Study on CO2/N2 Mixture Gas Permeation Behavior through Polyethersulfone Membrane Treated by Plasma (플라즈마 처리된 폴리이써설폰 막의 CO2/N2 혼합가스의 투과거동에 대한 연구)

  • The surface of polyethersulfone(PES) membrane treated by Ar, $NH_3$ plasma, and the effects were observed before and after the treatment. The membrane treated by Ar plasma was increased the O/C ratio and measured the hydrophilic group, and the one by $NH_3$ plasma was attached the amine group and the amino group. In addition, with the wettability of polyethersulfone membrane $CO_2$ and the polar functional groups of surface interacted increasingly. Thus by comparable increase of the soluble selectivity $CO_2$ to $N_2$ both the permeability and the selectivity of $CO_2$ was improved. The optimum condition for the $CO_2$ permeation and actual separation factor of the plasma treated membrane was as follows; the measurement of Ar-10 W-2 min plasma treatment was $13.19{\times}10^{-10}cm^3(STP)cm/cm^2{\cdot}s{\cdot}cmHg$ and 20.12, and the measurement of $NH_3$-50 W-2 min plasma treatment was $15.40{\times}10^{-10}cm^3(STP)cm/cm^2{\cdot}s{\cdot}cmHg$ and 20.06.

Electromigration in Molten-phase Ge2Sb2Te5 and Effects of Doping on Atomic Migration Rate

  • Electromigration in molten $Ge_2Sb_2Te_5$ (GST) was characterized using pulsed DC stress to an isolated line structure. When an electrical pulse was applied to the GST, GST lines were melted by Joule heating, and Ge and Sb atoms migrate to the cathode, whereas Te atoms migrate to the anode. This elemental separation in the molten GST was caused by an electrostatic force-induced electromigration. The effects of O-, N-, and Bi-doping on the electromigration were also investigated, and atomic mobility changes by the doping were investigated by quantifying $DZ^*$ values. The Bi -doping did not affect the $DZ^*$ values of the constituent atoms in the molten GST, but the D$DZ^*$ values decreased by O-doping and N-doping.

Isolation of Compounds having Inhibitory Activity toward Tyrosinase from Receptaculum Nelumbinis (연방(蓮房)의 티로시나제 저해 활성을 보이는 성분분리)

  • Nelnumbo nucifera Gaerth. (Nymphaeaceae) has been used in a korean traditional medicine to treat fever, sunstroke and dizziness. The receptaculums of this plant were refluxed with MeOH, and then fractionated with organic solvents ($CH_2Cl_2$, EtOAc and n-BuOH) to screen whitening activity using tyrosinase inhibitory activity. EtOAc ($IC_{50}$, 45.23 ${\mu}g/ml$) fractions showed a good tyrosinase inhibitory activity. Column chromatographic separation of $CH_2Cl_2$ and EtOAc fractions of Receptaculum nelumbinis led to the isolation 3 compounds. Their chemical structures were characterized as ${\beta}$-sitosterol (1), quercetin 3-O-${\beta}$-D-galactopyranoside (2) and kaempferol 3-O-${\beta}$-D-glucopyranoside (3) by comparison NMR spectral data and with those in references, respectively. Isolated compounds 1 and 3 were firstly isolated from Receptaculums nelumbinis. Compounds 2 and 3 showed potent whitening activities.

Phenolic Compounds from the Bark of Acer barbinerve Max.

  • The bark of Acer barbinerve was extracted with 70% aqueous acetone and the organic extracts were concentrated to small volume using rotary evaporator and then fractionated successively with n-hexane, dichloromethane, ethyl acetate and water. The chromatographic separation of ethyl acetate soluble fraction led to the isolation of five phenolic compounds. By means of spectroscopic method, the structures of these compounds were identified to methyl gallate (1), methyl gallate-4-O-${\beta}$-D-glucose (2), (+)-catechin (3), (-)-epicatechin (4) and (-)-epicatechin-3-O-gallate (5). These compounds (1-5) have not been reported in this plant yet.

Study on the Removal of Water Vapor Using PEI/PEBAX Composite Hollow Fiber Membrane (PEI/PEBAX 복합 중공사 막을 이용한 수분 제거에 관한 연구)

  • In this research, PEI/PEBAX composite hollow fiber membrane was used for the removal of water vapor from gases. PEI (Polyetherimide) substrate membrane was spinned by dry-wet phase inversion method and coated with PEBAX (Polyether block amides) 3533 and PEBAX1657. Fabricated fibers typically had an asymmetric structure of a dense top layer supported by a sponge-like substructure through scanning electron microscopy (SEM). $H_2O/N_2$ mixture gas was used to compare the performance of separation according to temperature, pressure and water activity. The results of PEBAX3533 and PEBAX1657 composite membranes respectively showed $H_2O/N_2$ selectivity of 61.7~118.5 and 85.3~175.4 according to operating conditions. PEBAX3533 composite hollow fiber membranes module showed the water vapor removal of 90%.

The Preparation and the Gas Permeation Characteristics of the Soluble Polyimides (용해성 폴리이미드의 제조 및 기체투과특성)

  • The soluble polyimides(PMDA/diamine/dianhydride) were prepared and investigated. After coating the prepared PMDA/diamine/dianhydride solution into the commercial tubular alumina ceramic membranes, gas permeation characteristics was investigated. $T_g{\prime}s$ of the polyimides were in the range of $337{\sim}358^{\circ}C$ and thermal stability was good. The polymer was soluble in NMP, DMAc, DMSO, THF, and m-cresol. The adhesion between the alumina membrane and the soluble polyimide was excellent. The soluble polyimide/alumina membranes containing 6FDA showed the highest permeability among others. The permeability of nitrogen of PMDA/1,3PDA/6FDA-alumina membrane was about $7.6{\times}10^{-7}(mol/m^2{\cdot}Pa{\cdot}s)$ in the gas permeation experiments. The ideal separation factor of $O_2/N_2$ and $H_2/N_2$ in PMDA/1,3PDA/6FDA-alumina membrane were 6.19, and 70.0, respectively.

Gas Permeation and Steam Stability of Ga Salt Doped Silica Membrane by Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD 법으로 제조한 실리카 막의 Ga 염 첨가에 따른 스팀안정성 및 기체투과특성)

  • In this study, a ceramic membrane was prepared by CVD. Tube type alpha alumina support was used for substrate and added the Ga salt in intermediate layer. Synthesized method was counter diffusion CVD method at $650^{\circ}C$ with tetramethylorthosilane (TMOS). Gas permeation was measured at $600^{\circ}C$ using single-component $H_2$, $N_2$, $CO_2$ and $CH_4$. During the steam treatment, $H_2/N_2$ permselectivity of non-Ga silica membrane was decreased 926 to 829 at $600^{\circ}C$. On the other hand $H_2/N_2$ permselectivity of added Ga silica membrane was stable 910 to 904 at $600^{\circ}C$. These results show that the metal-doped membranes improved steam stability for gas separation.

WEAKLY DENSE IDEALS IN PRIVALOV SPACES OF HOLOMORPHIC FUNCTIONS

  • In this paper we study the structure of closed weakly dense ideals in Privalov spaces $N^p$ (1 < p < $\infty$) of holomorphic functions on the disk $\mathbb{D}$ : |z| < 1. The space $N^p$ with the topology given by Stoll's metric [21] becomes an F-algebra. N. Mochizuki [16] proved that a closed ideal in $N^p$ is a principal ideal generated by an inner function. Consequently, a closed subspace E of $N^p$ is invariant under multiplication by z if and only if it has the form $IN^p$ for some inner function I. We prove that if $\cal{M}$ is a closed ideal in $N^p$ that is dense in the weak topology of $N^p$, then $\cal{M}$ is generated by a singular inner function. On the other hand, if $S_{\mu}$ is a singular inner function whose associated singular measure $\mu$ has the modulus of continuity $O(t^{(p-1)/p})$, then we prove that the ideal $S_{\mu}N^p$ is weakly dense in $N^p$. Consequently, for such singular inner function $S_{\mu}$, the quotient space $N^p/S_{\mu}N^p$ is an F-space with trivial dual, and hence $N^p$ does not have the separation property.

  • The fluid induced vibration (FIV) phenomena of a 2-D.O.F airfoil system have been investigated in low Reynolds number incompressible flow region. Unsteady flows with viscosity are computed using two-dimensional incompressible Navier-stokes code. To validate developed Navier-Stokes code, steady and unsteady flow fields around airfoil are analyzed. The present fluid/structure interaction analysis is based on the most accurate computational approach with computational fluid dynamics (CSD) and computational structural dynamics (CSD) techniques. The highly nonlinear fluid/structure interaction phenomena due to severe flow separations have been analyzed fur the low Reynolds region (R$_{N}$ =500~5000) that has a dominancy of flow viscosity. The effect of R$_{N}$ on the fluid/structure coupled vibration instability of 2-DOF airfoil system is presented and the effect of initial angle of attack on the dynamic instability are also shown.own.

  • We have measured the Hall effect in infinite-layer Sr/sub 0.9/La/sub 0.1/$CuO_2$ thin films grown by molecular beam epitaxy. We do not observe $T^{2}$ dependence of the cotangent of Hall angle, which is commonly observed in other cuprate High-Tc superconductors. Therefore, this result cannot be interpreted within two different scattering mechanism based on charge-spin separation theory. The mixed-state Hall effect shows no sign anomaly, implying that tile hydrodynamic contribution of vortex core is negligibly small.
