes household actual transportation cost saying Possible. The result of the analysis can be used as a tool for influencing home locaion choice towards Public transportaion corridors.

A Study on the Block Structure of the Land Readjustment Project Districts Focused on the case study of Cheongju City in the 1970's (토지구획정리사업지구의 가구(街區)체계에 관한 연구 -1970년대 청주시 사례를 중심으로-)

  • This study examined the characteristics of a district through the concept of a block system in the physical aspect of the four land readjustment project districts of Cheongju City in the 1970s. The results of this study are as follows. First, the local road system for accessing the main road network and blocks was well established compared with the current urban development standards. On the other hand, since the access roads to the individual lots in the block were not equipped properly, it was difficult to improve a house. Second, according to the characteristics of the block, the Aspect Ratio of blocks was 1: 2 on average and most of those directions was east-west. The area of block from the 1st to 3rd districts was increasing, but districts 4 were decreasing. This also was changed to the shape of a contemporary block system. The larger the size of the block area, the lower the Jeobdoyul. Third, in terms of the characteristics of the lot array, blocks with a multi-row system of $4{\times}4$ or more were lots up to the 1st to 3rd district, but 4th district was improved greatly. Because blocks close a square shape have become excessively poor with Jeobdoyul, it was judged that it is difficult to improve the residential environment. Moreover, as the type of the residential development by the land readjustment project is standardized considerably and this type of land area is extensive, it can be an alternative to control the urban sprawl of suburbs if it finds the way to improve this type of the residential area considering this characteristic.

Geographical Discrepancies in Residential Outcomes and Housing Expenditure of Young Married Couples in Chonsei Housing (전세 거주 청년 부부가구의 지역 간 거주환경과 주거비 차이)

  • This research aims to investigate the socio-demographic, financial, and housing statuses of young married couples in Chonsei housing and to analyze the determinants of their residential environment quality and housing expenditure in four districts - Seoul and Gyeonggi-Incheon Area(GIA) of the Seoul Metropolitan Area(SMA), and metropolises and non-metropolises of non-SMA. From the 2020 Korean Housing Survey(KHS), this cross-sectional analysis examined a sample of 691 households, and the findings revealed that most were headed by college-educated, salaried male workers aged 31 years old. While childless dual-earner couples were common in Seoul, single-income families of three were prevalent in non-SMA. The financial status of the couples in Seoul was a lot better than in the other three areas, particularly much higher in Chonsei deposit and total asset value. Further, many lived in a three-bedroom apartment unit sized 60m2 and bigger, using a Chonsei loan. Regardless of areas, almost all the households spent a very low portion of their living expenses and income on housing costs. However, dual-earner families positively increased borrowing capacity, which improves the household's financial position that is likely to lead to equity increment in a volatile asset market in the long run. The statistical results indicated that residential environment assessment was influenced by neighborhood quality and housing expenditure was affected by housing size in Seoul, urban amenities in GIA and householder's gender in non-metropolises. Thus, this research proposes that strong measures be considered to mitigate housing inequality embedded in geographical and socio-economic disparities.

A Study on Customized Smart Fire and Security System for one person household (1인 가구를 위한 맞춤형 스마트 화재 및 방범 시스템에 대한 연구)

  • This paper introduces a customized Smart Fire and Crime system for one person households. Recently, the number of one person household has skyrocketed due to the increasing number of one person household and the aging population. As a result, the demand for private security companies for one person household is increasing and smart security systems that are applied with rapidly evolving IoT and sensor technologies are also becoming a major issue. However, despite the increasing trend of one person households, the existing system focuses on multiple households, so that there are disadvantages of the one person households to operate in such a big system which operate separately. Therefore, in this paper, we design and implement a system that provides a personalized safety service for one person household that integrates a security system and a fire monitoring system. This will help prevent criminal activity in places where the police can not reach at a lower cost than using existing private companies, and help monitor the situation of the houses in real time.

Analysis of Prework Trip-Making and Modal Choice (통근통행 이전의 비통근통행 발생여부와 교통수단 선택행태 분석)

  • 본 연구에서는 지금가지 통근통행자의 활동참여 분석(activity Participation analysis)이 주로 일과후 활동참여(postwork activity participation)에 초점이 주어졌다는 점을 감안하여 일과전 활동참여(preworkactivity Participation)를 분석하고자 하였다. 이러한 연구배경하에서 본 연구는 통근통행자의 통근통행 이전의 비 통근통행 발생여부와 교통수단 선택의 행태를 네스티드 로짓모형을 이용하여 분석하였다. 본 연구는 모형의 경험적 추정을 위해 1995년 미국 Nationwide Personal Transportation Survey (NPTS)의 일부분으로 수집된 뉴욕 대도시지역의 설문조사자료를 이용하였으며, 추정된 경험적 모형을 바탕으로 의미 있는 결과를 논의하였다. 본 연구에서 추정된 통근통행 이전의 비 통근통행 발생여부와 교통수단 선택의 네스티드 로짓모형은 통계적 측면이나 행태적 측면에서 볼 때 대체로 타당한 분석결과를 보여준다. 교통수단 선택모형(조건부 모형)의 추정결과를 보면 나이, 운전면허 소지여부, 가구내 차량보유대수, 가구내 직장인수, 연간 가구소득, 교통수단의 통행시간이 통근통행자의 교통수단 선택에 의미 있는 영향을 미치는 것으로 확인되었다. 한편 통근통행 이전의 비통근통행 발생여부 선택모형(한계모형)의 추정결과를 보면 나이 성별, 가구내 차량보유대수, 가구의 생애주기가 통근통행자의 비 통근통행 발생여부에 의미 있는 영향을 미치는 것으로 확인되었다. 본 연구로부터의 중요한 발견은 추정된 네스티드 로짓모형의 inclusive value의 추정계수값을 살펴봄으로써 가능한데, 모형의 경험적 추정결과는 본 연구에서 가설화된 네스티드 로짓모형구조의 타당성을 입증시켜 준다. 아울러 직장인의 교통수단 선택은 통근통행 이전의 비 통근통행 발생여부의 선택과 밀접한 관련을 가지면서 이루어진다는 사실을 확인할 수 있었다.

The politic plan research for furniture industrial activation in the northern part of Gyeonggi-Province

  • In line with the government's policies for localization, furniture industry in the northern area in Gyeoggi-province at presence has been operated by several furniture industrial complexes in the region in small scale, but now it should be considered from overall view of furniture industry in order to develop more competitive industry. As a matter of this fact, Gyeonggi-province should be engaged in planning to make various industrial clusters of the furniture-related industry based on the northern area of province at structural as well as politic aspects, with the help of the analyzed status of the current furniture industry in region, in supporting them by the systemized policies and developing the overall program to foster furniture as an international-competitive industry. Therefore this study suggested 'furniture industry center' which will exclusively handle and maintain the network of each furniture company in the northern area of Gyeonggi-province and 'high-tech furniture industry complex' to keep pace with the globalization and to be competitive internationally and also 'common brand business' for the cooperation at technical phase. In order to realize and vitalize such suggestions, it is urgently necessary that the network consists of the furniture companies and the expert of the related department in local universities as the main body for furniture industry, of course Gyeonggi-province as well.

Spatio-Temporal Changes and Characteristics of Households Failing to Meet the New Minimum Housing Standard in Seoul Metropolitan(1995~2010) (서울시 최저주거기준 미달가구의 시.공간적 특성과 변화(1995~2010년))

  • Minimum Housing Standard is an instrument to cope with the problems of public health and community hygiene, deterioration of working class housing conditions appeared commonly in the process of capitalist industrialization and rapid rural-to-urban migration. This paper aims to examine the institutionalization of histories of minimum housing standard in the advanced countries, and analyze the spatio-temporal changes and characteristics of households failing to meet the New Minimum Housing Standard in Seoul Metropolitan since 1995. The analysis of this paper is based on the census data on population and housing. The results are as follows; Households failing to meet the New Minimum Housing Standard in Seoul are 501,000 households(1.368 million person, 14.4%). This means Seoul has overtaken the national average 11.8% for the first time and there are structurally marginal band of households who can not improve the housing conditions by themselves. In addition, the fact that the rate of Seoul households living in the marginal shelter including the basement and rooftop room is the highest in Korea means the housing quality issues of Seoul is serious. Spatial distribution of households failing to meet the standard is divided into the northeast area and the southwest area in Seoul. Main features of the households are female-headed families, middle and old-aged people, divorce families, lower educated people, under and graduate students, non-apartments, dweller in 15~20 year old houses.
