It is well known that Morpho butterflies show distinctive, brilliant and iridescent colors and have micro-nano scale structures, instead of dyes and pigments, on their wings. This structural coloration is regarded as a novel technique to express color with a long lifetime, ease and precise tenability. Here, we studied optical multilayer thin films with thickness of several tens of nm ($TiO_2$ and $SiO_2$) and lens-shape micro-patterns. Fabrication and characterization of the multilayer stacking structure and the micro-pattern structure were performed and the films were analyzed via several optical measuring techniques. Finally, we discussed how the micro-pattern structure could enhance independence with color changes according to the viewing angle.
In the age of oil exhaustion, low cost, semi-transparent solar cell, the dye-sensitized solar cell (DSC) has attracted significant attention since 1991 of $Gr{\ddot{a}}tzel$ report. To enhance the light-harvest capability of the photoelectric electrode, and efficiency of photoelectric transformation of the DSC, scattering layer of various structure have been proposed to photoelectric electrode materials. The scattering center of scattering layer needs the large titanium dioxide nanoparticles of 250 - 300 nm in diameter. In this study, the large sized $TiO_2$ nanocyrstals of around 300 nm were synthesized using the modified sol-gel process. According to the analysis of XRD and TEM, the synthesized $TiO_2$ nanoparticles exhibit single crystals of anatase phase. The optical transmittance of the synthesized titanium dioxide film prepared by spin coating is around 50% at 550 nm. It is suitable for scattering layer as a scattering center, and expected to enhance the efficiency of photoelectric transformation of the DSC.
Single mode fiber optic interferometers using the Fabry-Perot configuration were embedded in a reinforced concrete structure. These interferometers investigated the character of phase shift and strain for internal loads. The 10 mm length of FFPI in the continuous length of single mode fiber (SMF) were produced with two pieces of SMF coated were $TiO_2$ dielectric film utilizing the fusion splicing technique. The fabricated fiber optic Fabry-Perot interferometer(FFPI) and the 6 mm length of steel bar were buried with specimen ($100{\times}100{\times}50\;mm^3$) which was made of concrete structure. The resin protects FFPI and fiber leads from squeezed concrete. Sensors at different point in the structure were multiplexed by TDM (Time Division Multiplexing) method and the deformation to the external loads at each point could be monitored simultaneously. The output signals were proportional to the external loads applied to the structure and the sensitivity of the sensors were $1.03^{\circ}/kg$ and $0.76^{\circ}/kg$ respectively.

Metal thin film patterns on a LTCC substrate, which was connected through inner via and metal paste for electrical signals, were formed by a screen printing process that used electric paste, such as silver and copper, in a conventional method. This method brought about many problems, such as non uniform thickness in printing, large line spaces, and non-clearance. As a result of these problems, it was very difficult to perform fine and high resolution for high frequency signals. In this study, the electric signal patterns were formed with the sputtered metal thin films (Ti, Cu) on an LTCC substrate that was coated with protective oxide layers, such as $TiO_2$ and $SiO_2$. These electric signal patterns' morphology, surface bonding strength, and effect on electro plating were also investigated. After putting a sold ball on the sputtered metal thin films, their adhesion strength on the LTCC substrate was also evaluated. The protective oxide layers were found to play important roles in creating a strong design for electric components and integrating circuit modules in high frequency ranges.

Ferroelectric PZT(10/90)PZT(90/10) heterolayered thin films were fabricated by spin-coating method on the Pt/Ti/SiO$^2$/Si substrate alternately using PZT(10/90) and PZT(90/10) metal alkoxide solutions. The coating and heating procedure was repeated six times to form PZT heterolayered films. The surface, cross-sectional microstructures and thickness of the films were observed using scanning electron microscope(SEM). The relative dielectric constant and dielectric loss of the 5-coated PZT heterolayered films were 1331 and 4.8% respectively.
Dual mode ring resonators(DMRR) have been fabricated using laser ablated $YBa_2Cu_3O_{7-x}$ superconducting thin films. The transition temperature of YBCO thin films were 85 - 88 K and the film thicknesses were about 5,000 $\AA$. Dual mode ring resonators were patterned by standard photolithography process and wet-etching. Then two-layer metal thin films (Ti/Ag) have been deposited for the ground plane on the back side of substrate by e-beam and thermal evaporation. The input/output feedline angles of each resonator were $60^{\circ}$, $100^{\circ}$, $180^{\circ}$. A network analyzer was used for testing the performance of the resonators in the frequency range of 6-13 GHz at 77 K.

The SBN ceramic thin films are deposited on Pt-coated electrode(Pt/Ti/$SiO_2$/Si) using RF sputtering method at substrate temperature of 300[$^{\circ}C$]. The grain and crystallinity of SBN thin films were increased with the increase of annealing temperature. The crystallinity of SBN thin films were increased with increase of annealing temperature in the temperature range of 600~800[$^{\circ}C$]. the surface rougness showed about 20 [nm].
The SCT thin films are deposited on Pt-coated electrode($Pt/TiN/SiO_2/Si$) using RF sputtering method with Sr/Ca ratio. The maximum grain of thin films is obtained by ratio of Ca at 15 mol%. The dielectric constant was increased with increasing the ratio of Ca, while it was decreased if the ratio of Ca exceeded over 15 mol%. The dielectric constant changes almost linearly in temperature ranges of $-80{\sim}+90$. All SCT thin films used in this study show the phenomena of dielectric relaxation with the increase of frequency, and the relaxation frequency is observed above 200 kHz. The current-voltage characteristics of SCT thin films showed the increasing leakage current as the measuring temperature increases.

The PZT(10/90)/(90/17) heterolayered thin films were fabricated by the spin-coaling on the Pt/Ti/SiO$_2$/Si substrate using the PZT(10/90) and PZT(70/10) metal alkoxide solutions. The effect of heterolayered thin films on the ferroelectrics and electrical properties have been investigated. The lower PZT layers provided the nucleation site for the formation of a perovskite phase of the upper PZT films. Dielectric constant increased with increasing the number of coatings, and it was about 569.9 at PZT-6 heterolayered films.
