A Study on the Electrical and Optical Properties of PZT Produced by Coprecipitation -The Effect of Nd- (공침법에 의한 PZT제조와 전기적 및 광학적 성질에 관한 연구 -Nd첨가에 따른 영향-)

  • The effect of Nd3+ on the electrical and optical properties in PZT ceramics were investigated. The powders were prepared by the coprecipitation method using the salt solutions and Nd3+ was partially substituted for Pb2+ of Pb(Zr0.54 Ti0.46)O3. The coprecipitate were obtained under pH 11.8-12 and the single phase of PLZT powders were synthesized at about 500$^{\circ}C$. In the case of specimens with 4at.% of Nd which were sintered at 1250$^{\circ}C$ for 55 hours under 1atm, showed 50% of transmittance for 600nm(wave length).

  • Perlite, a hydrated volcanic glass, occurs mainly as a bed-like body, and is distributed intermittently along the unconformity surface between the Beomgockri Group and its lower formations, viz. Janggi Group. The perlite is intimately associated with surrounding pumiceous welded tuff and rhyodacites in space and time. Compared to the typical perlite, the perlite is rather silica-poor and impure, and thus, includes lots of phenocrysts and rock fragments. Nearly the perlite is compositionally rather close to a pitchstone than a perlite in water contents. Petrographic comparison between perlite and associated volcanic to volcaniclastic rocks indicates that pumiceous welded tuff and rhyodacite seem to be Protolith of the Perlite. A Zr/$TiO_{2}$-Nb/Y diagram and field occurrence of perlite and their protolithic rocks also conforms the above interpretation. Kn addition, remnant vesicles in perlite strongly reflect that the precursor of perlitic glass appeared to be pumice fragment as well as volcanic glass. The perlite was diagenetically formed by way of a pervasive water-rock interaction at the deposition of the Manghaesan Formation in lacustrine environment. During perlitization, $SiO_{2}$ and alkali tend to be consistently depleted. Preexisting system of the Beomgockri Group based on the perlite formation should be corrected, because the perlite was formed diagenetically without lateral persistence in its occurrence.

Structural Properties of PZT(80/20) Thick Films Fabricated by Screen Printing Method

  • Pb(Zr$_{0.8}$Ti$_{0.2}$)O$_{3}$ powders, prepared by the sol-gel method, were mixed with an organic vehicle and the PZT thick films were fabricated by the screen-printing techniques on Pt/Ah03 substrates. The structural properties were examined as a function of sintering temperature. The particle size distribution of the PZT powder derived from the sol-gel process is uniform with the mean particle size of about 2.6 m. As a result of the DTA, the formation of the polycrystalline perovskite phase was observed at around $890^{circ}$CC. In the X-ray diffraction analysis, all PZT thick films showed a perovskite polycrystalline structure without a pyrochlore phase. The perovskite crystallization temperature of PZT thick films was about $890^{circ}$C. The average thickness of the PZT thick films was approximately 80-90 m.

  • In this study PZT powders were prepared with shapes of cubic by hydrothermal synthesis with various starting materials, and the sintering characteristics of the powders were investigated. The particle shapes were cubic regardless of starting materials, but the mean size of particles formed using $Pb(NO_3)_2$, $Ti(OC_4H_9)_4$ and $Zr(OC_4H_9)_4$ was relatively smaller than that of particles prepared from other starting materials. Agitation of the feedstock during hydrothermal reaction results in decreasing the required reaction temperature for the formation of nuclei, and in increasing the size of product particles. XRD results showed that the major phase of PZT crystal powders was a tetragonal phase at the Zr to Ti ratio of 40 to 60, or a rhombohedral phase at its ratio of 60 to 40. The density of a sintered body made from the hydrothermal powders in PbO surrounding varied with sintering temperatures and with periods of sintering time. The experimental results also showed that the optimum sintering condition was at $1150^{\circ}C$ for a 2hr sintering, and that the density of a sintered body was $7.6g/cm^3$.

  • 본 논문에서는 카메라폰용 광학중(Optical zooming) 과 자동초점조절장치 (Auto Focusing, AF)에 쓰일 초음파모터를 제작하였다. 초음파모터의제작 및 시뮬레이션은 유한요소해석 프로그램인 ATILA 5.2.1 (Magsoft co.)를 사용하여 디자인설계에 따른 구동특성을 고찰하였고 제작된 초음파모터는 한쪽 면이 없는 사작형의 탄성체를 제작하였으며 탄성체의 양쪽 다리에 각각 압전체를 부착하였다. 또한 압전세라믹의 조성은 $0.9Pb(Zr_{0.51}Ti_{0.49})O_3-0.1Pb(Mn_{1/3}Nb_{1/3}Sb_{1/3})O_3$의 조성으로 설계하였고 시편의 제조는 7-layer로 적층하였다. 제작된 압전세라믹의 치수는 6*2*0.35$mm^3$(길이*폭*두께)로 제작하였다 또한 탄성체의 외형치수는 10*10*2$mm^3$로 제작하였으며 두께를 각각 0.3[mm], 0.5[mm], 0.8[mm]으로 변화시키며 제작하였다. 두께가 0.8[mm]인경우 공진주파수는 60.5[kHz]를 나타내었으며 초음파모터의 압전세라믹에 인가전압이 증가함에 따라 회전속도와 모터에 흐르는 전류는 증가하였다. 인가전압이 40[Vpp] 일 때 회전속도는 206[rpm] 이며 소비전력은 0.3[W]로 제작된 시편은 카메라폰용 광학중 및 자동초점조절장치시스템 분야에 응용이 가능하다.

Comparison of Abnormal Grain Growth Behavior of Lead-Free (Na,K)NbO3-M(Cu,Nb)O3, (M = Ca, Sr, Ba) Piezoelectric Ceramics (비납계 (Na,K)NbO3-M(Cu,Nb)O3, (M = Ca, Sr, Ba) 압전 세라믹의 비정상 결정 성장 거동 비교)

  • NKN [(Na,K)NbO3] is a candidate lead-free piezoelectric material to replace PZT [Pb(Zr,Ti)O3]. A single crystal has excellent piezoelectric-properties and its properties are dependent of the crystal orientation direction. However, it is hard to fabricate a single crystal with stoichiometrically stable composition due to volatilization of sodium during the growth process. To solve this problem, a solid solution composition is designed (Na,K)NbO3-Ba(Cu,Nb)O3 and solid state grain growth is studied for a sizable single crystal. Ceramic powders of (Na,K)NbO3-M(Cu,Nb)O3 (M = Ca, Sr, Ba) are synthesized and grain growth behavior is investigated for different temperatures and times. Average normal grain sizes of individual specimens, which are heat-treated at 1,125 ℃ for 10 h, are 6.9, 2.8, and 1.6 ㎛ for M = Ca, Sr, and Ba, respectively. Depending on M, the distortion of NKN structure can be altered. XRD results show that (NKN-CaCuN: shrunken orthorhombic; NKN-SrCuN: orthorhombic; NKN-BaCuN: cubic). For the sample heat-treated at 1,125 ℃ for 10 h, the maximum grain sizes of individual specimens are measured as 40, 5, and 4,000 ㎛ for M = Ca, Sr, and Ba, respectively. This abnormal grain size is related to the partial melting temperature (NKN-CaCuN: 960 ℃; NKN-SrCuN: 971 ℃; NKN-BaCuN: 945 ℃).

  • This paper is to investigate a defect for thermal barrier coating layers by acoustic emission method in 4-point bending test. The two-layer thermal barrier coating is composed of $150\mu{m}\;CoNiCrAlY\;bond\;coating\;by\;vacuum\;plasma\;spray(VPS)\;process\;and\;250\mu{m}\;ZrO_2-8wt%Y_2O_3$ ceramic coating layer by air plasma spray(APS) process on Inconel-718. The specimen prepared by cyclic thermal test(500, 1000, 2000cycle) at $1050^{\circ}C$ The AE monitoring system is composed of PICO type sensor, a wide band pre-amplifier(40dB), PC and AE DSP(16/32 PAC) board. The AE event, amplitude, Cumulative energy and count of coating specimens is evaluated according to cyclic thermal test.

  • 67Ni-22Cr-10Al-1Y and $ZrO_2-8Y_2O_3$ were coated on the substrate surface of ST304 and Al2024 by the plasma spraying method. The adgesion of the films varies depending on the substrates and the laminating method. In the case of STS304, the cracks were observed at thermal shock temperature difference ${Delta}T$ of $900^{circ}C$ in the non functionally gradient material(NFGM) and at $1100^{circ}C$ in the functionally gradient material(FGM). The film adhesion of the FGM is better than that of the NFGM in ST304. The cumulative AE count of the FGM of STS304 increased continuously at the bending test. But the NFGM of STS304 showed discontinuity of the AE count. The total AE count for the FGM of STS304 decreased as the number of thermal shock increased, and this tendency was evident as the thermal shock temperature difference increased.

  • In this study, PZT powder was synthesized by coprecipitation method us ing $Pb(NO_3)2$, $ZrOCl_2{\cdot}8H_2O$ and $TiCl_4$ as starting raw materials. Homogeneous and fine-grained PZT powder was obtained by the coprecipitation method. PZT powder was characterized by DTA, SEM and XRD analysis. The XRD peaks were observed at $600(^{\circ}C)$ and over.

  • Pb$(Zr_{0.8}Ti_{0.2})TiO_3$ powder were prepared by the sol-gel method using a solution of Pb-acetate, Zr n-propoxide and Ti iso-propoxide. PZT thick film were fabricated by the screen printing method, and the structural and ferroelectric properties asafunting of the sintering temperature were studied. PZT film thickness, obtained by four screen printing, was approximately $70\sim90{\mu}m$. The relative dielectric constant and the dielectric loss of the PZT thick film sintered at $1050^{\circ}C$t were approximately 676 and 1.4%, respectively. The remanent polarization and the coercive field of the PZT thick film sintered at $1050^{\circ}C$ were $21.15{\mu}C/cm^2$ and 10.1 kV/cm, mapetively
