Objective: This study was conducted with the objectives to examine the impacts of inorganic selenium (Se) and different types and levels of organic selenium on the serum and tissues Se status and antioxidant capacity in broiler breeders. Methods: Five hundred and forty 48-wk-old Lingnan Yellow broiler breeders were randomly assigned to 6 dietary treatments, provided same basal diet (0.04 mg/kg of Se) with 0.15 mg/kg, or 0.30 mg/kg of Se from sodium selenite (SS) or from selenium-enriched yeast (SY) or from selenomethionine (SM). The broiler breeders were slaughtered after an 8-wk experiment. Results: The results showed that SM was better than SY and SS, 0.30 mg/kg level was better than 0.15 mg/kg level in Se deposition (p<0.05) in serum, liver, kidney, pancreas and muscle; in antioxidant status, organic selenium had better effects than SS in broiler breeders (p<0.05), but SM and SY had a similar result, and 0.15 mg/kg level was better than 0.30 mg/kg (p<0.05). Conclusion: The results demonstrated the evident advantage of supplementation of broiler breeders with 0.15 mg/kg SM, which improved tissue Se concentrations and antioxidant status, and can be considered as the best selenium source.
Let D be an integral domain with quotient field K, X be a nonempty set of indeterminates over D, * be a star operation on D, $N_*$={f $\in$ D[X]|c(f)$^*$= D}, $*_w$ be the star operation on D defined by $I^{*_w}$ = ID[X]${_N}_*$$\cap$ K, and [*] be the star operation on D[X] canonically associated to * as in Theorem 2.1. Let $A^g$ (resp., $A^{[*]g}$, $A^{[*]g}$) be the global (resp.,*-global, [*]-global) transform of a ring A. We show that D is a $*_w$-Noetherian domain if and only if D[X] is a [*]-Noetherian domain. We prove that $D^{*g}$[X]${_N}_*$ = (D[X]${_N}_*$)$^g$ = (D[X])$^{[*]g}$; hence if D is a $*_w$-Noetherian domain, then each ring between D[X]${_N}_*$ and $D^{*g}$[X]${_N}_*$ is a Noetherian domain. Let $\tilde{D}$ = $\cap${$D_P$|P $\in$$*_w$-Max(D) and htP $\geq$2}. We show that $D\;\subseteq\;\tilde{D}\;\subseteq\;D^{*g}$ and study some properties of $\tilde{D}$ and $D^{*g}$.

Objective: The aim of this study was to ascertain the effects of adding green tea extract (GTE) to skim milk-egg yolk (SM-EY) extender on both the quality of post-thawed bull semen and the pregnancy rates of the recipient cows. Methods: Twelve ejaculates from four Simmental bulls, aged 3 to 5 years and weighing 900 to 950 kg, were diluted SM-EY extender, added with 0, 0.05, 0.1, and 0.15 mg GTE/100 mL extender and then frozen. After four weeks storage in liquid nitrogen, the sperm were thawed and evaluated for viability, motility, intact plasma membrane (IPM), and DNA fragmentation. Meanwhile, the estrus cycles of 48 recipient cows were synchronized by intramuscular administration of a single injection of 5 mg prostaglandin F2α. Estrus cows were divided into four equal groups and inseminated artificially 18 to 20 h after the onset of estrus by using semen from each extender group. Pregnancy was diagnosed by measuring serum progesterone levels at 21 days, followed by transrectal palpation 90 days after insemination. Results: The findings revealed that adding 0.1 mg of GTE/100 mL extender produced the highest percentages of sperm viability (70.67%±1.75%), motility (69.17%±1.47%), and IPM (69.23%±1.21%) and the lowest percentage of DNA fragmentation (3.00%±0.50%). The pregnancy diagnosis revealed that all cows (36/36) inseminated using frozen semen in GTE addition extender were pregnant (pregnancy rate 100%), whereas the pregnancy rate of the control group was 83.33% (10/12). Conclusion: It may be concluded that 0.1 mg GTE/100 mL extender yields the best quality of spermatozoa and that all variants doses of GTE in extender produce a higher pregnancy rate among recipient cows.

Lignocellulolytic enzymes play a crucial role in efficiently converting lignocellulose into valuable platform molecules in various industries. However, they are limited by their production yields, costs, and stability. Consequently, their production by producers adapted to local environments and the choice of low-cost raw materials can address these limitations. Due to the large amounts of olive stones (OS) generated in Morocco which are still undervalued, Penicillium crustosum, Fusarium nygamai, Trichoderma capillare, and Aspergillus calidoustus, are cultivated under different fermentation techniques using this by-product as a local lignocellulosic substrate. Based on a multilevel factorial design, their potential to produce lignocellulolytic enzymes during 15 days of dark incubation was evaluated. The results revealed that P. crustosum expressed a maximum total cellulase activity of 10.9 IU/ml under sequential fermentation (SF) and 3.6 IU/ml of β-glucosidase activity under submerged fermentation (SmF). F. nygamai recorded the best laccase activity of 9 IU/ml under solid-state fermentation (SSF). Unlike T. capillare, SF was the inducive culture for the former activity with 7.6 IU/ml. A. calidoustus produced, respectively, 1,009 ㎍/ml of proteins and 11.5 IU/ml of endoglucanase activity as the best results achieved. Optimum cellulase production took place after the 5th day under SF, while ligninases occurred between the 9th and the 11th days under SSF. This study reports for the first time the lignocellulolytic activities of F. nygamai and A. calidoustus. Furthermore, it underlines the potential of the four fungi as biomass decomposers for environmentally-friendly applications, emphasizing the efficiency of OS as an inducing substrate for enzyme production.
Single crystals of rare-earth iron garnets were grown from solutions of molten lead oxide, lead fluoride, baric oxide, iron oxide, and the oxides of yttrium, samarium orgadolinium. The crystals were grown by slow cooling technique. A convenient composition was 41.8mol% PbO, 20.59mol% PbF2, 8.23mol% B2O3, 20.00mol% Fe2O3 and 10.00mol% R2O3 where R is Y, Sm or Gd. For this experiment, platinum crucibles of size 20, 30cc and a vertical siliconit tube furnace were used. The precipitation temperature of YIG was observed in the range of 115$0^{\circ}C$-112$0^{\circ}C$ and the optimum growth conditions in this experiment were determined. The nucleation rate was controlled by the holding time after the fast colling, the growth rate by the slow cooling conditiions. The form of the grown YIG crystals showed a combination of {110} and {211}, and the size of the crystals grown in this experiment was up to about 9mm under the conditions of holding time 16hour, cooling rate 2$^{\circ}C$/hr. and temperature range 115$0^{\circ}C$-90$0^{\circ}C$. The precipitatin temperature of SmIG was observed in the range of 105$0^{\circ}C$-98$0^{\circ}C$ and the size of the crystals grown in this experiment was up to about 5mm under the conditiions of holding time 16hours, cooling rate 2$^{\circ}C$/hr. and temperature range 100$0^{\circ}C$-80$0^{\circ}C$.
Three banana-shaped achiral compounds, 4-chloro-1,3-phenylene bis [4-{4-(undecenyloxy)phenyl imino-methyl} benzoate] derivatives, were synthesized with variation of a substituent (x=H, F, Cl); their antiferro-electric properties are described. The smectic mesophases, including a switchable chiral smectic C(Sm $C^{\ast}$) phase, were characterized by differential scanning calorimetry, polarizing optical microscopy, triangular wave method, and X-ray diffractometry. The presence of vinyl groups at the terminals of linear side wings in the banana-shaped achiral molecules induced a decrease in melting temperature and formation of the switchable Sm $C^{\ast}$ phase in the melt. The smectic phase having a lateral fluorine-substituent at 3-position of the Schiff's base moiety showed antiferroelctric switching, and the value of spontaneous polarization on reversal of an applied electric field was 250 nC/$cm^2$ .
The biosynthesis study of antibiotics saframycin (SFM) in Streptomyces lavendulae and safracin (SAC) in Pseudomonas fluorescens demonstrated that 3-hydroxy-S-methyl-O-methyltyrosine (3hSmOmTyr), a nonproteinogenic amino acid, is the precursor of the tetrahydroisoquinoline molecular core. In the biosynthetic gene cluster of SAC/SFM, sacD/sfmD encodes a protein with high homology to each other but no sequence similarity to other known enzymes; sacF/sfmM2 and sacG/sfmM3 encode methyltransferases for C-methylation and O-methylation; and sacE/sfinF encodes a small protein with significant sequence similarity to the MbtH-like proteins, which are frequently found in the biosynthetic pathways of non ribosomal peptide antibiotics and siderophores. To address their function, the biosynthetic cassette of 3h5mOmTyr was heterologously expressed in S. coelicolor and P. putida, and an in-frame deletion and complementation in trans were carried out. The results revealed that (i) SfmD catalyzes the hydroxylation of aromatic rings; (ii) sacD/sacF/sacG in the SAC gene cluster and sfmD/sfmM2/sfmM3 in the SFM cluster are sufficient for the biosynthesis of 3h5mOmTyr; and (iii) the mbtH-like gene is not required for the biosynthesis of the 3h5mOmTyr precursor.

Phytophthora blight(PB), caused by Phytophthora drechsleri f. sp. cajani is the third potentially important disease of pigeonpea in the Deccan Plateau(DP) of India after wilt and sterility mosaic. In the rainy-season of 2005, an outbreak of PB was seen throughout DP. To quantify the incidence and spread of the disease, a systematic survey was conducted in the major pigeonpea growing regions of DP during the crop season 2005. Attempts were made to determine the effect of cropping systems on the PB development and identify resistant cultivars, if any, grown by farmers and on research farms. Widespread incidence of PB was recorded on improved, and or local cultivars grown in different intercropping systems. Majority of improved cultivars grown at research farms were found susceptible to PB(>10% disease incidence). Pigeonpea intercropped with groundnut, black gram and coriander had less disease incidence(${\leq}10%$). Three wilt and SM resistant pigeonpea cultivars KPL 96053, ICPL 99044, and ICPL 93179 were found resistant(<10%) to PB as well. However, their resistance to PB needs confirmation under optimum disease development environments.

This work presents the results of laboratory scale tests of the CARBOFLUOREX (CARBOnate FLUORide EXtraction) process - a novel technology for the recovery of U and Pu from the solid fluorides residue (fluorination ash) of Fluoride Volatility Method (FVM) reprocessing of spent nuclear fuel (SNF). To study the oxidative leaching of U from the fluorination ash (FA) by Na2CO3 or Na2CO3-H2O2 solutions followed by solvent extraction by methyltrioctylammonium carbonate in toluene and purification of U from the fission products (FPs) impurities we used a surrogate of FA consisting of UF4 or UO2F2, and FPs fluorides with stable isotopes of Ce, Zr, Sr, Ba, Cs, Fe, Cr, Ni, La, Nd, Pr, Sm. Purification factors of U from impurities at the solvent extraction refining stage reached the values of 104-105, and up to 106 upon the completion of the processing cycle. Obtained results showed a high efficiency of the CARBOFLUOREX process for recovery and separating of U from FPs contained in FA, which allows completing of the FVM cycle with recovery of U and Pu from hardly processed FA.
The influence of water partial pressure in Metal-organic Deposition (MOD) method was investigated on the texture and the morphology of $YBa_2Cu_3O_{7-x}$ (YBCO) films grown on the buffered metal tapes. The water partial pressure was varied from 4.2% up to 10.0% with the other process variables, such as annealing temperature and oxygen partial pressure, kept constant. In this work, the fluorine-free Y & Cu precursor solution added with Sm was synthesized and coated by the continuous slot-die coating & calcination step. The next annealing step of the YBCO films was done by the reel-to-reel method with the gas flowed vertically down. From the x-ray diffraction analysis, the un-reacted phase like $BaF_2$ peak was found at the water partial pressure of 4.2%, but $BaF_2$ peak intensity is much reduced as the water partial pressure is increased. However, the higher water partial pressure of about 10% in this experiment leads to the poor crystallinity of YBCO films. The morphologies of the YBCO films were not different from each other when the water partial pressure was varied in this work. The maximum critical current density of 3.8MA/$cm^2$ was obtained at the water partial pressure of 6.2% with the annealing temperature of 780$^{\circ}C$ and oxygen partial pressure of 500ppm.
