  • In this study, a $480m^3/day$ pilot device was constructed through laboratory experiments based on the Ministry of Environment manual. The purpose of this study was to analyze the characteristics of CSO treatment and backwashing characteristics by applying the pilot device to the field. The purpose of this study was to acquire the basic data necessary for the design and operation management of the real scale filtration type non-point pollution control system. The filtration was conducted while maintaining the linear velocity of 20m/hour. The CSO treatment efficiencies of the pilot devices were 0.4-76.1%(mean 49.0 %), SS 51.4-91.6%(mean 77.8%), COD 22.2-59.4% (mean 38.3%) and TP 14.5-52.6%(mean 38.1%),respectively. The correlation coefficient between SS and the turbidity of influent water was 0.90, higher than that of CSO. To operate the treatment system effectively, the turbidity can be easily measured in real time as the monitoring item is the most appropriate because SS is the main target substance of the non-point source. As a result of analyzing the adsorbent treatment characteristics of PP filter material applied to this pilot device, the average particle diameter range of influent was $4.6-40.1{\mu}m$(mean $21.2{\mu}m$) and the treated water was $0.9-24.5{\mu}m$(mean $6.4{\mu}m$), respectively. Particles of approximately 10m or less are leached out, and so it is necessary to compensate for the raw water containing micro particulate matter.

  • As a formal document that expresses a set of security requirements for IT products that meets specific consumer needs in the ISO/IEC 15408(CC, Common Criteria) evaluation, protection profiles are developing by many national agencies and companies recently. Since a protection profile is a criteria for security evaluation when the IT systems and products are introduced, the importance of the protection profile is increasing. However, developing protection profiles are still difficult due to lack of detailed methodology and guidance to analyze security environments or to derive security requirements. In this paper, we analyze foreign instances of developing protection profiles and propose a methodology for deriving security requirements through analyzing the TOE security environment.

  • A 12-bit 10-MS/s pipeline analog-to-digital converter (ADC) is proposed for image processing applications. The proposed pipeline ADC consists of a sample and hold amplifier, three stages, a 3-bit flash analog-to-digital converter, and a digital error corrector. Each stage is operated by using a 4-bit flash ADC (FADC) and a multiplying digital-to-analog converter (MDAC). The proposed sample and hold amplifier increases the voltage gain using gain boosting for the ADC with high resolution. The proposed pipelined ADC is designed using a 180-nm CMOS process with a supply voltage of 1.8 and it has an effective number of bit (ENOB) of 10.52 bits at sampling rate of 10MS/s for a 1-Vpp differential sinusoidal analog input with frequency of 1 MHz. The measured ENOB is 10.12 bits when the frequency of the sinusoidal analog input signal is a Nyquist frequency of approximately 5 MHz.

  • Pump cap is a product that is widely used due to its ease of use and simple operation. These pump caps are applied to heterogeneous functional cosmetics and are being developed as dual pump caps. However, the conventional dual pump cap has a problem in that it is inconvenient to use and leakage occurs. In addition, it is formed of a plurality of materials, and there is a problem that is difficult to recycle. Lately, since the problem of environmental pollution is getting serious, the dual pump cap, which is difficult to recycle, cannot be used. Currently, eco-friendliness has been considered in Korea, and there are no dual pump cap containers with excellent sealing performance. Therefore, in this study, a dual pump cap container made of eco-friendly material was designed. In addition, finite element analysis was performed to verify the design feasibility of the product.

  • The observation of stellar occultations constitutes one of the most important techniques for determining the dimensions and establishing the physical parameters of small Solar System bodies. The most substantial calculations are obtained from multiple observations of the same event, which turns the observation of stellar occultations into highly collaborative work and groups teams of observers through international networks. The above situation also requires the participation of both professional and amateur observers in these collaborative networks. With the aim of promoting the participation of professional and amateur groups in the collaborative observation of stellar occultations, we present the methodology developed by the Astronomical Observatory of the Technological University of Pereira (OAUTP) for the observations of occultations due small Solar System bodies. We expose the three fundamental phases of the process: the plan to make observations, the capture of the events, and the treatment of the data. We apply our methodology using a fixed station and a mobile station to observe stellar occultations due to MBAs (354) Eleonora (61) Danae (15112) Arlenewolfe (3915) Fukushima (61788) 2000 QP181 (425) Cornelia (257) Silesia (386) Siegena and (41) Daphne, and due to TNOs 1998BU48 and (529823) 2010 PP81. The positive detections for the objects (257) Silesia (386) Siegena and (41) Daphne allow us to derive lower limits in the diameter of the MBAs of 63.1 km, 166.2 km and 158.7 km and offsets in the astrometric position (Δαc cosc, Δc) of 622.30 ± 0.83, 15.23 ± 9.88 mas, 586.06 ± 1.68, 43.03 ± 13.88 mas and -413.44 ± 9.42, 234.05 ± 19.12 mas, respectively.

  • Cell separation from a heterogenous mixture sample is an essential process for downstream analysis in biological, chemical, and clinical applications. This study demonstrates an integrated hybrid device of the viscoelastic focusing in a straight rectangular channel and subsequent size-based separation using acoustophoresis to attain high efficiency and separation tunability. For particle pre-alignment in a viscoelastic fluid, the flow rate higher than 10 μl/min was required. Surface acoustic wave-based lateral migration of particles with different sizes (13 and 27 ㎛) was examined at various applied voltages and flow rate conditions. Therefore, the flow rate of 100 μl/min and the applied voltage of 20 Vpp can be used for size-based particle separation.

  • Objectives : Allium Hookeri (AH) is a traditional herb to treat inflammatory diseases in India and Myanmar. Recently, AH cultivation was succeeded in South Korea. This study was performed to evaluate the anti-inflammatory effects of Korean AH in RAW264.7 cells, mouse macrophage cell line. Methods : To evaluate the anti-inflammatory effects of root of AH, we prepared the 70% ethanol extract, then we examined the productions of nitrite, and pro-inflammatory cytokines. To examine the nitrite, and cytokines, the RAW264.7 cells were treated with AH, then stimulated with lipopolysaccharide (LPS, 500 ng/ml) for 24 h. Then the cells were harvested for griess assay, ELISA and real-time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR). Also to detect the ability of AH to induce heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1), we examined the HO-1 expression using real time RT-PCR and western blot. Furthermore, we examined the mitogen activated-protein kinases (MAPKs) and nuclear factor kappa B (NF-${\kappa}B$) activation to find out the underlying mechanisms. Results : AH ethanol extract significantly inhibited the productions of nitrite and interleukin (IL)-$1{\beta}$. AH treatment increased the HO-1 expression dramatically at 1 h, then peaked at 3 h. When the HO-1 was inhibited by tin (Sn) protoporphryin-IX (SnPP), the anti-inflammatory action of AH was reversed. AH treatment inhibited the activation of p38, but not extracelluar signal-regulated kinase (ERK 1/2) and c-Jun $NH_2$-terminal kinase (JNK) and also the degradation of inhibitory kappa B a (Ik-$B{\alpha}$) in the LPS-stimulated RAW 264.7 cells. Conclusions : These data could suggest that AH exerts anti-inflammatory influences through up-regulation of HO-1 and deactivation of p38.

  • Objectives : The aim of this study was to evaluate whether herb mixture extract (HME) would affect allergic contact dermatitis induced by 1-chloro-2,4-dinitro-chlorobenzene (DNCB) in mice. For this, the level of blood IgE was identified. To evaluate anti-inflammatory effect of HME, we tested HMC-1 cells stimulated by PMA+A231867. Methods : In order to evaluate allergic contact dermatitis effects we observed HME on contact-hypersensitive skin of Balb/cmice induced by 0.5% DNCB and measured concentration of IgE in blood of Balb/c mice. In order to evaluate anti-inflammatory effect of cytokine expression we used the method of enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Results : We confirmed deep wounds, erosions, progress of keratinization and drop out of dead skin cells from Balb/c mice induced by 0.5% DNCB. We also observed a remarkable decrease in symptoms of atopic dermatitis in the group that received injection of 200mg/kg HME. In addition, in the measurement outcome for IgE concentration in blood, we confirmed that IgE concentration was increased by treatment with DNCB only, while it was markedly decreased by treatment with HME. We confirmed that cytokine expression decreased through enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay and pERK, pJNK, and pp38 also decreased through western blot test Conclusions : According to the above results, HME has some effect on alleviating symptoms of allergic contact dermatitis and has anti-inflammatory effects.

  • In this study, fluorescence hyperspectral imaging (FHSI) was used for the rapid, non-destructive detection of fake, manmade eggs from real eggs. To identify fake eggs, protoporphyrin IX (PpIX)-a natural pigment present in real eggshells-was utilized as the main indicator due to its strong fluorescence emission effect. The fluorescence images of real and fake eggs were acquired using a line-scan-based FHSI system, and their fluorescence features were analyzed based on spectroscopic techniques. To improve the detection performance and accuracy, an optimal waveband combination was investigated with analysis of variance (ANOVA), and its fluorescence ratio images (588/645 nm) were created for visualization of the real eggs between two different egg groups. In addition, real and fake eggs were scanned using a one-waveband (645 nm) handheld fluorescence imager that can perform real-time scanning for on-site applications. Then, the results of the two methods were compared with one another. The outcome clearly shows that the newly developed FHSI system and the fluorescence handheld imager were both able to distinguish real eggs from fake eggs. Consequently, FHSI showed a better performance (clearer images) compared to the fluorescence handheld imager, and the outcome provided valuable information about the feasibility of using FHSI imaging with ANOVA for the discrimination of real and fake eggs.

  • Air filters are being used in countless places from industrial sites to everyday life. The spread of the COVID-19 virus, which started in 2019, is disrupting people's daily lives, and the importance of air filters as a basic means to prevent the spread of these diseases is further highlighted. In this study, the purpose was to develop another type of air filter media with excellent barrier properties that can replace PP meltblown nonwoven fabrics widely used commercially due to its excellent electrostatic properties, differential pressure and filtration efficiency. Therefore, wet-laid nonwoven for air filters were manufactured using plexi-filaments formed through flash spinning and having various fiber diameter from hundreds of nanometers to tens of micrometers, and its applicability as an air-filter media was investigated compared to the meltblown nonwoven. As a result of the performance evaluation, it was found that the filtration efficiency and barrier performance at 0.3㎛ was superior to that of the meltblown nonwoven of the same weight, although the differential pressure was high due to morphological properties of the plexi-filament.
