  • Boron nitride (BN) and carbon nitride (CN) films, which have relatively low work functions and commonly exhibit negative electron affinity behaviors, were coated on carbon nanotubes (CNTs) by magnetron sputtering. The CNTs were directly grown on metal-tip (tungsten, approximately 500nm in diameter at the summit part) substrates by inductively coupled plasma-chemical vapor deposition (ICP-CVD). The variations in the morphology and microstructure of CNTs due to coating of the BN and CN films were analyzed by field-emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM). The energy dispersive x-ray (EDX) spectroscopy and Raman spectroscopy were used to identify the existence of the coated layers (CN and BN) on CNTs. The electron-emission properties of the BN-coated and CN-coated CNT-emitters were characterized using a high-vacuum field emission measurement system, in terms of their maximum emission currents ($I_{max}$) at 1kV and turn-on voltage ($V_{on}$) for approaching $1{\mu}A$. The results showed that the $I_{max}$ current was significantly increased and the $V_{on}$ voltage were remarkably reduced by the coating of CN or BN films. The measured values of $I_{max}-V_{on}$ were as follows; $176{\mu}A$-500V for the 5nm CN-coated emitter and $289{\mu}A$-540V for the 2nm BN-coated emitter, respectively, while the $I_{max}-V_{on}$ of the as-grown (i.e., uncoated) emitter was $134{\mu}A$-620V. In addition, the CNT emitters coated with thin CN or BN films also showed much better long-term (up to 25h) stability behaviors in electron emission, as compared with the conventional CNT emitter.

  • To characterize bitter peptides in fermented protein foods, peptides were extracted with 2:1 (v/v) chloroform-methand from various samples and separated into fractions I, II, and III by Sephadex G-25 gel chromatography. Amino acid compositions of Mozzarella cheese, soybean paste, and each fraction from the two samples were analyzed to calculate the average hydrophobicity. All the solvent extracts of the food samples had strong bitter taste, although the original samples did not taste bitter. The yield of solvent extraction ranged from 0.08 to 62.50% of total nigrogen of food samples. The average hydrophobicity calculated from the amino acid composition of Mozzarella cheese was 1376 cal/mole, solvent extract 1,623 cal/mole, gel chromatography traction I, 1,797 cal/mole, fraction II, 2,454 cal/mole, and fraction III, 1,559 cal/mole. In the case of soybean paste, the average hydrophobicity of original sample, solvent extract, gel chromatography fraction I, II, and III wre 1,229, 1,654, 1,900,998 cal/mole, respectively. The important amino acids in bitter peptides were leucine, 2016, phenylalanine, proline, and voline.

  • The electrocardiographic (ECG) parameters in the normal Korean black goat have been measured with a 3-channel Electrocardiograph and computed, analyzed. ECG in 243 black goats were made with the limb leads (I, II, III, aVR, aVL, aVF), that were recorded conduction parameters of wave and interval, and were analyzed as to shape and amplitude of the P and T waves and the components of the QRS complex. Heart rate were recorded by the ECG which were a mean of 106.1$\pm $21.8 beats/min. Average conduction times in the PR, the QRS complex and the QTc interval were recorded 103.9$\pm $34.9 msec., 58.3$\pm $23.2 msec. and 302.6$\pm $67.8 msec., in the P and T wave duration recorded 24.8$\pm $6.4 msec. and 51.7$\pm $10.8 msec. respectively. The shape of wave in each leads were observed various types, and any spacial wave type appeared the highest frequency in each lead that ware shown less than 60%, and these frequent rate and average amplitudes as fallow: 1. In P waver the frequent rate and average amplitudes of the positive type showed in leads I, II and aVL that were 54.8% (93.0$\pm $ 33.2 $\mu $V), 50.5% (90.1$\pm $30.5 $\mu $V) and 41.7% (58.5$\pm $ 31.1 $\mu $V). Average amplitude of the negative type showed the frequent rate of 49.8% in lead aVE which was -77.6$\pm$ 25.2 $\mu $V. Biphasic type in leads III and aVF were 46.1% (108.4 $\mu $V, -90.2 $\mu $V.) and 45.7% (137.4 $\mu $V, -105.4 $\mu $V.), and amplitudes between positive and negative of it were significant difference. 2. The highest amplitudes of the QRS complex in all leads were 534.8$\pm $ 232.3 $\mu $V of lead II. The frequent rate and amplitudes of the R wave type in the I, II, III and aVF were 30.2% (277.8 $\pm $131.3 $\mu $V), 45.1% (393.1$\pm $114.2 $\mu $V), 48.5% (349.3$\pm $178.3 $\mu $V) and 54.9% (334.4$\pm $129.7 $\mu $V), and QS ways type in the lead aVL was 49.5% (359.2$\pm $195.5$\mu $V), and RS and QS wave types in the lead a VR were 43.3% (312.4 $\mu $V, -212.7 $\mu $V.) and 41.1% (399.2$\pm $92.2 $\mu $V), respectively. 3. In T wave, the frequent rata and amplitudes of the positive type in the leads I, II, III and aVF were 44.6% (207.9$\pm $ 97.1 $\mu $V), 41.6% (245.1$\pm $92.1 $\mu $V), 46.9% (189.8$\pm $ 82.7 $\mu $V) and 53.0% (195.4197.8 $\mu $V), and the negative in the lead aVR was 41.2% (-230.7$\pm$ 103.1 $\mu $V), respectively. The positive and negative types in the lead aVe appeared with same frequent rate of 43.2%.4. Frontal plane vectors for P, QRS, and T were found to lie at 38.1$\pm $ 21.5, 142.0$\pm $ 57.2, and 117.2$\pm $ 63.9 degrees, respectively. These results in ECG of goats may be served to the limited purposes as to conduction parameters, arrhythmias except abnormal ECG because of waveforms, amplitudes and electrical axis of it were variability.

  • The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a highly contagious pneumonia that has spread throughout the world. It is caused by a novel, single stranded RNA virus called severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). Genetic analysis revealed that, phylogenetically, the SARS-CoV-2 is related to severe acute respiratory syndrome-like viruses seen in bats. Because of this, bats are considered as a possible primary reservoir. The World Health Organization has declared the COVID-19 outbreak as a pandemic. As of May 27, 2020, more than 5,406,282 confirmed cases, and 343,562 confirmed deaths have been reported worldwide. Currently, there are no approved vaccines or antiviral drugs available against COVID-19. Newly developed vaccines are in the first stage of clinical trials, and it may take a few months to a few years for their commercialization. At present, remdesivir and chloroquine are the promising drugs for treating COVID-19 patients. In this review, we summarize the diversity, genetic variations, primary reservoirs, epidemiology, clinical manifestations, pathogenesis, diagnosis, treatment strategies, and future prospects with respect to controlling the spread of COVID-19.

  • IEEE developing WAVE specifications are able to support V2V and V2I wireless communications, and these functionalities can be used to enhance vehicle operational safety. To overcome any security weaknesses that are inherent in wireless communications, WAVE specification should support message encryption and authentication functions. In this study, we have implemented WAVE security algorithms in IEEE P1609.2 with openssl library and C language. We have verified the normal operation of implemented software, using the test vectors of related specifications, and measured their performance. Our software is platform independent, and can be used for the full implementation of WAVE specification.

  • ion beam processing of materials for medical application has gained increasing interest in the last decade and the implantation of nitrogen into TI-6AI-4V to improve corrosive-wear performance is currently used for processing of total hip and knee joints. Oxides and nitrides of Ti, Zr, Al, Cr were deposited on TI-6AI-4V substrates by DC magnetron sputtering dual ion beam sputtering and ion beam assisted deposition. The cytotoxicity of these films were investigated by MTT method and showed comparable to untreated TI-6AI-4V Plasm-sprayed hydroxyapatite(HAp) coatings showed excellent cytotoxicity regardless of heat treatment. intermediate layer coatings of nitrides and oxides increased the bond strength of HAp to substrate by intrdducing chemical bond at interface. Heat treatment of HAp coatings also improved the chemical bond at interfaces and increased the bond strength of untreated TI-6AI-4V to 16.4 kg/$\textrm{cm}^2$ but still lower than 33.1 kg./$\textrm{cm}^2$ of ir oxide as a imtermediate layer caoting.

  • In this paper, we propose a wide range PLL(Phase Locked Loop) for 64X CD-ROMs & l0X DVD-ROMs. The frequency locking range of the Proposed PLL is 75MHz~370MHz. To reduce jitters caused by large VCO gain and supply voltage noise, a new V-I converter and a differential delay cell are used in 3-stage ring VCO, respectively. The new V-I converter has a 0.6V ~ 2.5V wide input range. In addition, we propose a new charge pump which has perfect current matching characteristics for the sourcing/sinking current. This new charge pump improves the locking time and the locking range of the PLL. This Chip is implemented in 0.25${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ CMOS process. It consumes 55㎽ in worst case with a single 2.5V power supply.
