In and around the Korean Peninsula, 9 intraplate earthquake mechanisms since 1936 were analyzed to understand the regional stress orientation and tectonics. These earthquakes are largest ones in this century and may represent the characteristics of earthquake in this region. Focal mechanism of these earthquakes show predominant strike-slip faulting with small amount of thrust components. The average P-axis is almost horizontal ENE-WSW. This indicate that not only the subducting Pacific Plate but also the indenting Indian Plate controls earthquake mechanism in the far east of the Eurasian Plate.
By applying analytic method to the uniform model, the intrinsic and scattering quality factor ($Q_i^{-1}$ and $Q_s^{-1}$) was separated for the southeastern part of Korean Peninsula. The Multiple Lapse Time Window Analysis method was used to fit theoretical values with observations obtained 759 earthquake data. While previous study for the Korean Peninsula showed very low $Q_i^{-1}$ and $Q_s^{-1}$ reflecting inactive seismicity, southeastern Korea exhibited relatively high $Q_i^{-1}$ and $Q_s^{-1}$ values interpreted as higher seismicity than the other region in the peninsula.

This study reviews Korean population geographic documents and description by Westerners, from the mid 1800s to the Great Han Empire. The major findings are as follows. First I search and find about 20 literatures including the population contents. Second I trace their narration related Korean population, and confirm the key themes; the total population in national and local scale, distribution, density and migration. Finally I try to interpret the Westerners' recognition and perspective on Korean through their representing and depicting the Korean population.
The Korean peninsula is located at the edge of the East Asian active margin. The seismic activity in the Korean Peninsula is relatively low compared with the neighboring countries China and Japan. According to the available Seismic information, the Korean Peninsula is not totally safe from the Earthquake disaster. Moreover, the area is surrounded by varies tectonic forces which is resulted from the relative movements of the surrounding tectonic plates "Pacific, Philippine Sea, Eurasian and South China". Nowadays South Korea has 65 GPS stations belong to 5 governmental organizations "each organization figure out its own GPS stations for different requirements" In order to minimize the seismic hazard in the Korean Peninsula a program for monitoring the recent crustal movement has been designed considering the uses of the available GPS station "some selected stations from the previously mentioned stations" and the tectonic settings in and around the Korean Peninsula. This program is composed of two main parts, the first part to monitor the crustal deformation around the Korean Peninsula with the collaboration of the surrounding countries "China and Japan" this part is composed of two phases "East Sea Phase and Yellow Sea Phase". These phases will be helpful in determining the deformation parameters in the East Sea and the Yellow Sea respectively While the Second part of this program, is designed to determine the deformation parameters id and around the main faults in the Korean Peninsula and the relative movement between the Korean Peninsula and the Cheju Island. Through out this study the needs of crustal movement center rose up to collect the data from the previously mentioned stations and Organizations in order to use such reliable data in different geodynamical application.

This study examined the techniques of creating gardens overseas using native plants from the Korean peninsula, focusing on the case of 'Das Dritte Land', an art garden created in Berlin, Germany. While Korean garden artists are recognized worldwide and are planning to globalize Korean gardens, the purpose of this study is to share information so that Korean gardeners can expand their activities and rediscover the utilization and value of plants native to the Korean peninsula. The work began as part of a project to mark the 30th anniversary of the collapse of the Berlin Wall. To realize the landscape of Korea with the motif of Inwang Jesaekdo, the geographical shape of the Baekdu-Daegan trail was reproduced with black stone, and the naturalization of Korean peninsula species was utilized in the creation of a garden Berlin. It is a surreal bio-top utopia that blooms with the bio-groups of the Korean peninsula. This study examined the process of plant survey analysis, transportation and stabilization, planting planning, composition and monitoring, and targeting the self-growth of the Korean peninsula, which is a symbol of harmony between the South and the North. The planting of Korea's native plants in overseas gardens symbolizes the uniting of the ecosystems on the Korean peninsula. The process of the Korean peninsula's young plants taking root, flowering, and spreading along Germany's previously divided border metaphorically conveys the desire for the unification of the Korean peninsula. In addition, various art programs in the garden space suggest a foundation for cultural dialogue and communication between the two Koreas. Moreover, creating gardens overseas implies that the cooperation of plant research institutes plays an important role in the transfer of plants and the maintenance of life, while the advancement of Korean gardens overseas plays an essential role in the spread of garden culture in our country.
This paper is designed to deal with the gaps and differences between the two Koreas, which have gradually increased since the Korean War. The purpose of this study, in particular, is to assess the digital and AI gap between the two parts of the peninsula in the emerging 4th industrial revolution era that is rapidly innovating the industrial structures, and to present a cooperation plan for the realization of a peace economy and economic prosperity of the Korean Peninsula in the future. In this study, policy alternatives for assessing and bridging the digital gap between South and North were drawn using the comprehensive policy (model) for closing the digital divide, which was one of Korea's past informatization policies. The derived alternatives are meaningful in that they can spark discussions for building the AI-driven society that realizes the integrated economy of the two Koreas complying with the future industrial structure.

Takenoshin Nakai (1882-1952), Japanese taxonomist and professor of the University of Tokyo, who was one of Korean flora specialists, conducted his plant exploration from 1909 to 1942 after he completed two volumes of Flora Koreana. His collections, which are currently deposited at the University of Tokyo herbarium (TI), are important research resources. Since all collection sites were simply described in his collection sites in Romanized characters based on Japanese pronunciation, it is difficult for Korean as well as Japanese botanists to pinpoint those sites using the current or the old Korean maps. No single literature has been available regarding his collection routes and sites, although this information is essential to current plant systematic research in Korea. From this current study, all locality names were reviewed based on his own collections as well as his written literatures, and those were listed as the order of his collection dates with seven maps here.

The urbanization of Korea has been rapidly progressed since 1960, but satellite imagery have provided the information only after 1975. Recently released CORONA imagery is one of the few source of satellite image which can provide 1960's topographic information of the Korean Peninsular. It can be applied to change detection in various fields such as urban, forest, and environmental planning. In this research mosaic image of past Korean Peninsular using CORONA imagery in the 1960s were generated. A polynomial equation and a modified collinearity equation were applied for geo-referencing and a comparative analysis was conducted. In this research the 2nd polynomial equations were used for geo-referencing of CORONA imagery. After carrying out geo-referencing, mosaic image was generated using Erdas Imagine. It is assumed that this result image is very useful for various fields such as generation of thematic maps, urban planning, and change detection.
The achievements of Tateiwa Iwao's work in Korea are assessed as follows. Firstly, he pioneered the practice of stratigraphy in the Korean peninsula and completed geological maps of 21 sheets at 1:50,000 scale. Secondly, he published the results of a geological survey as bulletins, technical reports, and papers. Thirdly, he faithfully carried out the handover of assets and research outputs to Korea. Finally, after returning to Japan, Tateiwa wrote a book entitled The Korea-Japanese Tectonic Zone: History of a Geological Survey in Korea. However, he neglected to educate and train the next geologists for conducting geological surveys and exploration in Korea.
The seismicity of the Korean Peninsula shows a very irregular pattern of strain release typical of the intraplate seismicity. The Korean Peninsula may be divided into several tectonic provinces of differing tectonics. In this analysis, seismicity parameters for each tectonic province are evaluated from historical as well as instrumental earthquake data of the Korean Peninsula to examine the differences in seismic characteristics among tectonic provinces. Statistical analysis of the earthquake data made of incomplete data before the Choseon Dynasty and complete data afterwards reveals that there exist no significant differences in seismic characteristics between the tectonic provinces. It turns out the b-value in the intensity-frequency relation for the whole peninsula is about 0.6 and the maximum earthquake is about MMI X. The results of this study may be used in the probabilistic seismic hazard analysis of the Korean Peninsula and in estimating the design earthquake in earthquake engineering.
