Long-Term Sludge Application on Extractable Contents of Copper in Soils (Sludge 를 장기처리(長期處理)한 토양중(土壤中)에서 추출물질종류(抽出物質種類)에 따른 Cu 의 함량(含量))

  • An experiment on movements of copper in soils was conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of several soil extractants in predicting to be possibly the plant availability of copper in soils. Soil samples were taken six, from Las Virgines loam that the samples naturally included high contents of heavy metals near Los Angeles, Greenfield sandy loam and IDomino Loam that received 22.5, and $45.0mg.\;ha^{-1},\;yr^{-1}$ of composted sludge from Los Angeles from 1975 to 1983, respectively. Copper in soils were extracted with $4M\;HNO_3$, 0.1M HCl, 0.5M DTPA-0.1M TEA, 0.5M EDTA-0.1M $Ca(NO_3)_2$, and 1M ammonium acetate(pH 7), and analyzed by atomic absorption spectroscopy. The results were as follows: 1. The total copper contents in soil that received $45.0mg.\;ha^{-1},\;yr^{-1}$ of composted sludge were higher than that received $22.5mg.\;ha^{-1}.yr^{-1}$, regardless of soil samples. 2. The ratios of extractable copper contents with EDTA, DTPA, 0.1M HCl and 1M ammonium acetate to total copper contents extracted with 4M $HNO_3$ of long-term sludge applications were larger than those of natural, sludge-nontreated soils. 3. Statistically significant increase in total copper contents was found in the increasing values of multipling CEC, or OM% by R, ratio of extractable copper contents to those by 4M $HNO_3$ extraction as total copper contents in soils.

The Statistical Study on the Effects of Physicochemical Properties of Soil on Single Extraction Methods for Heavy Metals (토양의 물리화학적 특성이 중금속 단일용출법에 미치는 영향에 대한 통계학적 연구)

  • The effects of the physicochemical properties of soil such as soil pH, cation exchange capacity, and organic matter content on single extraction of Cd, Cr, Cu, Ni, Pb, and Zn using CaCl2, HOAc, HNO3, and DTPA were statistically investigated for 69 agricultural soils in Korea. Correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis were applied for soil samples which were grouped on the basis of average values of the physicochemical properties of the soil. Diluted HNO3 extracted higher concentrations of Cr, Cu, Ni, and Pb when compared with the other extractants, however, similar amounts of Cd and Zn were extracted by HOAc with HNO3. The results of correlation analysis indicated that DTPA extraction showed a high correlation with other single and pseudo-total extraction methods, and the physicochemical properties of soil influenced the concentrations of heavy metals leached by the single extraction methods. In the case of Zn, high correlations between pseudo-total and the studied single extraction methods were observed. As a result of regression analysis, it was found that the physicochemical properties of the soil could explain up to 74% of variances of the single extraction results. These results indicate that the physicochemical properties of the soil can have a direct influence on the concentrations of heavy metals extracted by the single extraction methods.

Preparation of $PbTiO_3$ Thin Films using Metal Alkoxide and Diethanolamine Complexing Agent (금속알콕사이드와 Diethanolamine 착체를 이용한 $PbTiO_3$ 박막 제조)

  • PbTiO3 thin films were prepared by sol-gel spin coating method using metal alkoxide and diethanolamine (DEA). The precipitation of the PbTiO3 sol occurred at pH 7.3 with HNO3 addition, regardless of the amount of DEA. The gelation time of the PbTiO3 sol was reduced with increasing amount of HNO3 and/or water. When the PbTiO3 films prepared by 0.2 molar coating solution were annealed at $650^{\circ}C$ for 30 min, dense and single phase perovskite films were obtained. Dielectric constant and loss tangent of the film were 239 and 0.01 at 1 kHz, respectively.

Preparation of Fe2O3 Supported γ-alumina Catalyst by Hydrothermal Method (수열법에 의한 Fe2O3 담지 감마알루미나 촉매제조)

  • The cylindrical ${\gamma}$-alumina pellets were prepared using amorphous alumina and pore generating agent. Its were immersed in aqueous solution of the mixture of Fe(NO$_3$)$_3$.9$H_2O$ and $CH_3$COOH, Fe(NO$_3$)$_3$.9$H_2O$ and $CH_3$COOH and HNO$_3$, and Fe(NO$_3$)$_3$.9$H_2O$ and HNO$_3$. The pellets thus were hydrothermally treated at 20$0^{\circ}C$ for 3 h in autoclave, and were investigated morphologies and changes of crystal pore characteristics, $N_2$ adsorption and desorption isotherms, active sites and mechanical strength etc. According to the preparation method, acicular platelet pseudo-boehmite crystals of 0.1~0.3 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ size were transformed into acicular pseudo-boehmite cristals of 0.5~2 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ size having the same crystal structure. When ${\gamma}$-alumina pellets were immersed in aqueous solution of the mixture of Fe(NO$_3$)$_3$.9$H_2O$ and $CH_3$COOH and then were hydrothermally treated, pore volume between 100 $\AA$ and 1000 $\AA$ was increased from 0.34 ㏄/g to 0.86 ㏄/g, and the gap of $N_2$ adsorption and desorption hysteresis loop was decreased due to increasement of pore size. New active site that could adsorb the C-H functional group was created on the catalist. Also, mechanical strength of catalyst was increased from 1.06 ㎫ to 1.36 ㎫.

Interfacial Structures and Activation Processes of Doped Si Semiconductors (Doping된 Si반도체의 계면구조와 활성화과정)

  • The approximations of charge relationships at normally doped semiconductor interfaces were qualitatively derived basis on electrical neutrality conditions. Effects of ion adsorptions, activation processes, interfacial structures, rectifying phenomena, and effects of surface potential barriers at the p- and n-Si/CsNO3 aqueous electrolytes, and the p-Si/(1HF:3HNO3:6H2O) electrolyte solutions were investigated using a cyclic voltammetric method. The space charge acts the most important role for the pn junction structures, the rectifying phenomena, and the activation processes. The Current-Voltage (I-V) characteristics curves significantly depend on developing of the Helmholtz double layers and charging of the show surface states during the activation processes. A linear Current-Voltage characteristics region was observed at the p-Si/(1HF:3HNO3: 6H2O) electrolyte solution interface.

Rapid Volumetric Assay of Fluorspar Concentrate (고품위 형석의 신속 용량법)

  • A volumetric method of the determination of calcium carbonate and calcium fluoride in fluorspar concentrate is described. The carbonate is converted into solution by treatment of the sample in HNO$_3$-acetone (l% by volume) mixture, and the fluoride by treating the residue with H$_3BO_3$-HCl mixture. The calcium in the solution is determined volumetrically using EDTA standard solution. The selective dissolution of calcium carbonate by HNO$_3$-acetone mixture is superior to Bidtel's acetic method and little correction for the dissolution of calcium fluoride is needed. Triethanolamine is found to be superior to KCN in masking heavy metal ions.

Effectiveness of Acid Injection as a Method to Remove $\textrm{HCO}_2$ in Hydroponic Water (양액재배 용수 중의 $\textrm{HCO}_2$ 이온 제거를 위한 산 첨가의 효과와 효과적인 산 처리방법)

  • High concentrations of HCO$_3$$^{[-10]}$ (bicarbonate ion) in hydroponic water lead to high pH and to change in solubility, and consequently inhibition of absorption of available iou. An adequate and practical method is needed to remove HCO$_3$$^{[-10]}$ in the water fur hydroponics. to compare the efficiency of HCO$_3$$^{[-10]}$ removal, the effect of injecting HNO$_3$, H$_3$PO$_4$ or H$_2$SO$_4$ was tested. Acid injection was effective to remove HCO$_3$$^{[-10]}$ Based on the assumption that an equivalent of HCO$_3$$^{[-10]}$ ion is neutralized by an equivalent of acid, KHCO$_3$ was dissolved in a double distilled water at 50, 100, 150, 200 or 250 mg.L$^{[-10]}$ concentration and either HNO$_3$, H$_3$PO$_4$ or H$_2$SO$_4$ was injected at a certain ratio, and the resulting pH change and HCO$_3$$^{[-10]}$ ion removal was measured. According to the results obtained, HCO$_3$$^{[-10]}$ in hydroponic water was titrated, and concentration of the residual HCO$_3$$^{[-10]}$ ion well correlated with the amount of acid injected.

Study on Recovery of Separated Hydrofluoric Acid, Nitric Acid and Acetic Acid Respectively from Mixed Waste Acid Produced during Semiconductor Wafer Process (반도체 웨이퍼 제조공정(製造工程) 중 발생혼합폐산(發生混合廢酸)으로부터 불산, 질산 및 초산의 각 산 회수(回收)에 관한 연구(硏究))

  • We researched separation of mixed waste acids with HF, $CH_3COOH$, $HNO_3$ that were produced during a semiconductor wafer process to recycle these acids. At first, we manufactured the fluoride compound in form of $Na_2SiF_6$ by precipitating HF using $NaNO_3$ and Si powder. The concentration of HF was reduced from the initial concentration of 127 g/L to 0.5 g/L with an HF recovery ratio of 99.5%. After the manufacture of $Na_2SiF_6$, the concentration of $HNO_3$ and $CH_3COOH$ demonstrated 502 g/L and 117 g/L respectively. Following these findings we added NaOH in this $CH_3COOH/HNO_3$ mixed acid in order to obtain pH=4. Next we separated the $CH_3COOH$ and recoverd it through the use of vaccum evaporation at -440 mmHg, $95^{\circ}C$. The concentration of the recovered $CH_3COOH$ was approximately 15% and the recovery ratio of $CH_3COOH$ was over 85%. We precipitated the $NaNO_3$ by cooling the concentrated solution to $20^{\circ}C$ with a $HNO_3$ recovery ratio of over 93%. We confirmed that only $Na_2SiF_6$ and $NaNO_3$ were manufactured by XRD analysis after drying these precipitants at $90^{\circ}C$. The precipitants demonstrated a purity of approximately 97% and 98% respectively. Therefore, the purity of the precipitants proved to be similar to that of commercial products.
