  • 3-Phenyl-5, 6, 7, 8-tetrahydrothiazolo[3, 2-$\alpha$][1, 3]diazepine, which has pharmaceutical activities, was reacted with phenyl isothiocyanate to give 3-phenyl-9-phenyl(thiocarbamoyl)-5, 6, 7, 8-tetrahydrothiazolo[3, 2-$\alpha$][1, 3]diazepi nium-betaine. New biheterocyclic compounds were prepared by the ring transformation reaction of the above reactive betaine with $\alpha$-haloesters and $\alpha$-haloketones such as ethyl bromoacetate, methyl bromoacetate, chloroacetone, and 4'-methoxyphenacyl bromide, respectively. In each ring transformation reaction, two major products supposed to be geometrical isomers were obtained.

  • In this paper, we propose a method for vehicle tracking systems using fuzzy logic. The standard ${\alpha}$-${\beta}$ filter estimates the future target positions using fixed ${\alpha}$,${\beta}$ coefficients. We utilize the if-then fuzzy logic to make ${\alpha}$ and ${\beta}$ coefficients vary with the position. Comparisons are made in tracking vehicles using three different schemes: the standard ${\alpha}$-${\beta}$ filter, ${\alpha}$-${\beta}$ filter using fuzzy logic, and the Kalman filter.

  • For an endomorphism ${\alpha}$ of R, in [1], a module $M_R$ is called ${\alpha}$-compatible if, for any $m{\in}M$ and $a{\in}R$, ma = 0 iff $m{\alpha}(a)$ = 0, which are a generalization of ${\alpha}$-reduced modules. We study on the relationship between the quasi-Baerness and p.q.-Baer property of a module MR and those of the polynomial extensions (including formal skew power series, skew Laurent polynomials and skew Laurent series). As a consequence we obtain a generalization of [2] and some results in [9]. In particular, we show: for an ${\alpha}$-compatible module $M_R$ (1) $M_R$ is p.q.-Baer module iff $M[x;{\alpha}]_{R[x;{\alpha}]}$ is p.q.-Baer module. (2) for an automorphism ${\alpha}$ of R, $M_R$ is p.q.-Baer module iff $M[x,x^{-1};{\alpha}]_{R[x,x^{-1};{\alpha}]}$ is p.q.-Baer module.

  • Let $\Sigma_{$\mid$\alpha$\mid$=m}\;s_{\alpha}z^{\alpha},\;z\;{\in}\;{\mathbb{C}}^n$ be a unimodular m-homogeneous polynomial in n variables (i.e. $$\mid$s_{\alpha}$\mid$\;=\;1$ for all multi indices $\alpha$), and let $R\;{\subset}\;{\mathbb{C}}^n$ be a (bounded complete) Reinhardt domain. We give lower bounds for the maximum modules $sup_{z\;{\in}\;R\;$\mid$\Sigma_{$\mid$\alpha$\mid$=m}\;s_{\alpha}z^{\alpha}$\mid$$, and upper estimates for the average of these maximum moduli taken over all possible m-homogeneous Bernoulli polynomials (i.e. $s_{\alpha}\;=\;{\pm}1$ for all multi indices $\alpha$). Examples show that for a fixed degree m our estimates, for rather large classes of domains R, are asymptotically optimal in the dimension n.

  • Let ${\mathcal{L}}_2=(-{\Delta})^2+V^2$ be the $Schr{\ddot{o}}dinger$ type operator, where nonnegative potential V belongs to the reverse $H{\ddot{o}}lder$ class $RH_s$, s > n/2. In this paper, we consider the operator $T_{{\alpha},{\beta}}=V^{2{\alpha}}{\mathcal{L}}^{-{\beta}}_2$ and its conjugate $T^*_{{\alpha},{\beta}}$, where $0<{\alpha}{\leq}{\beta}{\leq}1$. We establish the $(L^p,\;L^q)$-boundedness of operator $T_{{\alpha},{\beta}}$ and $T^*_{{\alpha},{\beta}}$, respectively, we also show that $T_{{\alpha},{\beta}}$ is bounded from Hardy type space $H^1_{L_2}({\mathbb{R}}^n)$ into $L^{p_2}({\mathbb{R}}^n)$ and $T^*_{{\alpha},{\beta}}$ is bounded from $L^{p_1}({\mathbb{R}}^n)$ into BMO type space $BMO_{{\mathcal{L}}1}({\mathbb{R}}^n)$, where $p_1={\frac{n}{4({\beta}-{\alpha})}}$, $p_2={\frac{n}{n-4({\beta}-{\alpha})}}$.

  • This study was conducted to examine the possibility of improvement effect in Takju mash added with ${\alpha}G-Hesperidine$ on the second stage mash. Alcohol was highly generated in comparison with the control on fermentation time in case of the ${\alpha}G-Hesperidine$ on the second stage mash. Reducing sugar was also highly produced after 2 days on the second stage, and amount of reducing sugar was indicated to be decreased between $4\~6$ days. Total acidity was shown not to be practically changed after 2 days in mash added with ${\alpha}G-Hesperidine$ on the second stage in comparison with the control. Fusel oil produced from mash added with ${\alpha}G-Hesperidine$ was less generated in comparison with the control. Yeast growth on the mash added with ${\alpha}G-Hesperidine$ was revealed to be highly in comparison with the control through fermentation periods. Precipitation velocity of suspension in mash added with ${\alpha}G-Hesperidine$ was shown to be 1.5 times lower than that of the control. Precipitation amount in mash added with ${\alpha}G-Hesperidine$ was not nearly changed on the storage time. The astringency and bitterness were slightly decreased, while on the other turbidity and refreshing were increased in mash added with ${\alpha}G-Hesperidine$. In general overall preferences was indicated to be fully satisfied in mash added with ${\alpha}G-Hesperidine$ in comparison with the control. Nasty smell of Takju added with ${\alpha}G-Hesperidine$ was recognized after 6 days during storage.

  • Purpose : Minimal Change Disease (MCD) is the most common primary nephrotic syndrome in children. Some suggested that tumor necrosis $factor-{\alpha}$ ($TNF-{\alpha}$) are involved in the pathogenesis of MCD. Methods : This study was done to see the changes of plasma and urinary $TNF-{\alpha}$, and its effect on the determination of permeability of the glomerular basement membrane (BM) contributed by heparan sulfate proteoglycan (HSPG). Study patients consisted of 19 biopsy-proven MCD children aged 2-15 years old. Both plasma and urinary $TNF-{\alpha}$ were measured. Employing the Millicell system, $TNF-{\alpha}$ was screened for the permeability factors. We examined whether $TNF-{\alpha}$ regulated BM HSPG gene expression and HS synthesis in the glomerular epithelial cells (GECs). Results : Urinary $TNF-{\alpha}$ during relapse was significantly increased when compared with that of during remission or controls ($364.4{\pm}51.2$ vs $155.3{\pm}20.8,\;36.0{\pm}4.5$ ng/mg cr) (P<0.05). However, negative results were obtained in the permeability assay using the Millicell system. No difference was seen in the BM HSPG gene expression and HS synthesis in the GECs. Conclusion : It seems that $TNF-{\alpha}$ may not play a disease-specific role in the pathogenesis of MCD.

  • Given operators X and Y acting on a separable Hilbert space ${\mathcal{H}}$, an interpolating operator is a bounded operator A such that AX = Y. We show the following: Let ${\mathcal{L}}$ be a subspace lattice acting on a separable complex Hilbert space ${\mathcal{H}}$. and let $X=(x_{ij})$ and $Y=(y_{ij})$ be operators acting on ${\mathcal{H}}$. • In this study, we investigated whether Sargassum yezoense extract (SYE) could inhibit ${\alpha}-glucosidase$ and ${\alpha}-amylase$ activities, and alleviate postprandial hyperglycemia in streptozotocin (STZ)-induced diabetic mice. Freeze-dried S. yezoense was extracted with 80% ethanol and concentrated for use in this study. The hypoglycemic effect was determined by evaluating the inhibitory activities of SYE against ${\alpha}-glucosidase$ and ${\alpha}-amylase$ as well as its ability to decrease postprandial blood glucose levels. The half-maximal inhibitory concentrations of SYE against ${\alpha}-glucosidase$ and ${\alpha}-amylase$ were $0.078{\pm}0.004$ and $0.212{\pm}0.064mg/mL$, respectively. SYE was a more effective inhibitor of ${\alpha}-glucosidase$ and ${\alpha}-amylase$ activities than the positive control, acarbose. The increase in postprandial blood glucose levels was significantly alleviated in the SYE group compared with that in the control group of STZ-induced diabetic mice. Furthermore, the area under the curves significantly decreased with SYE administration in STZ-induced diabetic mice. These results suggest that SYE is a potent inhibitor of ${\alpha}-glucosidase$ and ${\alpha}-amylase$ activities and alleviates postprandial hyperglycemia caused by dietary carbohydrates.
