  • In this paper, Polarity Thresholding(PT) algorithm has been studied to enhance the received signal in ultrasonic inspection of the stainless-steel(SUS 304) which is the primary piping material of a nuclear power plant. The spectral decomposition components obtained by splitting the spectrum of received signals are composed of dispersive signal of the interference pattern produced by the grain boundaries and nondispersive signal by the flaw. PT algorithm enhance the SNR of received signal by using above properties. In experiment the stainless-steel has been chosen as the sample and heat-treated at 1125, 1150, 1175, and $1200^\circ{C}$, respectively. And the flat-bottom hole type defects have been made artificially in samples. The pulse-echo signals from the sample by using ultrasonic transducer of center frequency 5 MHz have been processed by PT algorithm. It has been shown that PT algorithm enhanced the SNR by average 14.2 dB.

  • HDF5 data format is used to effectively store and distribute large volume of Geostationary Ocean Color Imager(GOCI) satellite data. The Korea Ocean Satellite Center has developed and provided a GOCI Data Processing System(GDPS) for general users who are not familiar with HDF5 format. Nevertheless, it is not easy to merge and process Hierarchical Data Format version5(HDF5) data that requires an understanding of satellite data characteristics, needs to learn how to use GDPS, and stores location and attribute information separately. Therefore, the open source R and rhdf5, data.table, and matrixStats packages were used to develop algorithm that could easily utilize satellite data in HDF5 format without the need for the process of using GDPS.

  • The electrical properties of a back drilled via-hole (BDH) without the open-stub and the plated through via-hole (PTH) with the open-stub, which is called the conventional structure, in a high-count multi~layered (HCML) printed circuit board (PCB) were investigated for a high-speed digital system, and a selected inner layer to transmit a high-speed signal was farthest away from the side to mount the component. Within 10 GHz of the broadband frequency, a design of experiment (DOE) methodology was carried out with three cause factors of each via-hole structure, which were the distance between the via-holes, the dimensions of drilling pad and the anti-pad in the ground plane, and then the relation between cause and result factors which were the maximum return loss, the half-power frequency, and the minimum insertion loss was analyzed. Subsequently, the empirical formulae resulting in a macro model were extracted and compared with the experiment results. Even, out of the cause range, the calculated results obtained from the macro model can be also matched with the measured results within 5 % of the error.

  • Complex warpage behavior of the electronic packages causes internal stress so many kinds of mechanical failure occur such as delamination or crack. Efforts to predict the warpage behavior accurately in order to prevent the decrease in yield have been approached from various aspects. For warpage prediction, silicon is generally treated as a homogeneous material, therefore it is described as showing no warpage behavior due to thermal loading. However, it was reported that warpage is actually caused by residual stress accumulated during grinding and polishing in order to make silicon wafer thinner, which make silicon wafer inhomogeneous through thickness direction. In this paper, warpage behavior of the single-side polished wafer at solder reflow temperature, the highest temperature in packaging processes, was measured using 3D digital image correlation (DIC) method. Mechanism was verified by measuring coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) of both mirror-polished surface and rough surface.

  • Purpose: All ceramic crown, made from zirconia instead of metal for core material, is recognized the best esthetical prosthesis. Recently, high-priced zirconia blocks and expensive CAD/CAM machines come into use for making zirconia core. In this study, slip casting process is adapted to evaluate the possibility of the recycling the remained parts of zirconia block after machining. Methods: Remained zirconia blocks were reduced to powders with zirconia mortar, and screened with 180 mesh sieve. Passed powders were ball milled under various conditions to obtain the optimum zirconia slip for casting. Solid casting method was used for casting the specimens with plaster mold. Formed specimens were dried and biscuit fired at $1,000^{\circ}C$ for 1 hour. Biscuit fired specimens were finished with exact shape of square pillar. Finished specimens were fired from $1,200^{\circ}C$ to $1,550^{\circ}C$ at $50^{\circ}C$ intervals for 1 hour. Linear shrinkage, apparent porosity, water absorption, bulk density, and flexural strength were tested. Microstructures were observed by SEM. Results: Above examinations indicated that the optimum firing temperture was $1,500^{\circ}C$, and when fired at this temperature for 1 hour, apparent porosity was 0% and flexural strength was 680MPa. SEM photomicrographs showed uniform 200~300nm grain size, which is equal with microcture of sintered commercial zirconia block. when compare 24% linear shrinkage of cast specimen with 20% linear shrinkage of CAD/CAM machined block, it was estimated that the size controlling of cast core was not so difficult. Conclusion: According to the all of this experimental results, the cast zirconia core produced from the remained parts of zirconia block was possible to use for all ceramic denture.

  • This study was conducted to investigate the effect of superheated steam (SHS) on the improvement of quality during the manufacturing process of Samgyetang products. SHS cooking showed the increase in moisture content and the decrease in protein. In terms of chromaticity, the value of L was significantly higher in the $2^{nd}$ SHS cooking compared to conventional cooking. As for texture, the hardness decreased in Samgyetang with SHS cooking than conventional cooking. According to the results of the safety experiment with a 14-day refrigerations storage the total number of bacteria was lower in the SHS cooking compared to conventional cooking. The TBA value increased to 0.59-5.70 mg MD/kg after 15 days; VBN values were also 0.70-4.54 mg% in SHS cooking indicating a slight decomposition. Overall, it was found that SHS cooking and HHP were more preferred and also had an effect of reducing microorganisms, which were improvements in product quality and sanitation.

  • The objective of this study was to evaluate the use of fuzzy math strategy to calculate variability and uncertainty in quantitative risk assessment. We compared the propagation of uncertainty using fuzzy math simulation with Monte Carlo simulation. The risk far Listeria monocytogenes contamination was estimated for carcass and processed pork by fuzzy math and Monte Carlo simulations, respectively. The data used in these simulations were taken from a recent report on pork production. In carcass, the mean values for the risk from fuzzy math and Monte Carlo simulations were -4.393 log $CFU/cm^2$ and -4.589 log $CFU/cm^2$, respectively; in processed pork, they were -4.185 log $CFU/cm^2$ and -4.466 log $CFU/cm^2$ respectively. The distribution of values obtained using the fuzzy math simulation included all of the results obtained using the Monte Carlo simulation. Consequently, fuzzy math simulation was found to be a good alternative to Monte Carlo simulation in quantitative risk assessment of pork production.

  • This study was conducted to investigate that bus information was used as an information of travel speed. To determine the travel speed on the road, bus information and the information collected from the point detector and the interval detection installed were compared. If bus information has the function of traffic information detector, can provide the travel speed information to road users. To this end, the model of recognizing the traffic patterns is necessary. This study used simple moving-average method, simple exponential smoothing method, Double moving average method, Double exponential smoothing method, ARIMA(Autoregressive integrated moving average model) as the existing methods rather than new approach methods. This study suggested the possibility to replace bus information system into other information collection system.

  • Plasticized cellulose diacetate(CDA) was prepared by homogenizing cellulose diacetate(CDA), triacetin(TA) and epoxidized soybean oil (ESO) in a high-speed mixer, then the CDA mixture was mixed with ramie fiber to produce a green composite material. In DMA analysis, the glass transition temperature of plasticized CDA and the composite was observed at $85\;^{\circ}C\;and\;140\;^{\circ}C$, respectively. A composite reinforced with alkali treated ramie fiber exhibited significantly higher mechanical properties, such as $15\;^{\circ}C$ increase in tensile strength as well as $41\;^{\circ}C$ increase in Young's modulus when compared with commercial polypropylene. In the SEM image analysis, much enhanced adhesion between plasticized CDA and alkali treated ramie fiber (AIRa) was observed.
