  • An experimental study has been conducted to investigate the heat/mass transfer characteristics within a film cooling hole of square cross-section for various blowing ratios and Reynolds numbers. The experiments have been performed using a naphthalene sublimation method and the flow field has been analyzed by numerical calculation using a commercial code. A duct flow enters into a film cooling hole in a cross-direction. For the film cooling hole with square cross-section, it is observed that the reattachment of separated flow and the vortices within the hole enhance considerably the heat/mass transfer around the hole entrance region. The heat/mass transfer on the leading edge side of hole exit region increases as the blowing ratios decrease because the main flow induces a secondary vortex. Heat/mass transfer patterns within the square film cooling hole are changed little with the various Reynolds numbers.

  • An experimental study has been conducted to investigate the heat/mass transfer characteristics within a square film cooling hole with asymmetric inlet now condition. The asymmetric inlet now condition is achieved by making distances between side walls of the secondary now duct and the film cooling hole different; one side wall is $2D_h$ apart from the center of the film cooling hole, while the other side wall is $1.5D_h$ apart from the center of the film cooling hole. The heat/mass transfer experiments for this study have been performed using a naphthalene sublimation method and the now field has been analyzed by numerical calculation using a commercial code. Swirl now is generated at the inlet region and the heat/mass transfer pattem with the asymmetric inlet now condition is changed significantly from that with the symmetric condition. In the exit region, the effect of mainstream on the inside hole now is reduced with the asymmetric condition. The average heat/mass transfer coefficient is higher than that with the symmetric condition due to the swirl now generated by the asymmetric inlet condition.

  • ITO(Iridium-Tin Oxide) thin film, as discharge electrodes in AC PDP, should have low resistivity and high transparency. Regarded as a high deposition rate method, the ITO thin film fabricated by the facing target sputtering system has been studied in this paper. The electrical property of the ITO film deposited below $150^{\circ}C$ is not satisfied. The SEM pictures show that the ITO films deposited below $150^{\circ}C$ are amorphous. After being annealed the amorphous ITO films become crystalline, and for this reason, the electrical property of amorphous ITO films can be effectively improved by annealing process. An ITO film with the resistivity as low as $1.99{\times}10^{-4}$ and transparency above 85% has be gotten after vacuum annealing at $300^{\circ}C$ for 2 hours while deposited at $75^{\circ}C$. The corresponding deposition rate is $220{\AA}/min$.

Impedance Matching of Electrically Small Antenna with Ni-Zn Ferrite Film

  • We demonstrate that a partial loading of $Ni_{0.5}Zn_{0.5}Fe_2O_4$ (Ni-Zn ferrite) film remarkably improves impedance matching of electrically small $Ba_3Co_2Fe_{24}O_{41}$ ($Co_2Z$) hexaferrite antenna. A 3 ${\mu}m$ thick Ni-Zn ferrite film was deposited on a silicon wafer by the electrophoresis deposition process and post-annealed at $400^{\circ}C$. The fabricated Ni-Zn ferrite film has saturation magnetization of $268emu/cm^3$ and coercivity of 89 Oe. A partial loading of the Ni-Zn ferrite film on the $Co_2Z$ hexaferrite helical antenna increases antenna return loss to 24.7 dB from 9.0 dB of the $Co_2Z$ antenna. Experimental results show that impedance matching and maximum input power transmission to the antenna without additional matching elements can be realized, while keeping almost the same size as the $Co_2Z$ antenna size.

채널내 공기유동이 있는 유하액막의 열전달특성에 관한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study on Heat Transfer of a Falling Liquid Film in Air Channel Flow)

  • Thermal transport from vertical heated surface to falling liquid film in a channel has been investigated experimentally. Air-flow is introduced into channel to make a counter flow against falling liquid film. This problem is of particular interest in the design of direct contact heat exchange system, such as cooling tower, evaporative cooling system, absorption cooling system, and distillation system. The effects of channel width and air flow rate on the heat transfer to falling liquid film are studied in detail. The results obtained indicate that heat transfer rate is gradually decreased with an increase in the channel width without air flow as well as with air flow in a channel. It is also found that heat transfer rate of air-flow is increased while heat transfer rate of falling liquid film is decreased with an increase in the air flow rate at a given channel width. However, total heat transfer rate from the heated surface is increased as the air flow rate is increased.

  • Effects of annealing treatment on microstructure and mechanical property of co-sputtered TiNi thin films were studied. As-deposited films showed amorphous state. However, above annealing temperature of $500^{\circ}C$ martensite phase (B19'), precipitate phase ($Ti_2Ni$) and a small amount of parent phase ($B_2$) were present, and phase transformation behaviors were three multi-step phase transformations $B19^{\prime}{\rightarrow}B_2$ and $B_2{\rightarrow}R-phase$ and $R-phase{\rightarrow}B19^{\prime}$. Increase of martensite transformation temperature, increase of microhardness and Young's modulus of TiNi films annealed above $500^{\circ}C$ were discussed in terms of precipitate phase.

  • Stress behavior was studied to investigate the internal behaviors of boron, carbon, and nitrogen in the 1000${\AA}$-thick tungsten boron carbon nitride (W-B-C-N) thin films. The impurities in the W-B-C-N thin films provide stuffing effects that were very effective for preventing the interdiffusion between interconnection metal and silicon substrate during the subsequent high temperature annealing process. The resistivity of W-B-C-N thin film decreases as an annealing temperature increase. The W-B-C-N thin films have compressive stress, and the stress value decreased up to $4.11\times10^{10}dyne/cm^2$ as an $N_2$ flow rate increases up to 3 sccm.

  • The effects of the composition on the consolidation temperature and refractive index of the glass thin film fabricated by aerosol flame deposition method in SiO$_2$-B$_2$O$_3$-CaO-P$_2$O\ulcorner system were investigated. When the amount of CaO was constant in SiO$_2$-B$_2$O$_3$-CaO system the consolidation temperature of glass thin film decreased with increasing the amount of B$_2$O$_3$. Also, when the amount of SiO$_2$ and B$_2$O$_3$ was constant the consolidation temperature of glass thin film increased with increasing the amount of CaO. P$_2$O\ulcorner was added to 72.5SiO$_2$-25B$_2$O$_3$-2.5CaO in order to decrease its consolidation temperature. As the amount of P$_2$O\ulcorner increased its consolidation temperature decreased and the refractive index linearly increased from 1.4649 to 1.4684. When the amount of CaO and P$_2$O\ulcorner was constant in SiO$_2$-B$_2$O$_3$-CaO-P$_2$O\ulcorner system the consolidation temperature of glass thin film decreased with increasing the ratio of SiO$_2$/B$_2$O$_3$.

써클콘택트렌즈가 눈물막 안정성에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Circle Contact Lens on the Stability of Tear Film)

  • 목적: 본 연구에서는 써클콘택트렌즈의 착색이 눈물막 안정성에 미치는 영향을 알아보고자 하였다. 방법: 눈물량이 정상인 20대 54안을 대상으로 콘택트렌즈 착용 전후의 비침입성 눈물막파괴시간 및 눈물막 깨짐이 시작되는 부위를 측정하였으며, 콘택트렌즈 전후면의 표면 거칠기를 주사전자현미경으로 관찰하였다. 콘택트렌즈는 hilafilcon B재질의 투명 및 써클콘택트렌즈, polymacon 재질 및 HEMA NVP 공중합 재질의 써클콘택트렌즈를 대상으로 하였다. 결과: 콘택트렌즈 착용 시 나안에 비해 눈물막파괴시간이 통계적으로 유의하게 감소하였으며 써클콘택트렌즈 간에 눈물막파괴시간이 통계적으로 유의한 차이를 보이는 경우도 있었다. 일반적으로 콘택트렌즈의 상방부 보다는 하방부에서, 코방향 보다는 귀방향에서 좀 더 높은 빈도로 눈물막이 깨지기 시작하였으나 렌즈의 종류에 따라 다소 차이가 있었다. Hilafilcon B 투명렌즈에 비해 동일 재질 써클콘택트렌즈 주변부(착색부분)에서의 눈물막 깨짐이 더 많았다. 결론: 써클콘택트렌즈의 착용으로 인해 눈물막 안정성이 영향을 받음을 알 수 있었으며, 본 연구결과는 써클콘택트렌즈 착용 시 착색으로 인하여 나타날 수 있는 문제점 해결의 기초자료로 사용될 수 있을 것으로 보인다.

Development of Micro Tensile Test of CVD-SiC coating Layer for TRISO Nuclear Fuel Particles at elevated temperature

  • Very High Temperature gas cooler Reactor (VHTR) has been considered as one of the most promising nuclear reactor because of many advantages including high inherent safety to avoid environmental pollution, high thermal efficiency and the role of secondary energy source. The TRISO coated fuel particles used in VHTR are composed of 4 layers as OPyC, SiC, IPyC and buffer PyC. The significance of CVD-SiC coatings used in tri-isotropic(TRISO) nuclear coated fuel particles is to maintain the strength of the whole particle. Various methods have been proposed to evaluate the mechanical properties of CVD-SiC film at room temperature. However, few works have been attempted to characterize properties of CVD-SiC film at high temperature. In this study, micro tensile system was newly developed for mechanical characterization of SiC thin film at elevated temperature. Two kinds of CVD-SiC films were prepared for micro tensile test. SiC-A had [111]-preferred orientation, while SiC-B had [220]-preferred orientation. The free silicon was co-deposited in SiC-B coating layer. The fracture strength of two different CVD-SiC films was characterized up to $1000^{\circ}C$.The strength of SiC-B film decreased with temperature. This result can be explained by free silicon, observed in SiC-B along the columnar boundaries by TEM. The presence of free silicon causes strength degradation. Also, larger Weibull-modulus was measured. The new method can be used for thin film material at high temperature.
