In this work, soluble polyimides were synthesized and characterized from 5-(2,5-dioxotetrahydrofuryl)-3-methyl-3-cyclohexene-1,2-dicarboxylic anhydride (DOCDA) and two diamines such as 4,4'-diaminodiphenylether (ODA), 1,4-phenylenediamine (p-PDA). Their thermal properties were analyzed with differential scanning calorimeter (DSC). The gas permeability coefficients (P) and ideal selectivity for $CH_4$ and $CO_2$ of the prepared polyimide membranes were measured with a time-lag apparatus. DOCDA-ODA, DOCDA-p-PDA showed good permeability and selectivity; the permeabilities of $CO_2$ was 6.10, 0.74 barrers and the selectivity of $CO_2/CH_4$ were 67.03, 46.25, respectively. Therefore, DOCDA-ODA showed good possibility as gas separation membrane.

Objective: The purpose of this study was to analyze the effects of skill and distance factors on CoP (Center of pressure) and CoM (Center of mass) during golf putting. Method: 38 golfers were participated in this study. 8 motion capture cameras (250 Hz) and 2 force plates (1,000 Hz) were used to collect CoP and CoM during 2 m and 3 m of distance golf putting. To identify main effect and interaction effect, it was performed Two-Way ANOVA at a significant level of a .05. Results: In the novice group, CoP distance was significantly difference in the A/P direction and main effect between skill level and distance. Both groups indicated that CoP distance was significantly different and main effect between skill level and distance in the M/L direction. Finally, both groups showed that CoM was significantly different and main effect between skill level and distance in the M/L direction. Conclusion: Therefore, novice golfers are expected to be able to perform more accurate and proper putting exercise through the practice of minimizing the center of mass(CoM) and center of pressure (CoP) in the M/L direction, which is the pendulum movement of the putter head.
This experiment was conducted to investigate the effect of $CO_2$ treatment on quality of strawberry during storage. Gas composition in polyethylene(P.E.) film bag during storage was changed markedly at early stage of storage and then kept at the level of 8-9% $CO_2$and 1-2% $O_2$. Weight loss and decay were restricted by $CO_2$ pretreatment and P.E. film packaging. Titratable acidity, PH and soluble solids were not changed greatly during storage. Firmness of flesh was increased by $CO_2$ treatment till 14 days of storage and decrease of a value reduced by $CO_2$ treatment and P.E.film packaging, too. Ascorbic acid contents were more high in not packed samples than packed untill 14 days of storage but after that those were more high in P.E.film packed and $CO_2$ treated samples.
In this study, the $Mg(OH)_2$ slurry was made form ferro-nickel slag and then used for $CO_2$ sequestration. The experiments were in the order as leaching step, precipitation, carbonation experiments. According to the leaching results, the optimal leaching conditions were $H_2SO_4$ concentration of 1 M and the temperature of 333 K. In the $Mg(OH)_2$ manufacturing step, NaOH was added to increase the pH upto 8, the first precipitation was confirmed as $Fe_2O_3$. After removal the first precipitation, the pH was upto 11, the $Mg(OH)_2$ was generated by XRD analysis. The $Mg(OH)_2$ slurry was used for $CO_2$ sequestration. The pseudo-second-order carbonation model was used to apply for $CO_2$ sequestration. The $CO_2$ sequestration rate was increased by the $CO_2$ partial pressure and temperature. However, $CO_2$ sequestration rate was decreased when temperature upto 323 K. After $CO_2$ sequestrated by $Mg(OH)_2$, the $CO_2$ can be sequestrated stable as $MgCO_3$. This study also presented optimal sequestration condition was the pH upto 8.38, the maximum $MgCO_3$ can be generated. This study can be used as the basic material for $CO_2$ sequestration by ferro-nickel slag at pilot scale in the future.
We developed three-dimensional quantitative structure activity relationship (3D-QASR) models for 17 adamantyl derivatives as P-glycoprotein (P-gp) inhibitors. Eighteen different partial charge calculation methods were tested to check the feasibility of the 3D-QSAR models. Best predictive comparative molecular field analysis (CoMFA) model was obtained with the Austin Model 1-Bond Charge Correction (AM1-BCC) atomic charge. The 3D-QSAR models were derived with CoMFA and comparative molecular similarity indices analysis (CoMSIA). The final CoMFA model ($q^2$ = 0.764, $r^2$ = 0.988) was calculated with an AM1-BCC charge and electrostatic parameter, whereas the CoMSIA model ($q^2$ = 0.655, $r^2$ = 0.964) was derived with an AM1-BCC charge and combined steric, electrostatic, hydrophobic and HB-acceptor parameters. Leave-five-out (LFO) cross-validation was also performed, which yielded good correlation coefficient for both CoMFA (0.801) and CoMSIA (0.656) models. Robustness of the developed models was checked further with 1000 run bootstrapping analyses, which gave an acceptable correlation coefficient for CoMFA (BS-$r^2$ = 0.997, BS-SD = 0.003) and CoMSIA (BS-$r^2$ = 0.996, BS-SD = 0.018).
Stable poly(styrene-co-divinylbenzene) [P(St-co-DVB)] micro spheres with narrow size distribution were synthesized in the presence of 2,2'-azobis(2,4-dimethyl valeronitrile) (V-65) and co-initiator in an acetone/water mixture in the precipitation polymerization at $53^{\circ}C$ for 24 h. Potassium peroxodisulfate (KPS), ammonium peroxodisulfate (APS) and sodium peroxodisulfate (NaPS) were used as co-initiators. The optimum ratio of acetone to water for the formation of a narrow distribution of P(St-co-DVB) particles was 49:11 (g/g). The optimum co-initiator compositions for narrow distribution were 9:1 (g/g) for V-65 to KPS, 11:1 for V-65 to APS and 6:1 for V-65 to NaPS. The yield for these compositions was $54{\sim}57%$ and the largest particle size was obtained with the lowest zeta-potential and CV values. From the XPS measurements, the charge density was increased but the zeta potential decreased with increasing sulfur content, implying that the sulfate group provides the electrostatic stabilization on the particle surface. This suggested that the self-crosslinking between styrene and DVB, the electrostatic stabilization of initiators, and the balanced hydrophobic and hydrophilic properties of the solvents are responsible for the formation of stable P(St-co-DVB) spherical particles with narrow size distribution.

We investigated the effects of stunning methods and gas treatments during slaughter on the quality characteristics of chicken breast and small intestine. Broilers (Ross 308) were stunned and slaughtered using halal, CO2, or N2 gas stunning methods (for 10 birds). After slaughter, the pH, proximate composition, color, water-holding capacity, cooking loss, and shear force of chicken breast muscle and small intestine were determined. Compared with the halal treatment, CO2 treatment resulted in higher pH and lower cooking loss (P<0.05), and the pH, color, and shear force of chicken breast muscle with N2 treatment were similar to those of the halal treatment (P>0.05). Compared with the halal treatment, the gas treatments resulted in lower pH and lightness and higher redness, yellowness, thickness, and shear force of the small intestine (P<0.05). However, compared with the CO2 treatment, the N2 treatment resulted in lower pH, redness, and yellowness, and higher lightness, thickness, and shear force. Overall, compared with the halal method, our results suggest that the use of N2 gas suppresses the discoloration and deterioration of the texture of chicken meat and small intestine caused by CO2 gas treatment in the gas stunning method.
The relationship between pH and the activity of ferrous iron in the reduced soil under water-logging was investigated theoretically and experimentally. The results of this study revealed, contrary to hitherto assumed, that the $pH-Fe^{+{+}}$ relationship in the commonly occurring rice soils under reduced condition is close to that in $FeCO_3-CO_2-H_2O$ system, being remote from that in $Fe_3(OH)_8-H_2O$ system and $Fe(OH)_2-H_2O$ system. This indicates that the activity of ferrous iron in the reduced rice soils under water-logging is likely to be governed by $FeCO_3$, neither by $Fe_3(OH)_8$, nor by $Fe(OH)_2$.
Sodium borohydride, $NaBH_4$, shows a number of advantages as hydrogen source for portable proton exchange membrane fuel cells(PEMFCs). Properties of $NaBH_4$ hydrolysis reaction using unsupported Co-B, Co-P-B catalyst were studied. BET surface area of catalyst, yield of hydrogen, effect of $NaBH_4$ concentration and durability of catalyst were measured. The BET surface area of unsupported Co-B catalyst was $75.7m^2/g$ and this value was 18 times higher than that of FeCrAlloy supported Co-B catalyst. The hydrogen yield of $NaBH_4$ hydrolysis reaction by unsupported catalysts using 20~25 wt% $NaBH_4$ solution was 97.6~98.5% in batch reactor. The hydrogen yield decrease to 95.3~97.0% as the concentration of $NaBH_4$ solution increase to 30 wt%. The loss of unsupported catalyst was less than that of FeCrAlloy supported catalyst during $NaBH_4$ hydrolysis reaction and the loss increased with increasing of $NaBH_4$ concentration. In continuous reactor, hydrogen yield of $NaBH_4$ hydrolysis was 90% using 1.2 g of unsupported Co-P-B catalyst with $3{\ell}/min$ hydrogen generation rate.
