미세 X선 단층촬영 기법의 개발과 적용 (Development of X-ray Micro Computed Tomography and Applications)

  • The objective of this study is to elucidate the feasibility of synchrotron X-ray micro CT as a non-destructive imaging method to visualize the three-dimensional morphological structures of biological and non-biological samples. The experiments were conducted in 7B2 X-ray micro CT beamline in Pohang Accelerate Laboratory (PAL). A rotational 3-axis stage was specially designed for $0^{\circ}-180^{\circ}$ scanning of test samples. Preliminary tests were performed for opaque samples including a mosquito head, a plant seed and gas diffusion layer (GDL) of polymer electrolyte fuel cell to verify the feasibility of the X-ray micro CT. It visualized clearly the internal structure of all the test samples, supporting its usefulness.

  • The main question addressed in this research was whether an adaptation of a standard exercise Physiology Procedure would be sensitive enough to record excess oxygen uptake associated with speech activity. Oxygen consumption was recorded for a single subject during 7-minute rest periods and an automatic speech task, also 7-minutes long and performed at three different vocal efforts. The data show measurable and systematic speech-induced modifications of breathing and oxygen uptake patterns. The subject was found to use less power for normal than for soft and loud speech. This result is similar to findings reported by experimental biologists on the energetics of locomotion. However, more comprehensive feasibility studies need to be undertaken on a larger population before solid and detailed conclusions about speech energy costs are possible. However, it appears clear that, for experimental tasks like the present one, i.e., variations in vocal effort, standard exercise physiology methods may indeed offer a viable approach to recording excess oxygen uptake associated with speech movements.

  • 국내의 친환경건축물 인증제도는 환경적 측면뿐만 아니라 대상 프로젝트에 대한 인센티브 및 분양촉진 등 유무형의 효과를 기대할 수 있어 최근 공동주택을 중심으로 활발히 계획되고 있다. 하지만 기존의 프로젝트 초기단계에 수행되는 사업타당성 분석지표는 친환경 인증에 관련된 영향요인이 고려되지 않아 객관적인 평가가 이루어지기 어렵다. 따라서 본 연구는 사업타당성 분석지표에 있어서 고려되어야 하는 친환경 영향요인을 경제적 측면에 가장 큰 영향을 미치는 에너지부문을 중심으로 분석하고 그 구체적인 항목의 도출을 목표로 한다.

예비타당성조사 적용 CVM의 분석체계와 개선과제 (Issues in Applying CV Methods to the Preliminary Feasibility Test)

  • 본 연구는 한국개발연구원의 예비타당성조사에서 문화 과학 시설 등의 비정형 사업에 대한 편익 평가의 기법으로 활용도가 커지고 있는 CVM의 분석체계를 고찰하고 개선과제를 제시하였다. CVM의 설계에서 시장영역, 즉 목표모집단의 설정, 소득세라는 지불수단, 5년간 연단위로 한정하는 지불 방법, 저항응답의 사유 등에 대해서는 추가적인 논의가 필요하고, CVM의 설계에서 편의를 줄일 수 있는 전문가 검토, 표적집단조사, 사전조사, 본조사가 운영되도록 하여야 한다. 한편 CVM의 지불의사 유도 방법으로 활용되고 있는 단일 및 이중 양분선택형 질문방식에 의한 지불의사 유도 방법이 일반적이지만, 이 모형들과 관련된 쟁점에 대한 검토와 더불어 이외의 모형에 대해서도 검토하는 작업이 필요하다. WTP 함수 추정에 가정하고 있는 특정 분포 가정을 다양화하여 WTP의 변동성을 검토하고, 모수적 분포 이외에 비모수적 기법을 활용하여 WTP 함수를 추정하는 연구가 필요한 시점이다. 아울러 0의 지불의사 문제와 저항응답을 처리하기 위한 다양한 시도가 필요하며, 지불거부여부를 제시금액 이전에 제시하는 등의 질문 순서의 변화 등을 통한 지불거부자 파악 과정에서 발생하는 편의를 회피하는 노력 등도 검토되어야 한다.

한국인 폐활량 예측산식을 위한 예비타당성 연구: 통계검정모델 중심 (Preliminary Feasibility Study for Korean Lung Capacity Prediction Formula: Focused on Statistical Test Model)

  • Background: The lung capacity prediction formula in Korea is an important judgment standard. Since there is no appropriate lung capacity prediction formula, various prediction formulas are used for foreigners such as Northeast Asians. The purpose of this study is to develop a lung capacity prediction equation by selecting data and setting the selection criteria for normal subjects in accordance with international standards through strict quality control, and to propose a new prediction model. Design: Preliminary feasibility study Methods: A total of 857 people who met the criteria for normal people were finally collected. The tester used for the lung capacity test was the V-Max Encore 22 (Carefusion, California, USA), which is a lung capacity tester proposed by the Korean Society of Tuberculosis and Respiratory Medicine and satisfies accuracy and precision. Among the indicators measured using spirometry, forced vital capacity (FVC), forced expiratory volume in 1 second (FEV1), forced expiratory volume ratio in 1 second (FEV1/FVC), forced mid-expiratory flow (Forced expiratory flow 25-75%, FEF25-75%) and peak expiratory flow (PEF) values were collected. Results: This study confirmed a significant correlation between age, height, weight, and pulmonary function indicators. Additionally, it found a correlation between body mass index, which considers the diversity of physical conditions, and pulmonary function indicators. Graphs depicting age-specific pulmonary function indicators by gender, presented as generalized additive model results from collected data, showed a pattern where both FVC and FEV1 increased until the mid-20s and then gradually decreased with aging. FEV1% and PEF exhibited a continuous decrease with aging. Conclusion: This study confirms that there is a significant correlation between weight and pulmonary function in the prediction formula for lung capacity. Additionally, it verifies the correlation between body mass index, which considers the diversity of physical conditions, and pulmonary function. The study suggests that the predicted values are relatively low due to factors such as aging and environmental influences like COVID-19. This preliminary study holds clinical significance for improving the diagnostic accuracy of respiratory symptoms in the elderly.

  • The objective of this study is to devise an accident scenario analysis method adept at creating accident scenarios at the Preliminary Hazard Analysis(PHA) step of a hazard analysis for railway system. This approach was inspired by the Quality Function Deployment(QFD) method, which is conventionally used in quality management and was used at the systematic accident scenario analysis(SASA) for the design of safer products. In this study, the QFD provides a formal and systematic schema to devise accident scenarios while maintaining objective. The accident scenario analysis method first identifies the hazard factors that cause railway accidents and explains the situation characteristics surrounding the accident. This method includes a feasibility test, a clustering process and a pattering process for a clearer understanding of the accident situation. Since this method enables an accident scenario analysis method to be performed systematically as well as objectively, this method is useful in building better accident prevention strategies. Therefore, this study can serve to reduce railway accident and be an effective tool for a hazard analysis.

Feasibility study of an earth-retaining structure using in-situ soil with dual sheet piles

  • Classic braced walls use struts and wales to minimize ground movements induced by deep excavation. However, the installation of struts and wales is a time-consuming process and confines the work space. To secure a work space around the retaining structure, an anchoring system works in conjunction with a braced wall. However, anchoring cannot perform well when the shear strength of soil is low. In such a case, innovative retaining systems are required in excavation. This study proposes an innovative earth-retaining wall that uses in situ soil confined in dual sheet piles as a structural component. A numerical study was conducted to evaluate the stability of the proposed structure in cohesionless dry soil and establish a design chart. The displacement and factor of safety of the structural member were monitored and evaluated. According to the results, an increase in the clearance distance increases the depth of safe excavation. For a conservative design to secure the stability of the earth-retaining structure in cohesionless dry soil, the clearance distance should exceed 2 m, and the embedded depth should exceed 40% of the wall height. The results suggest that the proposed method can be used for 14 m of excavation without any internal support structure. The design chart can be used for the preliminary design of an earth-retaining structure using in situ soil with dual steel sheet piles in cohesionless dry soil.

  • 본 연구의 목적은 공공부문 기술교원들의 능력향상을 위한 체계적인 연구를 수행하여 변화하는 교육환경 및 패러다임의 변화에 따른 교육시장의 변화에 능동적으로 대처하고 현장감 있고 내실 있는 기술교육을 실시할 수 있도록 기술교원의 능력향상을 위한 프로그램 개발의 기초를 마련하는데 있다. 특히 기술교육 분야에 종사하는 교원은 빠르게 발전하는 산업현장의 신기술에 대하여 동향을 잘 파악하고 있어야 할 뿐 아니라 새로운 기술과 지식을 습득할 수 있는 능력 또한 겸비하여야 한다. 본 연구에서는 기술교원의 능력에 대한 사전조사를 실시하여 타당성을 검토하고 현재의 능력개발 과정을 파악하며 조사 결과를 바탕으로 각 분야별로 능력향상을 위하여 필요한 요소를 도출하여 이에 부합하는 교육과정을 운영하는데 기초 자료로 사용하고자 한다.

3D 프린팅 기술의 의료기기 수리 적용에 대한 국내 규제 이슈 및 기술적 적합성 평가 (Regulation Issues in Korea and Technical Feasibility Evaluation of 3D Printing-Based Medical Device Repair)

  • In large-scale hospitals, the department of biomedical engineering should always provide quick repair service for damaged medical devices to guarantee continuous patient treatment. However, in actual circumstances, there are so many time-consuming issues that delays device repair for weeks or even months; therefore, it is required to prepare alternative ways for quick repair service. In this study, we first mentioned about the regulation issues in Korea about the 3D printing-based medical device repair, and then introduced the results of our preliminary study that evaluated the feasibility of 3D printing-based medical device repair before real-field application. Results of the study demonstrated that, in all of the 23 cases, parts for repair that were manufactured by 3D-printing were successfully fixed and connected to the main body of the original device, and showed sufficient rigidity for protecting internal parts of the device. Considering the experimental results, medical device repair by applying 3D printing technology can be a promising alternative in cases when regular repair process is not available or takes too much time.

구미하수처리장 방류구에서의 소수력발전 설치 및 운영에 관한 연구 (Feasibility Study on the Construction of Small Hydro-Power Plants in Gumi Sewage Treatment Plant Discharge Point)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the possible installation of small hydro-power plant at the discharge point of Gumi sewage treatment plant (STP) using treated wastewater. Sufficient amount of water to transfer to electric power and the selection of proper location are two essential elements for the construction of small hydro-power facility. Preliminary analysis based on site visit and existing data in Gumi STP were made. Capacity of the small hydro-power plants and exact location were determined by geomorphological condition and flow duration characteristics. Flow duration characteristics and its duration curve were identified using monthly rainfall data in Gumi STP. Relevant facts of small hydro-power system in other STP were referred to adopt to Gumi STP situation. Flowrate of treated effluents and effective head between flow chamber and the location of hydraulic turbine in Gumi STP are found to be $3.70m^3$/sec and 3.5m respectively. Electric generation rate based on this feasibility study was estimated to be 86.3kW/h. Yearly electric generation rate was expected to be 932.4MMh. Proposed small hydro-power plant construction in Gumi STP is to be reasonable.
