Ferroelectric Phase Transition Behavior in $(Na_{1/2}Bi_{1/2})TiO_3-PbTiO_3$ System ($(Na_{1/2}Bi_{1/2})TiO_3-PbTiO_3$ 고용체의 강유전 상전이 거동)

  • The morphotropic phase boundary and phase transitions of the solid solutiion system, (1-x)(Na1/2Bi1/2)TiO3-PbTiO3+xPbTiO3 were studied by investigating changes in crystal structure, variations in permittivity with temperature, and calorimetric behavior. It was observed that the morphotropic phase boundary (MPB) of this solid solutiion system was at near 14 mol% of PbTiO3. Compositions containing less than 10mol% PbTiO3 (x<0.1) exhibited a phase transition, i.e. ferroelectric rhombohedrallongrightarrowparaelectric paraelectric cubic, with increasing temperature. Composition containing more than 14 mol% PbTiO3 (x 0.14) showed a phase transition from ferroelectric tetragonal to paraelectric cubic. In the composition range of 0.1$\varepsilon$ (T) curve, which coincided with a phase transition from ferroelectric rhombohedral to an intermediate phase, was also found.

  • The possiblity of the existence of a spontaneous relaxor-normal ferroelectric transition was proposed and examined using 1~5 mol% PbZrO3-doped Pb(Ni1/3Nb2/3)O3-PbTiO3 (PNN-PT) systems having tetragonal symmetry at rom temperature. On cooling, the system with 60mol% Pb(Ni1/3Nb2/3)O3 underwent a spontaneous transition from a relaxor to a normal ferroelectric state. A microscopic examination demonstrates that the relaxornormal ferroelectric transition corresponds to a micro-macro domain switching accompanied with thermoelastic martensitic transformation. The long-range macrodomains below the transition temperature were characterized by twinlike 90$^{\circ}$macrodomains with tetragonal symmetry. The relaxor-normal ferroelectric transition was further correlated with the rhombohedral-tetragonal first-order structural transition.

  • Pyroelectric properties and relaxation phenomena in Pb(Mg /sub 1/3/Nb/sub 2/3/)O₃-PbTiO₃ solid solution system were studied to establish the phase relation of the solid solution system. The dielectric constants and the pyroelectric coefficients of (1-x)PMN-xPT (x = 0.1∼0.4) system were investigated in the phase transition temperature range of -40°C∼200°C. The freezing temperature was calculated by fitting the experimental data with the Vogel-Fulcher relation. With all the experimental data, a modified phase diagram of the (1-x)PMN-xPT system was suggested.

  • The PZT based piezoelectric thick films prepared by screen printing method have been mainly used as a functional material for MEMS applications due to their compatibility of MEMS process. However the screen printed thick films generally reveal poor electrical and mechanical properties because of their porous microstructure. To improve microstructure we mixed attrition milled powder with ball milled powder of 0.01Pb$(Mg_{1/2}W_{1/2})O_3$-0.41Pb$(Ni_{1/3}Nb_{2/3})O_3$-$0.35PbTiO_3$-$0.23PbZrO_3$+0.1 wt% ${Y_2}{O_3}$+1.5 wt% ZnO composition. By mixing 25 % of attrition milled powder and 75 % of ball milled powder, the broadest particle size distribution was obtained, leading to a dense thick film with crack-free microstructure and improved dielectric properties. The X-ray diffraction analysis revealed that the film was in wellcrystallized perovskite phase. The remanent polarization was increased from $13.7{\mu}C/cm^2$ to $23.3{\mu}C/cm^2$ at the addition of 25 % attrition milled powder.

  • The system of 0.1Pb(Mg1/3N2/3)O3-yPbTiO3-zPbZrO3 piezoelectric ceramics was made in the radial model disk and ring dot type filter. The resonant frequency(fr) variations were investigated for 100 hours and the temperature range from 20$^{\circ}C$ to 100$^{\circ}C$. As the results, the morphotropic phase boundary was supposed to be the composition of 45 y 50 and 40 z 45. The best characteristic of againg effect, after 10-hours, was composed of y, z=45. The stabilized characteristic of temperature varition, to become 0.1% up to 100$^{\circ}C$, was composed of y=50 and z=40. The bandwidth was broadened with increasing the electromechanical coefficient(kp), and the filter characteristics was approached ideal mode with increasing mechanical quality factor(Qm). Kp and Qm affected combinationally on filter characteristics.

  • In this study the system of $Pb(Mn_{1/3} Nb_{2/3})O_3-PbTiO_3-PbZrO_3$ piexoelectric ceramics was made in the radial mode disk and attenuation characteristic of the desinged ladder type filter was investigated. What is more temperature dependance of resonant frequency and variation of resonant frequency was examined by chan-ging the electrode diameter of piezoelectric resonator. (A Group : De=11mm, B Group : De=7.5mm and C Gro-up : De=5.5mm) Upon investigation it was the following. The center frequency of A, B and c filter showed up in the 200KHz, 270KHz and 380KHz respectively. As the electrode diameter decreased center frequency in creased abruptly. As the Co_2/Co1 increased attenuation characteristics and selectivity was improved. As the x=50. resonant frequ-ency invaried with variation of temperature.

  • 본 연구는 Pb( $Co_{1}$3/Nb$_{2}$3/) $O_{3}$-PbTi $O_{3}$-PbZr $O_{3}$계 압전세라믹스의 조성에 따른 착화소자특성과 기계적응력 인가시의 압전열화현상에 대하여 조사하였다. 그 결과 상경계 조성에서 소결밀도, $K_{33}$ 및 출력전압이 최고치를 나타내었으며 능방정계조성에서는 조성의 변화에 따른 소결 및 전기적특성의 변화는 정방정계조성에 비하여 작았다. 기계적 응력 인가시의 압전퇴화현상은 분역의 재배열로 설명할 수 있었다.

  • 95Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O3-5PbTiO3 (hereinafter designated as 95PMN-5PT) system was prepared by the columbite-precursor method with 2 mol% excess PbO to compensate the PbO loss during thermal process. The amount of CuO was 1~10 mol%, and the effects of CuO addition on the dielectric properties of this system have been investigated. From the microstructures, XRD analysis and dielectric measurements, the solubility limit of CuO in 95PMN-5PT was found to be around 3 mol%. Lattice parameter and Curie temperature were found to be decreased as the amount of CuO increased up to the solubility limit. This result confirmed that the Cu2+-ions substituted the Pb2+-ions. It was revealed that the addition of CuO on 95PMN-5PT promoted the sinterability and properties. The room temperature dielectric constant, the loss factor and the specific resistivity of the specimens processed with optimum conditions were 23000, 1%, and 8$\times$1011Ω.cm, respectively.

  • When steel contaminated with Pb, produced by the decay of natural radionuclides, is remelted, Pb distributes among the metal, slag, and gas phases. In this study, 5 wt%Pb was added to Fe and melted with CaO-SiO2-Al2O3-MgO slag to investigate Pb's distribution in the metal/slag/gas. As slag basicity ((wt%CaO)/(wt%SiO2)) increased, Pb solubility in Fe slightly increased, while Pb in the slag tended to decrease. Consequently, the slag/metal distribution ratio of Pb decreased with increasing basicity. Thermodynamic calculations revealed that the slag/Fe phase distribution ratio of Pb remained very low irrespective of the activity coefficient of PbO in the slag, consistent with the experimental results. The calculated evaporation rate of Pb in Fe-Pb was approximately 22 times that of Fe; hence, most of the Pb evaporated into the gas phase.
