$NO_x$ Sensing Characteristic of $TiO_2$ Thin Film Deposited by R.F Magnetron Sputtering (R.F 마그네트론 스퍼트링으로 작성된 $TiO_2$박막의 $NO_x$ 감지 특성)

  • In these days, diesel vehicle or power plant emits $NO_X\; and SO_2$ which cause air pollution like acid-rain, ozone layer destroy and optical smoke, therefore there are many kinds of methods considered for removing them such as SCR, catalyst, plasma process, and plasma-catalyst hybrid process. T$TiO_2$ is commonly used as catalyst to remove $NO_X$ gas because it have very excellent chemical characteristic as photo catalyst. In this paper, $NO_X$ sensing characteristic of $TiO_2$ thin film deposited by R.F Magnetron sputtering is investigated. A finger shaped electrode on $Al_2$O$_3$ substrate is designed and $TiO_2$ is deposited on the electrode by the magnetron sputtering deposition system. Chemical composition of the deposited $TiO_2$ thin film is $TiO_{1.9}$ by RBS analysis. When the UV is irradiated on it with flowing air, capacitance of $TiO_2$ thin film increases, however, when NO gas is put into the system with air, it immediately decreases because of photo chemical reaction. and it monotonously decreases with increasing NO concentration.

  • The sintering phenomena, electrical resistivity, dielectric and piezoelectric properties of lead titanate ceramics modified by the partial substitution of La for Pb and Mn for Ti, (Pb1-1.5xLax)(Ti1-yMny)O3 ceramics, have been investigated. In (Pb1-1.5xLax)(Ti1-yMny)O3 system, with increasing lanthanum content, the realtive bulk density increased, but the Curie point and tetragonality (c/a) decreased. The tetragonal-to-cubic phase transition boundary existed in the range of 0.20

  • In this review, the studies on the electrochemical properties of $TiO_2$ nanotube as an anode material of lithium-ion battery, which was prepared by an alkaline hydrothermal reaction and anneling process, were investigated andanalyzed in terms of charge-dischage characteristics. Up to date, a maximum discharge capacity of $338mAh\;g^{-1}$(x=1.01) was achieved by the nanotube with $TiO_2(B)$ phase, whereas the theoretical capacity of $TiO_2$ anode was $335mAh\;g^{-1}$(x=1) in the basis of $Li_xTiO_2$ as a product of electrochemical reaction between $TiO_2$ and lithium. This was due to fast lithium transport by a shortened diffusion path provided by controlling the nanostructure of $TiO_2$, because the self-diffusion of lithium was slow in a basis of its activation energy as 0.48 eV. Due to an excellent ion storage capabilities in both the surface and the bulk phase, the $TiO_2$ nanotube could be a promising active material as both an anode of lithium-ion battery and an electrode of capacitor with high-rate performances.

  • Transparent xBa(La$_{1}$2/Nb$_{1}$2/)O$_{3}$-(1-x)Pb(Zr, Ti)O$_{3}$ (x=8.5, 9.0[mol.%], Zr/Ti=70/30~40/60) ceramics were fabricated by the two-stage sintering method, the electrooptic properties were investigated with Ba(La$_{1}$2/Nb$_{1}$2/)O$_{3}$ content and Zr/Ti composition ratio. Decreasing the Zr/Ti ratio, the electrooptic property was changed from a quadratic electrooptic effect to a linear electrooptic effcet. In the BLN-PZT 9.0/50/50 specimen having the tetragonal structure, the linear electrooptic coefficient had the highest value of 6.01*10$^{-10}$ [m/V] and in the BLN-PZT 9.0/55/45 specimen which located near the MPB region, the quadratic electrooptic coefficient had the highest value of 10.53*10$^{-16}$ [m$^{2}$/V$^{2}$].

  • In this study, the phase transition behaviors of lead-free (Na1/2Bi1/2TiO3)(1-x)-(BaTiO3)x (NBT-BT) are investigated by using Brillouin spectroscopy. The elastic properties, sound velocity and absorption coefficient of NBT-BT are characterized as a function of temperature along different crystallographic axes. The temperature dependences of the elastic constants of NBT-BT near the morphotropic phase boundary are determined for the first time. The unpoled NBT-BT single crystals exhibits the typical relaxor behaviors, presenting broad acoustic and dielectric anomalies. The application of electric field induced discontinuous changes in the elastic properties at ~110℃, which indicates field-induced phase transition occurred. The electric field also changes the dielectric constant from more relaxor-like to ferroelectric-like dielectric behavior.

  • A series of QPAE/TiO2-x (x = 1, 4, 7 and 10 wt%) organic/inorganic composite membranes were prepared as electrolyte membranes for alkaline anion exchange membrane fuel cells by controlling the content of inorganic filler with quaternized poly(arylene ether) (QPAE) random copolymer. Among the prepared QPAE/TiO2-x organic/inorganic composite membranes, the highest ionic conductivity was 26.6 mS cm-1 at 30℃ in QPAE/TiO2-7 composite membrane, which was improvement over the ionic conductivity value of 6.4 mS cm-1 (at 30℃) of the pristine QPAE membrane. Furthermore, the water uptake, swelling ratio, ionic exchange capacity, and thermal property of QPAE/TiO2-x composite membranes were improved compared to the pristine QPAE membrane. The results of these studies suggest that the fabricated QPAE/TiO2-x composite membranes have good prospects for alkaline anion exchange membrane fuel cell applications.

Pyroelectric Properties of the PLT Thin Films Prepared by Sol-Gel Method (Sol-Gel법으로 제조한 PLT박막의 초전 특성)

  • (Pb$_{1-x}$ La$_{x}$)Ti$_{1-x}$ $_4$O$_3$(x=0, 0.02, 0.04, 0.08) ceramic thin films were fabricated by Sol-Gel method. A stock solution of (Pb, La)TiO$_3$ with excess Pb 10 mol% was made and spin-coated on the Pt/Ti/SiO$_2$/Si substrate at 400rpm for 30 seconds. Coated specimens were dried on the hot-plate at 35$0^{\circ}C$ for 10 min and sintered at 500~75$0^{\circ}C$ for 1 hour. The dielectric constant, remanent polarization and coercive field of the PLT(6at.%) thin films sintered at $650^{\circ}C$ were 884, 13.95$\mu$C/$\textrm{cm}^2$ and 8.7kV/cm, respectively. Pyroelectric coefficient, figure of merit of pyroelectric current, voltage responsivity and detectivity of PLT(6at.%) thin films were 3.2$\times$10$^{-8}$ C/$\textrm{cm}^2$K, 1.02$\times$10$^{-8}$ C.cm/J, 2.9 $\times$10$^{-11}$ C.cm/J, 0.29$\times$10$^{-8}$ C.cm/J, respectively.ely.

Magnetic Ordering in (1-x)BaTiO3-xLaFeO3 Solid Solutions

  • Solid solutions between $BaTiO_3$ and $LaFeO_3$ have been prepared through a solid state reaction method. The X-ray diffraction results reveal that $Ba_{1-x}La_xTi_{1-x}Fe_xO_3$ ($0.1\;{\leq}\;x\;{\leq}\;0.7$) compounds have a cubic structure, whereas the parent material $BaTiO_3$ has a tetragonal structure. The magnetization measurements indicate that the materials have a magnetic ordering at room temperature and the magnetic properties of the solid solutions depending on the doping amount of $LaFeO_3$. The origin of magnetic behaviors is believed to be from $Fe^{3+}$ ions.

  • In order to understand the electrostrictive behavior of Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O3-PbTiO3 (PMN-PT) solid solutions the dielectric constants the electric-field-induced strains and the pyroelectric coefficients of (1-x)PMN-xPT (x=0.1-0.4) were investigated in the temperature range -50~20$0^{\circ}C$. For x=0.1~0.35 where the phase transi-tion is diffusive the strain has a maxima at the temperature of maximum pyroelectric coefficient (depolrizing temperature) rather than the temperature of maximum dielectric constant. For x=0.4 where the phase transition is relatively sharp the strain decreases monotonically as the temperature increases. Relationships among the above experimental results are discussed.

  • The $0.96MgTiO_{3}-0.04SrTiO_{3}+xCe(x=0{\sim}1.6wt%)$ ceramics were fabricated by the conventional mixed oxide method. The sintering temperature and time were $1300^{\circ}C$, 2hr., respectively. From the X-ray diffraction patterns, it was found that the perovskite $SrTiO_{3}$ and ilmenite $MgTiO_{3}$ structures were coexisted in the $0.96MgTiO_{3}-0.04SrTiO_{3}+xCe(x=0{\sim}1.6wt%)$ ceramics. The dielectric constant$(\varepsilon_{r})$ was increased with addition of Ce. The temperature coefficient of resonant frequency$(\Gamma_{f})$ was gradually varied from positive value to the negative value with increasing the Ce. The temperature coefficient of resonant frequency of the $0.96MgTiO_{3}-0.04SrTiO_{3}+0.2Ce$ ceramics was near zero, where the dielectric constant, quality factor, and $\Gamma_{f}$ were 20.68, 50,272 and ${-0.5ppm/^{\circ}C}$, respectively.
